  1. A driver at jimmy john's (which is becoming a subaru club in its own rite) had issues with no-starts from warm. The car would start with throttle, but stalls at stops. I suggested replacing the engine temp sensor, which i installed. This cured the fail-to-start condition, but now the temp gauge on the dash maxes to H and the fans are on from cold. This is a 3 pin sensor with no other sensor for the gauge. The sensor appeared correct; the plug was a little tight to fit on. I am wondering if i have a pinout incompatibility, Do i have the wrong part? This is the echlin brand from napa for some $22.50
  2. Is this the door lock cylinder? I believe the little clips may be color coded for left or right. I would think one frm a later model or even another brand may fit. Good luck
  3. look up "ECU trouble codes" a google search would find it.
  4. Schlossman's subaru city is better than Sommers in mequon. Subaru city hosts an anual enthusiast meet. It may be worth your while to check out the Don Miller dealer in MAdison, as they support the subaru community and host an annual event as well. I have no experience purchasing cars with them, but the madison dealer was kind enough to ship a part back to mi in milwaukee as i ordered it from their counter in madison at one of the annual meetss.
  5. Mine leaked on the underside where the circular plugs are pressed into the module housing.
  6. Do the bleeding from the wheel farthest from the MC. RR, LF, LR, RF. Check that the abs module is leaking. This happened to me after replacing the MC, then the abs module sprung a leak. 1995 legacy
  7. A true dual exhaust header with an x under the trans would be cool.
  8. There are 2 cats in the exhaust header, perhaps a gasket is blown out. Check the donut wheel. Being an outback model, there are spacers between the fram and the body. You can remove these. You can also go with a lower suspension from an impreza. Struts fit, you may have to mix and match tophats. The car is literally a set of legos, so you will find that a 15 year stretch of subarus will swap parts around.
  9. Check that the head gaskets aren't already blown. , Yours may need a HG and if the labor costs are low, just fix what you have. It would be more work to swap the engine and swap all your new parts than to just eat it and do HG's and be done. if you have any leaks fro the HG replace them, as the ej22e is not prone to external leaks like the MLS gaskets, as this one has composite gaskets, and if they are leaking, they are done.
  10. An ea81/ea82 header would be worth considering and can be engineered to fit ea81 and ea82 cars the same.
  11. #1 on the cap is to the right of the clip on the rear of the cap, looking at the brake master cylinder. Counter clockwise 1-3-2-4 from there. good luck.
  12. The nissan cross reference is exactly what i am referring to. Better a nissan part than a part not available.
  13. There is a solenoid on the firewall as well as one under the intake. Follow the line from the charcoal canister. The canister under the trunk is in later models, but the solenoid is still on the intake.
  14. You likely have the spark plug wires routed incorrectly. Depending on cross reference, you may get a cap that physically fits, but the numbers are different. Firing is 1-3-2-4 counter clockwise.
  15. Try grounding the fuel pump to the body
  16. Black wire with red terminal is pos, yellow wires are neg. there should be a little capacitor on the strut tower goes to neg
  17. I understand. The internet doesn't always reflect emotions properly. This is a well behaved website without flame attacks and put downs. I respect your duty to Defend our country and uphold our Constitution. and freedom. If you get the chance, you should come to Rockerbox 2013 on center street at the fuel cafe on aug 3rd at 11:00 am -7 pm. Especially if you have a motorcycle. This goes on in my side of town just blocks form where i live. It's a fun time for any motorcycle enthusiast.
  18. Welcome from a Hoosier native. Dude, that car is too cool. I think this is the first time i have seen an (operational?) turbo with a carb engine.
  19. That is definitely and intentionally an EA82 subaru. All of the angles are correct. A camry is flatter and more perpendicular with the angles.
  20. IF this is an impreza awd trans, it would be 25 splines. You will need an ea82 axle that is 25 splines, but has the proper spindle for the ea82 hub. Presuming my guesses are correct, you are going to want a 25 spline axle for an ea82 5mt turbo. Try 1988 rx turbo coupe, or 88 gl-10 with 4spd automatic trans (full time 4wd from the parts listings. Basically any ea82 turbo with a 4spd auto, or 5spd manual will be the correct one.
  21. Make sure the ground pigtail from the radiator is connected to the core support. The radiator must be grounded for the fan thermoswitch to operate the fan. Check for proper coolant level, search proper burping procedure.
  22. The hoses may be carboned up like corroded arteries. This can cause oil suction if the PCV is not venting properly. Also check for proper routing of the hoses. A lot of it could be residual from before replacing the PCV valve.
  23. The door lock light being on is normal operation any time the doors are not locked. It is there to remind you to lock the door, as a safety feature. But if the light went out, then that circuit is not getting power. Check the fuse links inside the black box on the overflow tank under the hood. A j-fuse of the same color can be substituted as a replacement(easier to find, free junkyard items)
