  1. Kinda....I just don't want it sucking air in my new engine!
  2. Paul.....you asked a master tech? Todd
  3. Did you turn the piston, so to line the groove up in the piston straight across?????? If not , the "nub" on the inner brake pad will not be recessed into it and that will force a new pad too tightly against the rotor...... AND with new rotors too, you can't afford this. Todd
  4. I had to replace the oil pick up tube, (bent), in an EA 71 that I am building up. How can I be sure that the tube is sealed well in the block? I know it was difficult to get the old one out, (very tight) I have a new o ring on the new tube, but I'm still afraid that it might not seal as well as the original. Ideas?
  5. Yes. I can have the stripes made fresh. The pattern is on the cutter at the shop. There were a few variations on that stripe. color differences some of the colored stripes ran to the front of the fender. some of the colored stripes ran to the front edge of the door and then tipped up. some stripes ended like Mary's BRAT and curved up, just behind the door. There were lot's of variations in a lot of things in the Gen1s. That's just Gen 1! Todd
  6. These are the "reproduction" gen 1 BRAT stripes I have sourced. Complete choice of colors. High preformance, commercial grade vinyl.
  7. I was curious...thanks Josh. I guess it's a dealer item then. Don't know where to get flattened o-rings! Todd
  8. Is the EJ22 oil pump o-ring kinda a flat o-ring, or is it a typical o-ring. Mine was flattened. Todd
  9. Well, it was not the resistor. I'm going to try a fluid change next. Todd
  10. The car is a 95 /awd It does it all the time cold or hot. However sometimes it seems OK, but generally, it consistently happens. Yes, I have changed the fluid at frequent intervals. It does seem like it started AFTER a fluid change. Fluid quality issue maybe?? I'l also try that resistor.
  11. What would cause "hunting" between 2nd-3rd shift. The trans is fine otherwise. 80K AWD. If you floor it, it shifts through all gears fine. Under normal acceleration, it shifts 1-2 OK and then 2-3 feels like it goes to 4th for a sec and then back to 3rd. Then shifts to 4th normally as speed increases. Torque converter lock up is ok too. Downshifts are fine also. Ideas? Thanks, Todd
  12. All axles and all hubs interchange between ALL 77-81 BRATs and ALL 77-79 subaru cars. (2 or 4 wheel drive) I think the 74-76 will work too. The BRAT "originally" had thicker CV shafts. No big deal though, as most axles are all mixed up now anyway. todd
  13. The Impreza 1.8 is an EJ motor. It is nearly identical to the 2.2. (also an EJ motor). The Timing belt parts and components are the same. The job is the same. The EA series 1.8, from earlier cars, is what you are confusing your Impreza with. Todd
  14. The horn relay is under the drivers dash, above the interior wheel well. You have to take off the fuse cover and unscrew the fuse block to get to the relay behind. It's a red square type thingy. Todd
  15. It is interesting to ponder Subaru mathmatics! My guess was right. Unless you turn the engine over as many times as there are teeth in the belt, the marks won't line up again. And even then it's questionable. This is good for everybody to know. Todd
  16. Nice! I bet it's glad to have a good home!!! Keep us posted on the progress! Todd
  17. that once you put a fresh timing belt on a 2.2 and line up the timing marks and the marks painted on the NEW belt, that the markings on the belt, won't line up again? Of course the timing marks on the pulleys and crankshaft do line up every other rotation, but the belt marks won't. Todd
  18. GREAT!!!! I can't wait to see it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Todd
  19. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7997072870&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3AAAQ%3AUS%3A1#ebayphotohosting The guy selling asked me, I don't know. I DO know it's no Gen 1. Todd
  20. I do believe the key is shared by the timing belt pulley and the belt pulley. The timing belt pulley just pulls off. Sometimes a "tap" gives it the extra to get it to slide off. Often the key gets a little burr on it and that keeps the timing belt pulley from sliding off easily. Todd
