Removing bearings from axle?
SUBARU3 replied to BlindSight's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
The seals have to come out to get the bearings out. It's best to have them pressed in by a machine or axle shop. I've see lot's of hammer jobs fail in short order and you are back putting in bearings again. -

I have this new NOS Subaru hub and it's NOT for Gen 1 vehicles from 76-79. Is it for a an FF1? It seems to have a smaller hole and also more of a lip. (Like it is for drum brakes)? Any ideas? Anybody need it? Todd

No, it's not you Blindsight. I'm not that quick on the trigger!! It is happening more and more to not just me, so I figured I better say something to keep the peace! What really get's me though, is those who don't pay, or those that don't ship, (after being paid). Todd -
Hey there all: We have talked about this before and I guess we need to revisit it again. I have heard from others that have recently experienced the same behavior from other members, (new/newer members), as I just did. ABOUT courtesy to other board members. I recently took MY time to call someone about parts and offer information, then pull parts out, photograph them and email multiple times. Guess what, no reply, even though this member continued to post on the forum. Please bear in mind that these cars are our hobby and not a business for most of us. (I am an educated, white collar, medical professional). The fun is the friendships and comradery we experience. I do what I can to help others and have helped for MANY years. I know these cars inside and out and just enjoy chatting with other enthuiasts! But my time is valuable, as is yours...please don't waste it!!!! Remember, most of us don't need to sell anything and if you think prices are too high, than go find it elsewhere, or at least say it's too much if that's the problem. Counter offer! Gosh, how do we price a rare piece of stupid plastic trim that EVERYBODY wants??? It's called supply and demand. If you change your mind, simple drop an line to the person. It's really pretty easy! These cars are over 30 years old and finding good parts is VERY difficult. Many of the items that I have, (in particular), I have kept, stored, moved, moved again, let alone buying the item to begin with. All of us on the board are fair, but I assure you, people, are not going to give away new items and quality used rare parts! Sure we all want freebies and good deals and certainly they are out there, but don't expect it everytime! Fair is more realistic. Think about all the time you put into searching, going from yard to yard and coming up empty handed. Then if you do find something you want, you have to pull it, get dirty, sweat, skin your knuckles, wait in line, pay taxes, entrance fees, enviro fees, for gas and time. (Have you priced parts in a salvage yard lately)??? Then you have to shower and clean up when you get home! It's nice to have a part come in the mail ready to put on your car!!! Point is, most of us, with stores of parts, are not just going to give them away and spend OUR time digging them out, taking photos, packing and shipping for nothing. The other point is if you buy something, PAY for it. Some folks will ship and wait for payment and trust it will come. Well some people get the item and don't pay....not cool folks! Let's be honest with each other. I am one of the founders here and a moderator. I have seen MANY people come and go over the years. Please know that we are a close bunch of people. We respect one another. So when we open up dialog with someone who is going to help us....please close the loop. It's not all about just finding our part! Cars are a journey....not a destinaton! We WILL ALWAYS need something, (parts, or information), for our cars and most-likely somebody ELSE will have it Let's have fun folks! Todd (Moderator)

79 Subaru brat window exchange
SUBARU3 replied to newmexicobrat's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Some BRATs were titled 77's Actually any 2 door car door will fit the BRAT, but you have to change the glass. Also, the "car" door had the internal side impact beam. The BRATs did not have these, as they did not have to meet the passenger car safety requirements. So in reality, you are better off wth the car doors on the BRAT! -
I stand corrected....they are $40 each plus shipping. He has me quoted for 4 fenders from Pittsburg to Dallas @ 91 pounds for $105 via Greyhound. I have decided after finding my NOS spare steel set, that I really don't need any more fenders. I tend to collect FAR more than I will ever use! However, these are GREAT for somone that needs good fenders. Please post if you get some of these! And hurry before this find disapears. Thanks, Todd
