1400 suspention question?
SUBARU3 replied to kiwi subbie's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
No, The Gen 1's from 197X to 1979, in the states, are different from the Gen 2s. (1980-198X) The BRATs are Gen 1 thru 1981. Todd -

The wheels on the sube go "clunk, clunk, clunk"
SUBARU3 replied to bratgrl's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Strong chance it's the brake pad sliding up and down in the holder. As the pad wears, the clearances increase. Combine that with even the slightest warped rotor and you have that noise. Replace the pads. Todd -
I agree with the dremel tool thing. I have NEVER been able to get one out otherwise. Don't forget the seal that goes in behind the bearing. That keeps the grease in. Well, a good bath to start with! It's gonna need alot, but the body looks pretty good. Is the floor OK? I'd start with cleaning, assessing all the systems, (brakes, electrical, mechanical), making a list of needed items, Try to turn over the engine, (do an oil change), Flush the cooling system and see if you have anything at all. Of course you will need a battery. You will need a lot, bit you might be surprised after clean out the dirt. Just hope the wiring is still intact. That glove box looks scary! Todd -
WOW.....very nice!!! I'd love to see more pics too! That is indeed a GL. Cloth seats, ashtray lightm tach, 4 spoke steering wheel, quad headlights, wheel well molding and more.....rack, spoiler, bumper protectors!!! Todd

anyone got a gen 1 heater core for me?
SUBARU3 replied to the sucker king's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I think gen 1 and 2 are different, but not sure. Ok......where do we start in getting these fabricated?? I can talk to someone locally, but I am so tight on time, I like to turf that to someone else. I will call the one shop I use alot and see what they say. Todd -

I think we could get someone to fabricate them. I'm sure we could get together an order of 25 or so as an incentive. Put me in for 3 Paul?? Todd -

Oh..I think you could modify and use a different core. You just need a core with similar dimensions. Look through core catalogs. Todd -

If you find them new...let me know too! I had my old ones repaired. They are fairly easy to fix at a radiator shop. Todd -

REAR SHOCKS GABRIAL PARTS MASTER 82018 AC/Delco 520-275 Monroe LE10007 REAR SHOCKS MONROE # 1193 (MONROEMATIC) All Gen 1 Subarus/BRATs take the same rear shock The 82018 # is a good one and should cross to different brands. Todd -
Hey guys: I need a copy/fax/PDF from a Legacy parts manual for the sunroof track and mechanicals, along with part #s. 1995 Legacy sedan. I think 95-99 are all the same. If you have it I would greatly appreciate a copy of the pages. You can even mail it to me. Let me know the cost. Thanks so much! Todd subaru3@aol.com

The coupe, and 2 door sedan are the same door as the BRAT. (Except the original BRAT door does not have the side impact beam). The door will interchange between the 3 styles. It's a wagon door. Do you care to sell it? Todd

I'm told that he was the original owner and drove it on the ranch. It was not licensed for the road. It was rough, but not rusted. Not sure of the mileage I didn't restore it, but helped the company. http://www.thewestsidegroup.com/ Todd
