Thanks for the offer, but the 93 is a far different car. (Except that they are both named the same) Todd -

Beautiful car!!! Beautiful location too! You take great pics! What camerra was that and what lens? Todd -
I simply could not resist and bought a 79 Dodge Colt. Not a speck of rust and well cared for by the original owner until 2005. Then someone beat it a bit, but not to bad. I had one before and it was a pretty niffty car. 1.6, 107K , stick 8 speed tranny. I still love my Subys, but its fun to have a new project. Let the hunt begin for those parts and things. This got near 50mpg on the highway! Nighttime pic, so it's not as sharp as it should be. Anyone know much about these cars? Parts???????? Todd

I have the beginnings of, what I think, is a front wheel bering going south on a 91 legacy Lsi 2WD. 99K. It's like a continous "groan" that varies with speed, however it doesn't change tone with any turns, just a moan/groan. Sound like a bearing? Is the fromt hub/steering knuckle the same on the early 90's Legacys and the 95-99 Legacies? Thanks much! Todd

SURVEY New rear glass rubber weatherstrips???
SUBARU3 replied to SUBARU3's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
The VW beetle rear glass rubber works well in the Gen 1 wagons. I use the "cal" look with no reveal molding. The Subaru rubber is obsolete and unavailable. -
SURVEY New rear glass rubber weatherstrips???
SUBARU3 replied to SUBARU3's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
The best GEN 1 rear glass seal is the VW beetle. (mid-late 70s) The glass in the 80s wagons is much bigger than the gen 1 wagons. The 80s cars rear glass rubber may fit, but I have never tried. I would imagine that it is also larger than the Gen 1s. Yes, we need the door stuff too. This is for the rear glass seal though. -
There seems to be a growing need for rear glass weatherstrips for Gen 1 sedans and coupes. (Both stage 1 and 2. Which I believe are nearly identical). It is my belief that we better get these reproduced while we can! We have a company that can do this, but the initial cost is 5K for tooling , plus the cost of the gasket! If we had 50 buyers we could sell then for about $140 or so. That's comparable to what Subaru sold them for. How many people and how many gaskets would you be interested in? (That's the question). Absent a good rear weathestrip, these cars are going to be wet and rusty. Please post your thoughts, suggestions and if you would be interested in a group purchase. If you have other options, please post. Original part # 665002700 Thanks, Todd

More Questions on EA71 heads
SUBARU3 replied to Crabman's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Special socket (part no. 499987006) is required to assemble the cylinder heads on the Subaru EA-81/71 engine. Unfortunately, this socket is no longer available from Subaru. So one can be made by using an articulated 17mm socket and an extension. The articulated socket is useful since the socket is already very short. http://mthobby.pcperfect.com/ch601/images/DCP01893.JPG -

I forgot I used to use a rocket piece, before I got my tool. Check eBay, as these tools pop up occasionaly and are cheap! Good luck Todd -

The special socket is used with the rocker in place. You cannot fit a standard socket to torque 1 or 2 nuts. The special socket is narrow in the center to allow it to fit over the head nut. Todd -
You will also need to shorten the length of the shifter rod. Todd
