What gas Mileage do you get?
Hondasucks replied to Davalos's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
87 GL turbowagon, 5 speed d/r, 5 lug conversion, I used to get 24 in town, 26-28 highway, now I get about 20 city and 23-24 highway (needs an 02 sensor, I'm just too lazy to put it in) 90 Legacy wagon, 5 speed, FT4WD, 24 or so in town, 26 highway 93 Impreza EJ18, 4EAT, 2WD, 18-20 in town, 24-32 highway. This is a weird one, if you drive it a lot in town, it gets worse and worse mileage, then if you take it on the highway it gets better, best was 32 coming back from Wyoming, and after a good road trip it'll get 25-26 in town, which will drop from there over several tanks. Just for kicks: 92 Dodge Ram, 4 speed auto, 4WD, 12 valve Cummins diesel, 16-18 city/highway (doesn't get much better on the highway, although on long trips grannying it up hills, I got 22 MPG coming back from Wyoming, unloaded. Loaded I get about 14 or so, depends on what I'm towing and how many hills I have to climb, I averaged just under 14 coming back from Wyoming in December with my Polara on a U-Haul trailer (those things are WAY under-rated, I had to have at least 5000 lbs on that trailer...) Best mileage I ever got in a Subie was 36 in my 83 GL-10 2WD 5 speed sedan, cruising up to Vancouver @ 55. Best mileage of any car: 82 VW Rabbit diesel, 38 city, 45-50 highway. (But topped out at like 65 unless you got a nice straight stretch) -
ford taurus map light on loyale = pics inside
Hondasucks replied to moshem74's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Some Crown Vics have like a snakelight type thing for the map light, it folds up when not in use, and then you can fold it down and pivot it wherever you need light. Not sure what years had 'em, my cousin had one in his Mustang, said it was out of a Crown Vic. -

When I did my 83, I cut the hole out at the bottom as you mentioned, and I just took the ash tray out and put the power mirror switch where the ash tray was (you have to sort of wedge it in there, but it fits) -
for those pesky ones behind the bumper, a 10mm ratchet wrench is your friend.

I got it, the cylinder snapped right out with a trim tool :-) I had to get it out since the seat was in the locked position lol -

Check out this old BRAT workhorse!!!!!
Hondasucks replied to SuperBrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Who says they didn't mow it? How do you think they uncovered the Mopar enough to pull the engine? -
The seat belt control unit is on the driver's side of the car, mounted to the strut tower in the rear. For wagons, you'll have to remove the speaker (Might have to remove the whole side trim for the cargo area, but IIRC it's under teh speaker) and for sedal models, you'll have to remove the rear seat back, which is not too difficult. You *might* be able to get at it from inside the trunk but I'm not sure. It's a black box with a connector on it, will probably say "timer unit" or "Seat belt timer" or something to that effect on it. If that's unplugged, the auto belts won't work and the light won't come on, however it could be cooked and just not making the light come on.

I've got an 86 XT that the rear seat in it is trashed, but since I have the original key, I can still lock the rear seat. I got some seats out of an XT6 and I'd like to retain the locking function, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the lock cylinder out of the seat, any suggestions? I don't care if I trash the original seat since the cover is trashed anyway, but I don't want to fubar the new seat if I can help it.

How the F*@# do U get the Hub Nut off??
Hondasucks replied to Bucky92's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I've discovered that an impact wrench is a lot easier and a lot more fun than a breaker bar when it comes to axle nuts... But not everyone has a compressor, and most electric impact guns suck lol -
Big Thank you for Zap and Ken,and crew
Hondasucks replied to sparkster58's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Yeah thanks a bunch to everyone who had a hand in organizing things, I'd like to help out next year, since I'll be in Oregon lol, I really wanted to chase down those jackasses in the old (75 or so) full size Ford and 80s Ranger that showed up right after the mud pit was winding down, and right after the cops left, the full size decided to sit there and rev his engine like he was cool, and then the Ranger did a mad cookie and really tore the %$*%* out of the grass.. if I had had my dodge I woulda blocked the exit so they couldn't get out lol.. I sure hope they(And the dillweed in the STi who decided to do a cookie, then ignore Ken when he chased him down hollering) don't make the fair people decide not to have us back next year. And I was not one of the loud people SAturday night as I left at like 10:30 lol (and if I had been there, I would have been respectful and quiet) -
Ed beat me to the "first" pics, but here's my pics from the show, if you see a good pic of your car in there you can get a hi-res print from Webshots for pretty cheap, or click "view full size" and download the hi-res version. http://community.webshots.com/user/hondasucks1983/ They are in the "WCSS8" album.

Who needs a truck when you have a wagon?
Hondasucks replied to msteel's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I've had three in the back of my 77..... and six in the back seat..... ... and two in the passenger seat ----all at the same time :-P Shoulda seen the look on my friends dad's face when the 12 of us were standing in front of his house and he's like "how'd you call get here?" and we all turned and looked at the Subaru and he just shook his head and walked back inside... -
My 1990 legacy wagon has issues with the heater controls, there is a constant squeak squeak squeak from under the dash, sometimes goes away when you shut the ventilation system off. Also, the heater/AC controls dont' always work, the air doesn't like to come out of where you have it set (when I first got it, air blew out the defroster vents regardless of where you had the controls set, then after a while it would switch) and the blower fan works when it wants to. For example, tonight I was trying to charge the AC and I'd hit the "A/C" button and the light would come on, but the compressor wouldn't engage, and if I started pushing buttons I got the AC to kick on and the fan to come on, but it's really annoying like in the morning when I'm driving to work and freezing my arse off because the only air flow I'm getting is the natural flow through the car, same deal on the way home when its 90+ out and I've got the windows down and the sunroof open because the fan won't work... but it's intermittent so I'm not too sure where to start, I suspect that the control unit is bad but I don't know how to test it. Also, if it is bad, is it possible to swap in the electronic climate control?
