1988 RX Questions (LONG, and Detailed...)
MilesFox replied to 88targarose's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
it is normal to have excessively good oil pressure on startup. we switched out rx to synthetic oil, and the oil pressure has improved. there are pressure reliefs in the motor and oil pump tp bleed off excessive pressure. if you ever service the oil pump, have that in mind.. we had some smoke/leak issues, the cam cover seals(valve cover) wer leaking onto the crosspipe, causing some smoke hope this helps -
flywheels same for ea81 & ea81T
MilesFox replied to shanonsf's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
..for EA81T. as far as your choice of flywheel, use the one that goes with the tranny you are using ea82's have larger holes for the flywheel, but you can use ea81 bolts with the ea82 flywheel, as the flywheel will still center on the crank snout -

tim, the more thay act on this "aggravation" the more they are setting themselves up. from my perspective in the police station this morning, i think they realize that they are going too far, i bet the tickets dissapear? but anyways, they DID write tickets, a total of 2 parking tickets and 3 infractions, matt, danny, and don(the sedan), as well as myself. so since we do have these tickets, we will present them to a lawyer. i have taken a log for each occurrence, and each of my visits with the police station, to show a timeline. i think the police didnt expect us to be so on top of this like we are. -

hesitation/stumble problem w/ 86 RX
MilesFox replied to Ben L's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
we tried to replace the TPS with an odd one, the replacement was bad, so back to original. it mounts with 2 screws, and if you loosen them, you can turn it one way or the other. we turned it so the car thinks the throttle is moe open, and it helped quite a bit on the low rpm part throttle -
ea82 power windows to manual?
MilesFox replied to snowstormer's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
it will all swap the same, the mechanisms bolt up the same way. the only fitment differences will be the door panel itself, with the hole for the crank, and minus the hole for the window switch. all of the gts can be swapped with the glass not removed. use a piece of hose to hold the glass where you need it to unbolt stuff -
jim, when we were in WV, we bought an oil pan drain plug for some 2 bucks, and it came with a nylon gasket for the drain plug.

well, i have to wait till later today to have the car released by the police, get it out of impound. all of tims paperwork and cell phone is in the car, so we need to get that first. we also need to have the tapes released, and if not that, at least have them let us dub vhs copies for their use(evidence) and let us have the copies i will be requesting video cameras in the court room, and i will subpoenae tim, his camera, and the tapes in court, as well as all of the arresting officers, the land lord, and the occupying tennants. also the license branch lady, that evil wench!! so far the car will cost 60 bucks once officer planck releases it. if the car has been searched already, they no longer have the need to hold it, as the apartment was released after seizure. tim right now is going to the local butler newspapar, and i am contemplating countersuit against the BPD and the county. for one i get arrested on a circumstantial matter, then go on the road, and get arrested again when i come back, dealing with the same officers. the whole event from the license branch to the search warrant, is all on tape, we got everything on tape tpo the point that anything further would have been confiscated, or tim would have been arrested for interfering with an investigation. suppose he could have filmed legally from across the street, but you know these cops, they probably would have exercised their discretion to have the camera confiscated for evidence. so tim played it "safe" for that one. keep tuned, this incident itself will be an example of the libertarian cause that tim represents, it will be an example, i am goint to release all of my court and legal documents to tim for use on this project. this has gone too far it will see its day in court -
the cars are 100 bucks each, i could line up a trailer and a van. i would say 200 bucks will get the car and deliver it to the carbola. the ea81 turbo wagon was parked 10 years ago, it ran, but had a bad turbo seal. but ihave an ea82 turbo and crosspipe to put on the car. if i had the car, i would sell it for what i got it for, or i could do some work to it , seals, maybe a 5spd, and sell it after. but my concern is securing the vehicles before the guy decides to crush them, scrap metal is up right now. suppose if mcbrat could help out, we can trailer both cars to his place, and try to get the one running, if it runs, trailer one and drive the other. if it wont run, would mcbrat hold onto the turbo wagon till we can come and get it? and if we didnt, mcbrat would have turbo parts for himself if we made a deal or such? mcbrat hollar at me................

ea71 flywheel on ea82 crank...???
MilesFox replied to PoorManzImpreza's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
we drilled the flywheel holes on an 81 glf to fit an ea82 motor, the holes are the same, just drilled out in diameter. the timing marks will be off, but you can get odegbtdc from the cam pulleys -

this is like way out of proportion. pushing the limits of the BPD, but they have the discretion to manipulate the situation, its pretty much a routine. we will try to go recover the tapes tomorow, or at least make copies. this is out of control. it will see its day in court. also i will see about retrieving my car from impound. its at maxton's, their tow guy hooked me up with the guy in edon. if it has been searched, i dont see why they cant let it go, the car is registered and legal. what the fo' -
yo i got the hook-up dig on a solid ea81t wagon. act on it before its gone, we can secure it

i have fount the turbo cam on a carb motor/spfi block was best with open headers, low end grunt such as pulling a 7,000 lb capacity 2 axle trailer with a dead soob. 4th gear 2500 rpm all the way

yeah, mcbrat was cool, thanks a lot it really helped. sorry i couldnt use the axle, but it was appreciated. those cars we saw for sale, 84 ea81t wagon, and a 84 gl-10 sedan, were in complete shape, been off the road for 10 years and such. we got home all in one piece. only to catch 2 felonies and have the car confiscated. camera in the license branch WHAT? i think they wanted to get into the apartment instead. -

does anyone know what this might be??
MilesFox replied to mickytrus's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
the only place on the soob motor that i would see appropriate for thread locker would be the timing bely idler pulley on the driver side, and the exhaust studs DO NOT use gasket sealer on a soob, cause the gaskets are graphite faced to allow for different expansion rates -

im tired. im gonna go lay down. i havent slept since montana -
yopu could come to visit a trashwagon and you will be all right. the lifter noise is no big mechanical deal, as far as it wont fail on you. the annoyance will be more your issue. try doing the ol pump seals if that will help

permatex "ultra grey" -
what happened? did it leak all of a sudden? did the gauge pressure fall to zero? all at once? try checking the wire to the pump sender, it runs along the dipstick tube
