  1. There is no way that car has just 22K on it. Look at the rust, the worn carpet, the engine compartment. That's not rust from sitting, that's rust fromm 100K of road miles! It's most likely 122K. That's still low, but far more than represented.
  2. You can easily use the heater valve from any Gen 1/Stage 2 car. I'm not sure why Subaru added such a complicated valve to the BRATs. It's not needed. The standard valve with 2 hoses fits, screws on and operates perfectly. I see your plastic slider tab is broken and has been repaired. That is very important if you plan to operate it from the dash. Also, you can hook hoses directly to the core and add a universal valve in the engine compartment. You can then have full heat all the time and turn it off in the summer! Turn it half way on for warm vs hot. You can get a valve that will work at most parts stores. I think old Ford trucks work nicely. Easy fix Todd
  3. I believe that these will also fit a Gen 1 rear shock requirement. The Monro-matic shocks part number is 33097. When I called Monroe, they told me those shocks were for these cars: 81-87 Ford Granada 78-83 Ford Fairmont 79-86 Mercury Capri 81-82 Mercury Cougar 82-86 Mercury Marquis
  4. I bought an after market O2 sensor and I am LOST as to how to wire the plug, (It came without a plug). It has 3 wires..... 2 black and a blue. The original sensor that I removed has a red, white and a black wire. Any ideas which wire goes to what? 91 Legacy Lsi 2.2 FWD Thanks a million! Todd
  5. The VW beetle rear glass seal fits the Subi wagons. VW beetle for the 70s. Use the CALI version. Todd
  6. Gosh 5 years later and I still need this answered! LOL Shipping another engine. Antbody with some good low cost, crated shipping options? EA 71 Todd
  7. I don't believe that the Hitachi carbs are trash. Actually, they are pretty robust, easy to rebuild and reliable. The Webers will give you some additional power, but at a cost in fuel consumption and reliability. I have seen many, many people try the Webers on Gen1s and then go back to the Hitachis. I use them on all my vintage Subys. But the choice is yours. They run between $150 and $200 rebuilt, but you can find them cheaper sometimes on eBay. http://www.nationalcarburetors.com/
  8. Dan.....just stick a wire brush in the timing hole with the engine running. You will find the timing marks. They are lines, (long and short), with the markings "0" "5" "10" for degrees. Todd
  9. Well, good luck with it. It's always fun to get a new toy!! Hey, do you own a tow dolly? Todd
  10. The parts alone are worth more than a $100. I saw it too on CL. You better get it! Don't under estimate the demand here in the metroplex. I know of 5 Gen 1 BRAT owners and more that are seeking. Grab it! (Unless is just totally beat)!
  11. The 95 Legacy and Impreza are rock solid cars! Easy timing belt to replace and it's not an expensive job at all. Our dealers do belts here for $299. I personally believe the 95 and 96 Subarus were the BEST years. Non -interference engine, so if you pop the belt, no worries. The engine is fine. Yes, the pulleys will need replaced if they were not done the last time. ASK Kits for the belt are widely available and cheap. Come to Texas and get a beautiful RUST FREE Legacy and drive it home! Don't get so worried about the timing belt on this car! http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/ctd/1312276940.html http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/1311790399.html
  12. Can anyone tell me if a 1999 Forester SOHC engine will fit in a 2002, or 2003 Forester? I believe these were essentially the same engines thru 2003? How late of a Forester, Legacy, Impreza might this engine fit? If not, what might need to be changed out? (wiring harness)? Thanks much! Todd
  13. So has this sold? Where is it? Todd
  14. Your voltage regulator is shot. The power to the fuel pump is supplied thru the VR. Todd
  15. Very nice Nollie! 4 years took a toll on it! Glad it's getting a new start! Todd
  16. Nollie: Feel free to email me your list of needs as you develop it. I'm cleaning out some and also have some additional sources of Gen 1 parts. Todd Subaru3@aol.com
  17. Also check inside, high up on the inner wheel wells. These rust at the point where the front wheel apron, front cowl panel and the inner wheel well come together. You have pull back the vinyl covering and use a bright flashlight. Check the entire floor of the cowl. Todd
  18. I would just locate a newer version distributor. I believe you will run into complications trying to switch internals.
