  1. I saw a FULL SIZE 3/4 ton camper special Chevy, like mid 70s style, with a FOUR CYLINDER, NATURALLY ASPERATED Isuzu Diesel in it, and it looked VERY factory. It was a BIG 4 banger, it didn't look like the little itty bitty 4 cylinder they used in the Isuzu trucklets.
  2. I have a complete flywheel-clutch-pressure plate.. A LIL rusty but can be cleaned up, but the flywheel isn't burnt or anything, if I can't use the clutch on the XT (I think it's a 4WD clutch but it might be a 4WD not sure) then you can have it for some of that 10% alc booze
  3. If your center diff is locked, first make sure that all your tires are the same size and same treadwear or you will eat the new tranny. You could also install a drive line lock and just unlock the rear driveshaft but that'd only work if the viscous coupling is fully fuzed... But yeah, make sure your tires are all the same brand, model, and size, or you will eat teh new tranny. Also make sure they are all the same level of tread wear (new tires on the front and bald on the back will eat the tranny as well!)
  4. That's cool you got it fixed, but what's a Suburu?
  5. I have it on my computer, and I watched it a while ago.. I had posted about it on the old O/T forum... I remember cuz I was like "Hey, is that a Subaru wheel?" and I rewound it and sure enough... And yes I have a good memory, but it's selective.. I can remember the house we moved out of when I was 4, I remember my first day of kindergarten, hell, I still remember preschool, BUT I can't remember where I set my socket wrench when I'm working on something, and if my mom gives me a list of 5 things to do, and doesn't write them down, I usually remember the last two
  6. is that a stock WRX scoop on there Caleb? How did you make it fit, mine is too wide and hangs over the lines in the hood. Did you just shave the edges off the scoop?
  7. :slobber: :slobber: Thanks Guys, I drowned my keyboard in drool...Tell Sean he owes me a keyboard :-) haha j/k
  8. yeah, possibly, but EA81 and EA71 pistons are flat topped, with no valve dish (although it's not to common for GEARS to jump lol) and yeah, I think that is why they are non-interference, the valve dishes in the pistons.
  9. I think we need to make this into a "Subarus in the movies and on TV" thread, and after a while when the list of movies is about complete, compile a list of movies/tv shows with Subies in them, and stick it in like, the MISC section of the USRM or something. Seems like every coupla months up pops this thread And movies I can think of with soobs: Cannonball Run -- black turbo hatch Big (With Tom Hanks) -- XT6 Say it isn't so -- pimp DL wagon Not a car, but in the MacGyver episdode "The Gun" in the beginning, this kid picks up an EA81 or EA82 wagon wheel (from a stack of 3 or 4) and uses it to bust out a window.
  10. I know the 85 wagon I had, if you shifted without the clutch the shift light wouldn't go out. (And if you put the clutch in and then back out it would go out for a lil bit until it sensed that you hadn't changed gears.. weirded me out it could tell if I HADN'T changed gears, but couldn't tell if I had without the clutch...)
  11. try spraying the poop out of the carb with some seafoam, and then rev it up to about 3,000 RPM and stuff a rag over the carb throat with the throttle still open, this will (hopefully) suck any gunk out of the carburetor. also, have you checked your cap, rotor, plug wires, and plugs??? This does sound like a carb problem, but it never hurts to check...
  12. It really should be close to 0 with the switch closed, but 3 ohms is good enough to make the lights work. That other switch might be your 4WD switch... Check for power at the switch with the car on and in reverse, should be power on both sides. If you only have power on one side, it's the switch..
  13. Les Schwab sells tractor tires, as do a lot of farm equipment stores.
  14. Gather up all your receipts, and get on cars.com, vehix.com, and autotrader.com and look for cars around there that are about the same vintage and options as yours, and take these with you when you talk to the adjuster. This will help you get a little more cash. Also, save that motor if it's got a cam it it! You can also buy the car back from them for very little (I think Mike paid like, $50 to get his back) and then you can part it out and get even more $$$ :-)
  15. Or you could tell him the MAP sensor was fine, but it was out of timing belt fluid and the clutch gasket was leaking and the muffler bearings were bad
  16. even if it DID have fuel injectors it'd still have spark plugs, gotta ignite that fuel somehow! I'd replace the fuel filters, and change the oil, plugs, plug wires, cap, and rotor. Get NGK plugs, they are what comes in them from the factory, and are the plugs I've had the most luck with. Bosch Platinums are nice, but the electrode is so small they foul really easily. Welcome to the board, and no we aren't all guys (The females that come to mind are Honda's 86 Brat, MiNoah's Pink Martini, Vickaroo, and BlueSoob.. I think there are more and if I left any of y'all of I apologize ) and GD a car WILL run with two blown head gaskets, if they are blown into the water channel. If they are both blown between the two cylinders, then no, it won't; run, BUT that won't cause water to shoot out of the radiator :-)
  17. IMHO the seat belt laws are there so that someone doesn't have to drive by and see you splattered all over the highway.. A simple way to bypass the dinger would be to... well... I think you can figure it out... And no these aren't new, in fact, I Think it was 73 Subarus would not start unless the seatbelts were buckled, in fact, there was a switch in each front seat, and the "Seat occupied" switch had to close BEFORE the "seatbelt buckled" switch closed, or teh car would not start (to prevent people from just buckling the belts and throwing them behind the seat) They eventually did away with it, but I think that it was because they had problems with it, rather than people were annoyed with it. And the reason I make people wear their belts in my car, is so that if I do get in a wreck and they die, I don't have to live with it for the rest of my life that someone died in my car because I didn't make them buckle their belt. (I've been known to stop in the middle of traffic until a passenger buckles up!)
  18. I was at the rental place one time, and some ricer had decided he didnt' want his pretty paint scratched, so he parallel parked across like, four spaces (it wasn't a parallel parking area). Oh how I wished that someone else had been with me to park real close behind him, and then I know I would have sat there and laughed my tailshaft off watching him creep forward, then back, trying to get out.. I love it when someone parks sideways across two or three spaces to keep from getting scratched.. Used to see it all the time at school, and when I was driving the 4x4, I would usually squeeze in next to them as close as I could get.. I didnt' care if they keyed my car or hit it going out cuz it was the 4X4 anyway...
  19. Only thing I would be concerned with is the load rating, an ATV definately weighs a lot less than a Subaru does.. (I dunno about a Metro, those things are a pregnant roller skate made out of beer cans...) so I'd be concerned about blowing tires, but I wouldnt' be runnin' 'em on the highway anyway... What would be cooler is a set of 14" Kubota tractor tires :-) They even have the proper 6 lug pattern to be re-drilled for our Subies! Talk about your wicked mud tires...
  20. I might be there friday evening, I am thinking about picking up Snowman from the aeropuerto in the morning, heading back down to Albany, and then heading over to Bend and cruising up 97 with the rest of teh gang, not sure though...
  21. if it's a California model it WILL have EFI, I think they started using EFI on the CA 4WDs in 86, not sure, but I DO know that by 87 the CA models were EFI
  22. Kinda like the time I wasted a riced out Accord in a 97 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel... 5 speed... Oh, and did I mention, I was towing an 8,000 lb hay baler at the time??? The look on his face when he saw the baler was PRICELESS....
  23. That's not a 2.5RS wing, the 2.5RS wing is taller, although I HAVE seen a 2.5RS with that wing, the wing you have is just the optional 2.2L wing.
