  1. I have a 1999 Forester S with almost new tires (215/60R-16) that isn't currently running and a 2003 Legacy L SE. Is it possible to put the Forester wheels/tires on the Legacy?
  2. It's been a long time since I've been here, but my 99 Legacy is dying, and I'm looking for my 4th Subaru. I'm currently looking at a 2003 Legacy Wagon. It's a little high in mileage (155k) but the head gaskets, timing belt, and water pump were replaced at 120k. It looks like it's in great condition, but there were 3 problems that I saw. 1) It has very new tires (less than 2000 miles), but they must have hit a pot hole and there's a bubble in the side wall of one of the tires. Would 2000 miles be enough wear on the tires to cause problems for the AWD system if I just replaced the bad one? 2) The check engine light wasn't on butI used my obd2 scanner, and there was a pending p0128 code. It seems like this is a problem with the thermostat or a bad coolant temperature sensor. Is this something to worry about, could the owner be hiding something? 3) Finally, and this is the least of my concerns, there was an issue with the lift gate. I saw the car after a rainy week, and when I opened the lift gate water poured out of the openings that you use to replace the tail lights. I'm guessing that there's some kind of seal between the tail lights and lift gate that's leaking. Am I on the right track with this? Thanks, Steve
  3. Nope, it didn't raise after coming out of cruise control The new tires did cure the binding, but not the other problem. Resetting the computer doesn't sound like a bad idea... It certainly can't hurt. I'll give it a shot tonight. Anybody have any other ideas?
  4. Those are just my most two recent changes. I do have another jug of ATF, so I'll probably change it again next weekend. I'm actually getting all new tires today, so they will match perfectly. I had gotten a little lax on the rotations with the last set so there was a little binding on sharp slow turns.
  5. There are around 175k miles on the car. I just changed the ATF this weekend, and a couple thousand miles (maybe 2000) before that. Changing the fluid didn't improve things. It does seem to have the problem whether the trans is warm or cold. I don't have any CEL's and I haven't noticed the AT light do anything abnormal.
  6. I have a 95 Legacy with a 2.2 and AT. I do mostly city driving, so I don't know how long this has been happening, since it's really only noticeable at highway speeds. It seems that it is revving too high at highway speed. It's around 2000 at 50 mph. I'm pretty sure it used to be maybe 1700 at that speed. When I shift from D to 3, it does downshift, so I'm thinking that it might be that the torque converter isn't locking up. Any thoughts? Is there any way that I can tell, for sure, that it is the TC? I should also add that it does seem to be shifting fine otherwise, and I don't have any stored trouble codes. -Steve
  7. I'll be replacing the HCU in my wife's '95 Legacy wagon with a used unit this week... if it ever stops raining... How does one actuate the ABS sequence control? Thanks! -Steve
