  1. Sounds wicked, aside from the Duracrap Better than a Powerchoke but sure as $#($( ain't a Cummins (although in the interest of weight savings, a Cummins wouldn't be a wise choice, my 92 weighs like 1200lbs) GET PICS!
  2. Or it was plugged and loose, and blowing in it simply popped the hose off the fitting.
  3. The pricing is pretty good, they quoted me like $45 or something like that to swap mine, although I had to pay to ship the dizzy up to them; ended up just getting a good one out of the junkyard.
  4. Buy it back, let them total it, adn then see if any of the community colleges in your area have an auto body program, and see what they would want to fix it. Might take 'em a while but at least you'd have your car back in good shape, that doesn't look bad at all!
  5. Just make sure you get that mofo tightened back down lol, ask me how much it sucks when that bolt falls out at 45 MPH... Likes to bend stuff, and tear up tires.. (Wasn't my fault the bolt was loose, I bought the car out of a junkyard, and one control arm was missing, well I guess they had started taking off the drivers side, and realized they needed the pass. side, since it was the passenger side that was missing, well to make a long story short I'm driving along and that quick I hear squealing ruber and my car starts pulling really hard to the left, I open the door and my tire is stuffed under the car, so I jacked it up, stuffed the control arm back in, and I found the bolt but the nut was gone, but I had a nut in the back that fit, which got me to the industrial supply house, where I bought two grade 8 bolts with locking nuts. Bad part was it stretched out the ball joint on the end of the steering rack which made the car shake, so I ended up having to replace teh steering rack as well.
  6. I guess I'll see what I can do with the stock piping, might have to ghetto-fab it a bit to make the turbo pipes, I know that's been done before (Wish I had a better pic of Sean's old RX, since he made his own piping with black ABS pipe, and as far as I remember it had a stock IHI turbo. I will probably be swapping to a TD04 at some point, just not at the moment :-P
  7. Okay, I got an 87 XT Turbo engine for my turbowagon (lol actually I scored the whole car...) and I've got a WRX I/C I've been meaning to put on, well now is the time to put it on... I've pretty much got down how to attach it to the throttle body, I'm just gonna put a longer hose on it (The stock one won't let the I/C clear the throttle linkage) and I THINK that the stock plastic pipe that connects the turbo to the I/C can be cut and used to link the I/C to the turbo, but I'm not sure, and I don't want to cut it up and have it not work, and not be able to drive my car :-P I did a search, but it loooks like most of you that are running an I/C also have a WRX turbo, which doesn't help me since I'm using the stock IHI turbo :-( So anyone who might have some pictures/info that I could use, it'd be greatly appreciated :-)
  8. He went to the dealer and looked it up, it SHOULD be an EA63, the EA65 is some weird overseas engine, but it's still 1400cc
  9. it'll have to pass emission standards for the year of manufacture, and since cats require fairly precise control of the amount of oxygen in the exhaust to function properly, chances are putting one in won't do any good. Tune it up as best you can, might have to tinker with mixture, etc.. but just make sure you take in in there with new filters, and a fresh tune up and you should be fine.
  10. okay so I registered but the paypal thing just says "You must be logged in to access this page" and asks for my password again, tried again, same result. Does it when I try to pay for the mugs too.. so I'll try again tomorrow
  11. Bolt it up and see if it works, oh and I'll give ya $100 if you bring that EJ22 drivetrain outta that one legacy to me @ the show :-P
  12. If it's just a whine, that's normal straight cut gear tooth whine (Why car transmissions use helical gear teeth, aside from reverse which has to be straight cut since it is a sliding gear), but if it makes horrid grinding noises, that's bad... :-P
  13. I was once quoted $400 EXTRA per wheel to have some TSW Revo wheels made in a 4x140mm lug pattern... so it can be done, just $$$$$$$$$$
  14. I usually just wedge my drink in between the 4WD lever and the handbrake in my turbowagon, or if I'm lucky enough to have a passenger I'll have them hold it :-P I have thought about cuttin a hole in the flat part of the dash and sinking a cupholder in there, but I'm afraid I'll cut into something or that it won't work and I'll end up with a hole in my dash.
  15. Took ya f'in long enough! but good job bro, better mob out here for WCSS8!
  16. Last head gaskets I bought were Fel-Pro, cost me $21 a side from CarQuest :-P
  17. There's a book on the history of the Subaru Impreza, and in the beginnging there are some pictures of the old Legacy rally cars, as well as an EA81 hatch
  18. Actually the GL-10 interior package started in 84, I had an 83 GL-10 that had normal GL interior, no fuzzy door panels, etc..
  19. well I found out why it's not lighting up... NO BULBS! Pulled the trip computer out, and the bulbs and holders are gone, so time to dig through my shed and see if I have any bulbs... I'm sure they're the same as the small bulbs in the instrument cluster (like the ones for the graphic monitor hooziewhatsit)
  20. well I popped teh cap off and checked it yesterday, turns out I was a tooth off, re-set the dizzy, static timed it to 20 degrees, and then fired it up and busted out the timing light, got it set at 25 like it's supposed to be, runs like a champ now :-) (And will outrun a 99 Civic )
  21. It's the passenger side front cylinder I was using as #1... I'm gonna go out there today and mess with it, I remember when the turbowagon did this I had it a tooth off so I'm hoping that is the case. As for it not running with it 180 out, I had the dizzy in 180 off on my old Datsun I had in high school, it ran, just didn't run well
  22. the digidash in my 86 GL-10 works great EXCEPT for the light is dead in the trip computer, so unless the sun hits it just right you can't see teh display, and since the fuel gauge is flaky, it's kinda nice to have the "Range" function on the trip computer. Any idea what I gotta do to fix the light? surface mount LEDs from Digi-Key? or those tiny lamps they have at Radio Shack...
  23. okay so my 86 GL-10 turbo sedan pings to high heaven unless I granny it (especially bad under boost) and it runs a little on the hot side (210), I suspected the ignition timing so I hooked up my timing light and I see NO timing marks, rotated the dizzy back and forth and it wanted to die one way, and it was against the bolt teh other way, pulled the bolt out and rotated it to see if it got any better that way, still no luck. I suspect I have the dizzy in 180 degrees out, but I'm not 100% sure. I remember when I did the timing on my 87 Turbowagon I had to connect two connectors on the firewall, but I don't know where they are on the 86 and I can't find my manual and there is nothing in the USRM...
  24. check the governor, could be apple cored. Might not be, but I've heard it's a common problem.
