  1. Might want to get some "Dry-Z-Air" stuff, they sell it and "DampRid" (same thing) at Home Depot, and most RV/Boat stores, it's a little bucket and you fill the top part with these pellets, and it absorbs water out of the air, they're under 10 bucks and one would be plenty for the car, definately helps keep from growing a mold farm! Last time I was at Home Commiepot, the "Damp Rid" things were like 5 bucks, they work great!
  2. Someone needs to make her a baby-sized SWRT jumpsuit :headbang:
  3. Dude I went to Wyotech with had a lowered/bagged S10, got pulled over once and the cop told him he needed "Ground clearance" so hit hit his switches and raised it up, the cop even posed for a picture lol... Last time I had a cop hassle me about my exhaust, I got stopped in a parking lot one night and my car searched becuase "someone called in and said a car fitting your car's description was driving around pointing a gun at people" and since I had no guns in the car I let 'em poke through it, and he said my car sounded " a little loud" and looked underneath and saw my cherry bomb welded to the Y pipe and said I needed a muffler, I was like dude, that is a muffler down there, and then he was like "Well, you need a complete exhaust system"...
  4. I paid 1850 for a 90 LS AWD wagon, has a few dings and it needed a front axle, but everything but the AC works on it. How's the interior? Mine's dirty but no rips/tears... 4 years ago I bought a 91 LS (Thank you Richie!) sedan for $1400, had a reconstructed title and a few dings here and there, but everything on it worked.
  5. It should fit in the blank spot for the rear gate latch, unless his car is 85-86 and has the power gate latch, in which case I THINK there is a blank spot on the left hand side of the steering wheel that the XT foglight switch will just snap into.
  6. Last I checked it was like $50 to have the vacuum advance rebuilt. The website said one price, and I was quoted a higher price by the person I emailed, said "Oh the website is out of date" so you might wanna check, if it's still $45 on the website, you should be able to get that price, or it's false advertising...
  7. Probably the CD player was too much juice for the stock speakers. Here's a link to the 2007 Scosche fitment guide, just look in the Subaru section, it'll tell ya what size speakers will fit. http://scoscheweb1.scosche.com/pdf/Scosche_2007_159_219_appl_guide.pdf
  8. I had an 83 GL-10 2WD 5 speed sedan, had power steering and AC but I took the belt off the AC cuz it didn't work... I averaged 28 in town and 32-36 on the highway, depending on how I drove it. I don't miss the lack of power but I DEFINATELY miss the gas mileage!
  9. Just curious... I got outbid on a D-Check reference booklet, and judging by his buying history, he buys more Subaru parts than I do! *grumbles* oh well, hopefully if it is a fellow board member he'll be kind enough to post the D-Check codes...
  10. Running lean would cause high NOx (but it would also cause excess HC) but you might want to check your EGR, that is one of the emissions systems that controls NOx emissions... did it fail the NOx emission @ idle or @ high speed?
  11. If that doesn't work, bite it, take their $, adn then buy the car back and either fix it and sell it, or part it out, either way, could make your money back. Only bad thing is then it will have a branded title
  12. when did you livein Corvallis? I've lived in Albany since 95, aside from my 1.5 years in Wyoming, and I moved to Corvallis in December of 06... I wonder if that dealer is one of those cash talks and bull**** walks dealers? Like walk in with $500 cash and maybe get the 800 dollar one... and if he won't take it, just put your money back in your pocket and walk away....
  13. What did you have to do to the crossmember for the tranny? I'm contemplating going EJ with the turbowagon, and I'd be using an EJ trans since I don't feel like mucking with an adaptor plate.
  14. If you weren't back east, I'd say just go to a junkyard and find one... Should be lots cheaper! Although some yards won't sell cats...
  15. They actually had outbacks very late in the 95 model year, they had the "outback" on the back as a sticker, like the OBS, instead of the actual plastic logo... At least that's what I read lol...
  16. Some legacy turbos had a standard clutch type LSD, others had the viscous. The only problem with the viscous is they take like seven spins of one axle to fully lock.. (Same with the viscous center diff on the legacies, I got a tire off teh ground on my 91 once and it spun and then the coupling caught and I rocketed up the driveway lol..) You should be able to get the silcone-based fluid @ the dealership.
  17. Fabrication is no problem lol. I know it works on a 2nd gen since my buddy Jon put a regular Impreza bumper on his 95, looked pretty spiffy but the red was slightly faded so it didnt' quite match up lol.
  18. I think the RX dual range trannies are 1.1:1 but I think that's only the full time boxes, the part-time turbo trannies are 1.2 like you said, as far as I know. I wish it was lower lol, like 2:1.. Just doesn't seem right beign able to be in low range at highways speeds... (My truck tops out at 25 in low) I was under the impression that the DR turbo trannies were somewhat hard to find lol although I have I think two floatin around...
  19. I'd like to swap the interior in my 90 wagon with the gray leather interior out of an LSi if I ever find a complete one lol..... Mine is currently red with icky tan interior even worse since the seats are dirty. Tried using my upholstery vacuum on them but they didnt' come clean :-( Carpet looks really good though lol. If addign cruise is easy enough, I'm going to go yank the cruise of of the next subie I poke in @ the wreckign yard, Jessica's 93 Imp doesn't have cruise, and long drives in it suck...
  20. Will it fit? My 90 wagon needs a new front bumper, thought I'd swap to a 2.5RS bumper with the big rump roast fog lights... Make up for the fact my headlights suck lol...
  21. Should be 65 since I think that's the speed limit in Washington. In all reality, probably 100 or so tops, I've never had an NA Subie even that fast...Except my 83 GL-10, it topped out at 107 but it took a LONG time to get there!
  22. The non-turbo GL-10s also had MPFI, however I heard that it was only in 85 they came this way, and I have yet to find a non-turbo EA82 GL-10 (I used to have an 83 GL-10 that wasn't turbo...)
  23. Current daily driver: 1990 Legacy LS Cone air filter, new OEM clutch.... WRX wheels as soon as the weather clears up lol 1987 GL Turbowagon XT turbo engine, 5 lug swap, XT6 sway bars front and rear, leather shift knob, dual range part-time 5 speed turbo trans, custom exhaust (2 1/2" straightpipe, no muffler), hollowed airbox. Mods to come: WRX intercooler Delta cams Probably will eventually get a turboed EJ swap but not for a while... My old 84 4x4 wagon 344,000 miles on the motor... lotsa rust! My first Subaru only mods I ever did to it were I swapped it to a 5 speed with an EA82 2WD 5 speed, put a cherry bomb on it, and swapped the steels for a set of white wagon wheels. Was on it's way to being pretty cool when some arsehole T boned me...
  24. Make sure you use some Permatex 2 or other sealant around the water passage at the carb base or it will leak water into the intake. (NOT silicone, use the green snot lookin stuff in the tube..)
