  1. been there done that, twisted off the end of the breaker bar. make sure they are not super tight, make them snug by hand and maybe up to 1/4 turn.
  2. there is no o2 sensor because the y pipe has been replaced with one from a non-cali hitachi setup
  3. whatever you find the part is the same for any ea82 subaru, probably ea81 as well
  4. 175/70 or 185/70 either of these are what i see stock on soobs all the time, generally 175's on fwd and 185 on 4wd. i would go with the 185 for a lot of highway driving
  5. time to buy a subaru dealership, for those who have money
  6. http://www.economysuperstar.com/milesfox/subaru/service/service.htm well its my newest version of the website. warpthree.com/milesfox disappeared for some reason. this is laid out much better. but i have to fix the dead links, i dont think all my site uploaded. some of the links are looking for files on my computer. anyway here are all the articles which i submitted to usrm. if anyone has articles i can put them here! you can email them to me or just post them on this thread. i can use dreamweaver to make your article all nice and webpage like just as these are milesfox@yahoo.com oh by the way, this is tim hansens server, the guy making the movie, be sure to check his page too http://www.economysuperstar.com
  7. the pics in the article are of a turbo motor. all ea82 the same. the xt6 motor is slightly different but the procedure is the same for it as well
  8. i dumped some in my gas. and since im so cheap im going to fill the can back up with water and return it to wal mart.
  9. and i quote my email response to this guy "forget that chevy van, are you nuts!? subarus are so easy. try lubricating the throttle cable to alleviate your problem. take up the spare tire its staring you in the face!"
  10. yes, you line up the dot with the valve cover gasket seam. this example is used in the timing belt article here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=2648 have fun with the missing belt covers it really will make any work much easier!
  11. maybe the motor was missing the timing belt cover around the crank pulley. unless the cover was loosened and the belts wedged in between the space pryed apart between before the crank pulley. whenever i service a motor or do my own, i take the covers off completely. that way if i break a belt off the side of the road, or need to change a sela later, it saves me all that work
  12. how do you know its not a broken timing belt?
  13. or you can use an ea82 if you drill the flywheel holes out
  14. here is the OFFICIAL timing belt article from the USRM http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=2648 2nd most referred to next to the ticking article
  15. make sure both washers are installed. the flat washer has a slight curvature so the cured side should be out agaist the nut, so that the not holts its torque
  16. correct, the distributor will install woth the o deg mark. but this is only necessary if the disty has been removed. but also you can tear the motor down to the head gaskets and the disty can remain in the cam tower so this is only necessary when the disty itself has been removed from the cam tower. so if the disty has been removed, follow all the timing belt rotation, and back to the 3 marks, one full cycle. from there turn until the o deg mark appears and install the disty so the rotor points to #1 when the motor is at o deg tdc, the dot on the passenger side(usa) will point to the sharp corner on the valve cover, just below the word SUBARU
  17. hey if jims car blows up, just blame it on me since i put his car toghether. blame it on ol' miles fox!
  18. look under the dash. the fuel pump is cycling on and off because the green test connectors are plugged in. these green connectors should be un-plugged for normal operation try hotwiring the coil + terminal to the battery. the ign will come on wether the key is on or off doing this. this will supply yhe coil directly, see if she will fire by doing this
  19. MilesFox replied to A DOG's topic in Off Road
    the bolts will be m12 x 1.25
  20. intake manifolds are exactly the same between at and mt. the only difference is carb intake is different then spfi intake, but between the same intake vs at and manual its the same part.
  21. if the article was up sorry the pics are down due to server relocation. but here is a .zip of the article available for download, back bt popular demand! http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=2648
  22. yo as soon as i get my website in order i would like to use your rx on the rx page i will be doing, part of the "makes and models" section on the site. the site is up but the links are all screwy, stupid dreamweaver http://www.economysuperstar.com/milesfox/subaru/subaru.htm
  23. intakes bolt on the same swapping to spfi block will gain compression
  24. man i just cant comprehend a non rusty rx! i would at least expect the rear gate to be rusted out on the bottom edge. f'n impossible. mine's a pile nice job!
