I agree that would be cool.... -
Well I sanded the area where the wire connects from the radiator to the steel frame on the front of the brat... I even sanded the wire eye loop connector... No Luck.... I also removed the wire that attaches to the thermoswitch and sanded the connection right on the thermoswitch... Still no luck,, As I said grounding the thermoswitch wire to the frame does not turn the fan on because when I simply removed the wire from the thermoswitch the fan came on immediately. So Im assuming that the wire leading to the thermoswitch must be grounding itself somewhere before it even gets to the thermoswitch. I was hoping that someone else had this problem and found a simple solution instead of me trying to trace the wiring in the harness... Im not to good at that stuff... Thanks for your replys.. every bit helps...

Hey All.. Once again Iam in need of your wisdom.... 1985 EA81 Brat My Electric Fan Will Not Turn On... I did the testing that our Holy Bible " HTKYSA" Book says... When I disconnected the the wire from the Thermoswitch the Fan turned on without being grounded. Both Fans come on when the Air Cond. is turned on.... Does anybody have any other suggestions of where else I can check the wiring... I can only assume that the wire is grounding out somewhere else.. The wire goes into a mess of other wires in a plastic tube. It seems the thermoswitch was replaced once before because the wire was spliced right before it was connected to the thermoswitch. Thanks All... Joe

Hi.. my 85 Brat when started runs at 500 RPM but runs rough.... My other Brat when I start it runs at 2000 rpm and then when I press the gas and release it drops down to 1000 rpm and idles fine and smooth... What should I do to fix the Brat running rough on start??? Also the rough one has AC.. Should when the ac is turned on boast the idel up some??? because it does not do that now??? Thanks Joe

What should our EA81 cars or brats idle at when started? And is there a difference for ones with AC Vs. NO AC???? MY 84 wagon when I start it will idle at 1000 RPM. My 85 Brat wants to idle at 500 RPM's. But the Brat runs rough at this idle speed.. Should I just turn up the throttle screw a bit??? Thanks Again ALL.. Joe

Well I was poking around under the fuse box to reset the EGR Valve ( ON MY BRAT)by doing the wire swap Shawn described when I found a two green wires under the dash that seem to go together.. I connected them and bingo the clock is keeping memory.. But it seems that it might be draining the battery down... Ill leave it hooked up and check it out around 6 PM Monday 7/12. I also found another green wire with nothing connected to it... I looked at this same wire on my other subie and found that wire being used for power to a switch under the dash someone put in that leads to the front of the car under the bumper. The wire gauge is small so I assume it didnt power anything big like fog lights. Anyone use this wire for power for somethin like lights ??? If I can figure out how to put a pic of the Brats wires I will.. Joe
