  1. Another thing to do there Donny is flip the leaf perches on the axle and flip the axle over (So the right side is on the left, and vice-versa) will make the car go backwards when it's in drive.. Since you wanna hit the other cars with the BACK of yours anyway, this helps since you can build up speed better sinc you'll have three gears instead of one... Make sure you have super loud exhaust so people can hear it shift... in reverse... :-P
  2. I saw someone that did that to an old Olds Vista Cruiser, with the raised "bubble" in the rear... (Except this one had an equally ghetto camper as the "Bubble")
  3. 96+ have the standard OBD-II diagnostic port, although it could be some sort of Subaru-specific diagnostic port, I know there are several under the dash of my Turbowagon, that like, pin 2 of the pink connector has voltage when the idle switch is closed, etc... Used for troubleshooting
  4. I did an oil change on a 96 Camry that had the original battery in it... But it also had 43,000 miles on it, and the oil change sticker had the current mileage for when it needed to be changed, but the date was like October of last year
  5. The sixes take the AA030 filter.. Oddly enough, the filter BASE is the same size (you can screw on the A100 filter and it will fit and not leak) but the filter itself is bigger.. Must need more surface area for the H6, I wonder if there's any benefit to puttin the bigger filter on the four banger?
  6. No it's not! the MANUAL trannies are vacuum actuated, the autos have an electronic solenoid that activates a clutch pack in the transfer case, and I am pretty sure that no power = 2WD power = 4WD (Works basically the same as the newer AWD A/T except it's either on or off as activated by a switch, rather than duty-cycle controlled by a computer...)
  7. Most of the Toyota sludging problem is due to customers not changing the oil as often as they should, although Toyota will replace a a sludged 4 cylinder (5S and probably the 4S but not sure) and the V6 (Camry and Sienna engines) up to a certain mileage but I don't know the details. It depends on the amopunt of sludge, and the amount of cylinder damage whether or not you get the whole motor replaced, just the head, or if it just gets cleaned and new valve seals installed. We have a poster about it @ work but I haven't read it super carefully...
  8. I'm pretty sure it was Leone everywhere BUT North America.... I have a Japanese brochure scan that's for an 87 Leone lineup.
  9. It wouldn't be so bad if it lock the doors when engage in a gear, but to unlock them you have to either press the button, or turn the car off. Not to mention that if you do unlock them with the button, and then re-engage the transmission from P, they don't relock. That's odd, the new Toyotas that have that feature lock when you put the transmission in gear, and unlock when you put it back in park.. (Some of them with the transponder keys, or like the Prius and high end Camry and Avalon that have no key at all, won't lock if the key/fob is in the car. (The keyless cars are nice, you just have to have the key on your key ring or in your purse or whatever and when you touch the door handle it unlocks the door and then you just push the "Power" button (Or "Engine Start" for the non-hybrids) and when you get out, you push a button that's in the door handle to lock the doors. It's pretty neat. (Yes, they do have a mechanical key as a backup, but there is no ignition key, just a place to stick the fob if it's battery is dead)
  10. You should be able to find the spring on a DL in the junkyard, as the DLs did not have the Hill Holder (Which acted as the return spring on so-equipped cars..)
  11. Does this count? Oh wait... I guess it needs to have a lift kit...
  12. This is under the cover over the passenger side rear strut tower in my 90 Legacy wagon
  13. I fit 12 in my 77 DL once.. I'll keep my eyes open, maybe they came to Corvallis, a Subaru with hippie stickers would blend in here like a VW @ Woodstock...
  14. Man that's wicked.. You have any more pics? You know those are like pr0n to us... I like the 4WD TURBO on the bumper, I wish ours had that...Man that's so clean looking! Looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor..
  15. I guess by "synthetic" I meant the silicone (DOT5) brake fluid as opposed to the "normal" stuff... Although the silicone tends to clog orofices in ABS valve bodies, since it likes to ball up at high pressures... I dunno why I thought it'd be in a production Subaru.. (Some old British cars used a form of mineral oil in the brake system, oddly enough...)
  16. Cressidas are bad rump roast, they have the same motor as a Supra... I wanna find one, and stuff the twin turbo six in there.. Would be even more of a sleeper than my turbowagon :-P (Esp. since most people look at the last body style of the Cressida and just think it's an overgrown Camry)
  17. I still have mud under the Legacy from WCSS8... Didn't get any on it this time though, since my tires don't have the best tread, I didn't want to go get stuck :-P
  18. Well, my offroader Subaru is sitting in a friend's field, waiting for me to have a spot to put it so I can get it running again, and I haven't had a chance to take the Dodge up to the mountains yet...
  19. Quick way to check, is brake fluid is water soluble, most other car fluids, save for antifreeze, are not.. So if it washes away with water... (This only applies to Propylene Glycol brake fluid, if it's got some of that synthetic stuff in there, it might not be water soluble, although most of the synthetic stuff is purple).
  20. This guy is almost as much entertainment as ruguru was... Although he was just all talk and no show, where this dude just makes you wonder what kind of crack his mom smoked, or how many times he fell down the stairs as a kid.
  21. Well I thought I had the problem fixed, it's BETTER now than it was before I plugged the loose PCV line back in, but it is still lacking on power. Idles just fine, off-boost power is good, although I don't know if it's "normal" or not since I've never really kept off the boost before.. Well, I have, but not while I was accelerating lol, but it seems like when I get on it, it just doesn't "go", and seems to "go" better at low boost than at high boost.. Once the RPM climbs a bit it's better, but it's slower than my wife's 1.8L FWD automatic Impreza I'm thinkin boost leak, but not positive... I didn't take a lot off when I put the cams in, only other thing I can think of is I cleaned the MAF with brake cleaner cuz it was full of oily gunk... I know I need to go EJ but that's not within my budget at the moment... Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
  22. Why not trash something that there are too many of, like a Honda Civic? :-P
  23. Would be worth it if it was an RX (EA81 RX...)
  24. At least mine runs but it'll be getting an EJ as soon as I can afford it :-P
  25. Is it a 4.0? Those are known for leaking valve cover gaskets, which drip oil onto the cam position sensor (It's on the back side of the block) and cause it to go TU.. Remember that the trouble codes in the computer indicate a problem with that particular CIRCUIT not necessarily that sensor. Check the connector, and the wiring for that sensor....
