  1. That cars101.com doesn't have the correct info... I had a 91 LS AWD 5 speed that wasn't turbo... I don't know if it has LSD or not, haven't checked yet.. I need to run the # on the ECU at work and see if it has a turbo ECU in it or not...
  2. I took my sending unit out (well, one of the two... Driver's side is just a float, passenger side is float + low fuel light, on the 4WDs, 2WDs only have one sending unit) and cleaned it and my gauge worked for a while, now it's flaky again.. Take them both out, clean them with electrical contact cleaner, clean up the connections, put in some dielectric grease, and see if it works.
  3. Someone grafted a Vivio motor on there? :-P lol (isn't the Vivio the 2 cylinder? or is that the Pleo...) That's cool man! (Although I see the front end of a perfectly good snow machine in the first pic...)
  4. craigslist FTW! Gotta 91 Legacy Turbo for $275.. Bad news is someone put a non-turbo motor in it (I checked the VIN plate and it is an original turbo car) Has all the other goodies though, and it's in real good shape. Only odd thing to me is it's an automatic, and I thought all 91 Sport Sedans were 5 speed? It runs good, I drove it home, just idles like horse poop and likes to randomly rev up to 3,000 RPM :-P But it's cheaper than a WRX and the wife is happy with it (as long as I put a turbo motor in it!) Here are some pics
  5. yeah, I had an 82 that was an automatic (I quickly rectified that!) and 65 was like 4200rpm lol... Did great around town, but I got like 24 on the highway at 65 instead of the 36 that my 83 5 speed did.
  6. If you use the automotive grade stuff, it's waterproof and doesn't trap moisture like the house stuff does (but it's more expensive)
  7. I do see my old 77 Wagon third down on the left (It's the one up to the headlights in water)
  8. That's a sweet car... I found a 4 door in a yard here about 5-6 years ago and I asked about it, he said $100 and it was mine, went back about 2 weeks later with the money and he said "Oh, that car's gone, crusher was here yesterday":dead: Needed a turn signal lens and a rear quarter window, but everything else was there... I used to go to Lake Almanor when I was like, 8 with my grandparents.. Then the campground changed hands and the ppl who bought it were bung munches so we quit going :-( Kinda sad, I had a lot of fun there.
  9. Jeebus that's expensive. Yeah you want the N/A EJ25 clutch kit, I'll get you part numbers on Tueday when I go back to work.
  10. The gen2 Legacy and later gen1 Impreza have a solenoid that's mounted to the strut tower next to the air box, it's not the canister purge solenoid, but I'm curious if it would work in the place of the canister purge solenoid, since it's #1 a lot easier to get to and #2 it's more likely to still be in a car in the junkyard. My Legacy has the same problem, and even with my discount it's $50 for a new one... (My other bad solenoid is the idle air control valve which is $198 with my discount )
  11. http://books4cars.com/result1.asp?findmake=Subaru&imageField.x=28&imageField.y=13 These guys have all sorts of automotive books and stuff... Like Amazon but car books :-P
  12. 1992 Dodge Ram 250, 4WD , 4 speed auto, 5.9L Cummins Turbo Diesel I-6 1968 Dodge Polara convertible, 383 2bbl (have a 4bbl manifold for it but no carb), 1 of 1,205 That's what's at my house... at my parents house I have 1991 Buick Regal Limited, 3.8 V6, 80,000 grandma miles, $2000 obo 1985 Peugeot 505 STI turbo diesel 5 spd, has a nice smoke screen when you floor it...
  13. Yeah that one was cracked like 2/3 of the way around.. This one is cracked like, 1/2" long... I have a good one but it's for an 85-86 and it's too short :-( Maybe I'll just put my cone air filter back on, and put the air box back together on the Legacy...
  14. Get the belt from the dealership, they are a little bit more $$$ but you know it's made to fit your car. I've never had any problems getting the right belt for my car from the dealership :-) Especially the legacies and such that had a different belt depending on what AC system was in it....
  15. the engines will swap, no problems. Just use your catless Y pipe. *edit* make sure it's the center starter EA71, I don't know when they switched to the different bellhousing on the EA71...
  16. Actually, it ended up being a loose distrubutor cap I still have the car too, once I paint it and put a new windsheild in it it'll be for sale :-P Has a new ECU too (Dad found out the hard way his big battery charger/engine starter is not ECU friendly...)
  17. lol I fixed that car a LOOOOONNNNNGGGG time ago... Had a cracked head lol when I dropped the exhaust pipe off there were coolant droplets in the exhaust port :-P
  18. Well, the timing WAS a tooth off, so I got it back on there correctly (Did this like a month ago lol just took me a while to post it) and it runs a lot better but still falls on it's face under boost, just not as bad... I discovered that the boot that goes from the MAF to the turbo has a small crack in it where it goes into the turbo... So I think I need a new one.... grrr... anyone have one?
  19. Slide the tensioner all the way to the right (Your right, as you're standing in front of the engine),tighten the bolts, and put the belt on, once the belt is on, loosen the bolts, slide the tensioner all the way to the left and tighten the bolts. Then pull the grenade pin. :-) Good article here http://www.northursalia.com/techdocs/pdf/engine/dohctbelt.pdf
  20. You could also get a newer unit, they changed the wiring harness at some point, put you can get reverse adaptors from Scosche (They plug into factory decks and give you wires) and just get a reverse adaptor for, say a 2000 Forester and then go get a in dash 6 disc out of a Forester, and couple the 2000 Forester reverse harness to a regular harness for a 94 Legacy. I've got a Legacy deck that works, out of a 92 with no aux jack though... I've also gotta Outback tape deck w/ weather band
  21. Go get an OEM kit for an EJ25... The OEM kits, at least the 2.5 kits we have @ my work, include a new flywheel, and the cost of the kit is marginally more than buying the individual components, minus the flywheel.
  22. When it comes on when you mash the throttle, it means the transmission is in "Power" mode, which changes the shift points and boosts the pressure in the transmission to make it shift faster. If it flashes, it means that there is a fault, there is an article in the USRM on 4EAT code retreival.
  23. Check this out http://www.hackaday.com/2007/08/29/digital-dashboard-gauges/ digital gauges for a Subaru :-)
  24.:banana::banana::banana::banana: (Although it is turbo 5 speed...)
  25. It MIGHT be worth close to that if it was a Syncro, I have seen the Syncro Campers go for $20k
