wtf someone burnt down fort Clatsup
Hondasucks replied to soobmater's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
I've been there myself, was quite a while ago but I remember making beef tallow candles (still have them, AND the mold!) and going through the rebuilt fort. Don't worry about "not goign there again" they will rebuild it! -
My Dad spotted this on Craigslist, anyone on here? http://portland.craigslist.org/car/107714140.html

Hondasucks replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
only stickers on the turbowagon are my "Oregon Rally Group" sticker adn the Autometer sticker that came with my boost gauge. The truck's gota ultimatesubaru.org sticker, a "Work sucks I'm going wheeling" sticker from the t-shirt shop in Moab, Utah, a "SCCA #4" sticker (it's on theback window of the cab though, wouldn't come off), and one that says "I'm tired of all the BUSH*T" lol.. -

Hondasucks replied to 88rxsedan's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
190k and some change on my 87 turbowagon, no clue how many are on the motor though (it's cool though cuz the serial # on the engine is all ones except for the last # is 5), adn I average about 18 up here, but I get 22-24 back home, roughly 25-26 highway back home, here I get about 23 on the highway. Stupid altitude... -
vacuum gauge 'cool factor'
Hondasucks replied to fj401968's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Not sure on EA82 engines but on EA81 engines there is a bung (huh huh huh you said 'bung' huh huh huh) in the driver's side of the intake manifold, pretty much directly above the intake port. I just unthreaded the bung and threaded the fitting that came with the vacuum gauge in the the hole (Bung hole? ) and piped the tube through the rubber plug where the wiring harness comes through. My boost gauge in my turbowagon is threaded into a similar bung that is on the back of the manifold, directly below the base of the throttle body. MAke sure it's in there tight, not tight enough to break off but tight enough that the threads seal. Not sure if the SPFI or carbed cars have the bung there, but pretty much if you either use a bung, or just tee into one of the vacuum lines that comes directly out of the manifold (Some of the lines only have vacuum at certain times, and I wouldn't use the PCV since you might get oil in the vac. gauge) -
Calling John Bloom (again)
Hondasucks replied to NoahDL88's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
All I have to say, is EVERY SINGLE TIME I have gotten something from John, or had him help me out with something, he's always come through for me, and I've known him longer than I've been on the board! lol... Sorry that folks are having trouble, but every time I've been down to his place he's been knee deep in projects, and as for stuff getting stolen, not sure what anyone else would want with a Subaru bumper, but there are some idiots in Eugene that will steal anything they think they can get $$ out of so it would not surprise me. -

hey, one thing youcould try.. When a car launches, the weight tends to shift to the rear, which in a RWD car is a good thing, but unless you race in 4WD, try putting some stiffer springs in the rear. This will help keep the weight on the front of the car during launch. See if it improves your 1/4 time... -
I live in Wyoming... We had snow the first weekend of JUNE! and our first snow of the "winter" was the last weekend of September (Well, Sunday Sept 30th and Monday Oct 1st...) but oddly enough it hasn't snowed since, and oddly enough the forecast doesn't include any... Hrmm.. (Doesnt' mean it's not colder than %*%*$ here though!!!) *edit* I'm a dumb %*%*$, that weekend it snowed was the first weekend of OCTOBER (that Monday was the 4th) chroist I can be a moron sometimes...

Hey, Subarus do not leak oil, they mark their territory! (Much like Volkswagens..) WElcome to the board!

Also, most turbo cars have zero intake-exhaust overlap, or close to it. N/A engines use the overlap for a "Scavenging" effect (The partial vacuum created by the hot exhaust gases expanding out the exhaust port helps suck in more air) but in the case of forced induction, this would force boost pressure (and air/fuel) out the exhaust port.

I dunno about slowest, I've heard that Unimogs are pretty slow, at least the old ones. 5,000 lbs + merc 6 cylinder, I think top speed is like 59 MPH in 6th gear :-P (Read on one Unimog page "You will be the slowest thing on the road. Diesel rabbits and Geo Metros will pass you going up hills"
