More like cool factor +1 million... Durabak it. I would choose black, but they do have 16 colors... -
Oh man, that's crazy! We have EA82s out the yin-yang, but I've only ever seen two Gen 1s in junkyards! Okay, that's just nuts. I want to trade places. All I can ever find is EA82s! I've only ever seen one 1995+ Legacy in the yard!

Plus, at Wal-Mart you can buy a can of 600 zip ties for $6.44 - that's a penny each, man!
-
Naaaaaah... Let's see... 8" zip tie=50lbs. breaking strength... 1000 zip ties=50,000 lbs. break strength - good enough for me. Plus, Gorilla Glue is "The Strongest Glue On Planet Earth"!
-
I envy you for jumping a Sube... I envy you for owning a Gen 1... I do not envy you for jumping a Gen 1...
-
A machine gun.
-
Notice the Gorilla Glue in the upper right corner...This guy obviously knows what he's doing. There are three things you never go into a project without: 1) Duct Tape 2) Zip Ties 3) Gorilla Glue

Oh, man, I can't imagine tearing up a 360 like that, but a Justy...hmm... But then you have to think about the fact that you need to sustain high speeds for extended peiods of time--tough with the Justy engine/gearing.
-
No way, man... I heart torque!
-
Yeah, doesn't sound very "light" if you're planning on jumping it, man.
-
Okay... You guys win... But still - any advice?
-
First year of SVX - '92 (I think)Final year of Loyale - '94 Sounds good to me!
-
Dude, seriously. I want to BUILD a car - not make a Dr. Frankenstein creation of a million "RETROFITTED" parts. All I'm looking for is help with an OFF-ROAD vehicle - if that entails swapping in something from something else from another sube from time to time, cool. But that's not all I'm looking for (obviously). Oh yeah, one more thing... That's not a sentence And... Nobody said a word about tranny swaps:burnout:
-
I had a bald tire separate at 77MPH in my hatch--scary.
-
Put it back! Put it back! This thread belongs in the Off-Road section! Not the silly "Retrofitting" place! BAJA IS OFF-ROAD IS IT NOT? BAJA WOULD REQUIRE OFF-ROAD VEHICLES, WOULD IT NOT?
-
Oh yeah--128MPH in my other friend's '92 Legacy with NO exhaust! We could have gone faster, were it not for the pounding headaches we both had.
-
Friend's '93 Loyale on studded snows--95MPH uphill (okay, it was down a steep hill, then up the other side) Plus, he was steering with his teeth. (It was fun as heck, but don't try it.)
-
Oh, my gosh--I've never laughed (silently) so hard in my life! I'm in the library and trying not to be noisy, but I can't stop laughing. I have no idea why I find that so funny, but my eyes teared up so much I couldn't read the posts after it. You are awesome.

So...how would you guys make the ultimate Baja suspension setup for... -An EA82? -A Legacy? -Any other good, cheap, modify-able Subaru? As far as power and parts availability go, EJ22 is probably the best route, right? But...do I use a Legacy or a Loyale with the EJ motor? Boy, this is tough.
-
Ha. I just thought of a bunch of grown men hanging out playing 'Subarus' (like marbles)... "Hey, man, I'll trade you two PUG steelies and a THIRD eye for that!" "Deal!"
-
Yeah, I was thinking kind of the same thing--AWD, maybe turbo the EJ22? I don't know--I think overall I would have the same amount of money (A LOT!) into whatever I do, so really it's just about weighing the possibilities and choosing which one I want. Has anyone done this in the past? Got any helpful info on which choices would be bad choices? What are the strong and weak points of each option?
-
Oh yeah, baby... Too expensive and not as cool as an earlier model, dude.
