josh, so far u ran the trashwagon and the impreza out of oil due to leaky cam covers. good thing the legacy is new, or you will be runnin it low, too you got to develop the habit of checking the oil especially if u sell the car later on!!!!

water pump, or no?,83 GL WAGON
MilesFox replied to tompalushock's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i would remove it and replacemnt the pulley on my 83 wagon fell off, because the shaft had worn down problem developed rapidly and did not last long before broken -
#1 is 1st one on the passenger side, odds over there, even on the other side. the front on the driver side should be #2 the wire on the back of the cap, closest to the clip/screw. is #1, counterclockwise rotation

yeah, that carb motor will be good, only 135,000 miles, it never ran low on oil yosh probably did the rx in running it low with the leaky cam cover anyway, top end issues will be yout main concern, combustion issues. i wonder if EA81 threads will work on ea82, for the head studs, if the length is right too but getting aftermarke tstuds would be rather expensive, i think but i recommend studs if we can find a way to use them

yosh! just make sure you can schedule the office or the building once the date has been agreed on. and i suggest that if we camp put in the woods, we should arrange with the sheriff so they dont assume we are trespassing but everyone keep in mind that if there are crops planted, that will have to keep us to the woods and the pit, still some good baja'n there, too.

see if u can make it to a swap meet here around spring and summer. its already being lined up now. just check back on the progress, as i will be posting here -
Ok, i discussed the baja'n with josh, he said permission can be for sure, but some of the field we will have to stay out of. the best time would be a year when the field is not planted. they had beans lat year, corn this year, i think an unplanted year is due in crop rotation. more details on that as it comes but the field issue is only going to be 25-30% of the available land to baja so now i call those who are interested, those who would make the trip, to pwtition for a date, so that we all can agree and plan our schedule around it. its good to agree on a date so soon in the new year, that way we all can schedule i had in mind between labor day and july 4th. please post ideas for dates.

DIGIDASH reliability?????
MilesFox replied to subawoohoo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i would think the wired up fuel pump is leaving something on if you jump the positive coil terminal to the positive battery terminal, it will turn on the whole car as if the key is on. so you will want to figure out why the pump doesnt come on to begin with try disconnecting the home made wiring, then pluf the green test terminals behind the driver side "kick panel" as i wouyld call it, under the steering wheel with the green clips plugged in, and the key on, the fuel pump will cycle onn and off try that and report back with your findings. let us know if the pump cycled, and go from there..... -
Factory parts / servive manuals
MilesFox replied to roque43's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
try this for parts numbers for 85 and up it lists 2-door, ea82, and xt click on the picture for a full view of the pages from the SUBARU parts reference guide http://www.warpthree.com/milesfox/subaru/service/partsguide/partsguide001.html excuse the layout, as i need to re-do it. -
i have these mounted so that they fit between the inside of tach and speedo from the driver's perspecyive although this pic is not the clearest example, one of those triple gauges will fit on top of the steering culumn in ea82. if you look hard enoughyou will see several places to where switches are mounted

Myoss Feece, get with tom, we should go up there before the RX comes apart, this weekend. so tom can start his xt6 brat project!
-
yeah, it will be good fun. i know that victor would like to cook! get nice and fat for some Baja'n maybe someone will have a radiator for you!

for the serious mindes we need to agree on an Official Date. Josh, the date will be all on you, with the building and all.... as far as off roading, there is a public access to park, go for a ride with thosw wheeling. the terrain is not difficult in most areas, if u dont want to dent, scratch ur ride, stay out of the woods. but there is plenty of open field with a lap around it for rally type driving if permission is guaranteed, i will draw up a map of the course, and establish Right-of Ways for areas through the trails and around the field. lets plan early so we have a good turnout, serious organization.
-
Jim! bring your spfi 5spd dual range. As we might do some baja'n its a good candidate for off roading, better choice than your nicest soobs. that whay you can bring or take back parts. camp out in the woods if we plan to do that. i still got a manifold for you. we may be planning a trip to columbus fro an ej22. in a big red van...
