  1. yeah my Dad's DVOM has bad leads, my good one got stolen, and my cheesy 5 dollar one I fried :-| I do have a thing my Dad got me for christmas last year that has a bunch of lights on it that shows various voltages (has like, lights for 10, 12, 14 and 16 volts or something) I tried it and according to it the alternator isn't putting out any voltage, but my charge light doesn't come on... Ill check it out tomorrow when I have daylight.
  2. OK something is %%*%cked up on my turbowagon. I am pretty sure the alternator is fried but I dunno. If you jump start it, it is fine, but the instant you remove the jumper cables, the voltage gauge drops, and then it dies soon thereafter. I've put three different batteries in it (Although I have not tried using a fully charged battery yet which is my next step, just kinda hard cuz I currently lack a battery charger), all to no avail. Even tried leaving it connected to the other vehicle for a while to hopefully charge the battery, but no dice. Any ideas?
  3. well let me know when you move things as i'm still interested in it, should have the $$$ after the holidays.
  4. yeah, if you have a prob. with someone on the board, take it up with them first. I've met Matt a couple of times and he hasn't really irked me too much (Aside from beating me in MY OWN CAR at RallyCross GRR) [just givin ya a hard time matt)
  5. EA82's came with SPFI, and the manifold will bolt onto an EA81, you'd need the fuel pump and computer and wiring and stuff, but it'd be a lot easier of a swap than MPFI.
  6. Yeah Amanda, you need to come! Subaru girls are always welcome at my house :-)
  7. If you take the door panel and the plastic vapor barrier off, you will see 4 or 5 adjusting bolts. They look like a stud that has a slot cut in the end for a screwdriver, with a locknut. These are to adjust the window. I am not sure which one does what, but I'm sure if you adjusted the back ones you could get the window to seal.
  8. Austin -- I dont' have your number so call me tomorrow night and we'll work it out. There is plenty of room for the two of you to stay here, I've got a spare bed + the couch downstairs.
  9. hell yeah, can always have more Subaru chicks in our group lol.. My friend the subaru girl has to work that weekend so she won't make it :-( It would be in his best interest to come down Friday since we leave at like 7AM saturday morning. I have a really comfy couch you can sleep on if you need a place to crash :-P
  10. Well, it's not a wagon, but I had 95 LSi wheels on my 91 LS sedan Here's a pic of it near The Nipples, near Moab Utah last Spring Break, (Shortly after this I got it stuck in the "Sugar Sand" that my then-GF's mom warned me about, but a quck push from 4 people got it out)
  11. OK here it goes... At the mall with my then-GF in my 83 GL-10. Some %*%*head in a not-all-that-lowered Honda was C R E E P I N G over the speedbumps to avoid scraping his non-existant bodykit or something, well I laid on my air horns at him cuz he was pissing me off (No reason to go THAT slow over speedbumps) so the next speedbump I go to pass him, and I give it too much gas through the corner and slide right into a curb, caught the ball joint on the curb, bent the lower control arm and the stabilizer rod, felt really dumb after that one :-P When I was 17 (Might as well have been 16 since I had just gotten my license) my friend Randy and I were out drivin around in mom and dads old 93 Sable wagon (3.8 Liters of Honda-killing V6 power..), anyway me with little driving experience AND a car that handled liek crap, tried to take a 10MPH corner at liek 40.. Hit gravel, slid, jumped a ditch, and set the air bags off. Told mom and dad that I had swerved to miss a deer, which they bought since it was right by a game preserve. $3000 worth of damage to the car, yeah, it sucked. That's about it for stupid car stuff... although the other night out cruising my friend Juan did an e-brake slide into the parking lot where we were all hanging out, right in front of the cop taht was at Wendy's next door gettin a burger. Told the cop hsi brakes locked up... I did a right in front of mall security once in the Sable.. Told him my foot slipped off the clutch (It was an automatic) and he bought it. :burnout: :burnout: :burnout:
  12. Hey, if he says it's affordable, and I can't afford it, can I sue for false advertising?
  13. well Austin you know you could just come down to Albany and stay there Friday night and get up and mob down to Eugene with me, have a Soobatrain goin :-P Cuz I plan on leaving around 7 and it is about 45 miles to Eugene from Albany.
  14. The STD was a stripped down DL. I had one. The DL in 80 and 81 had the round lights, the GL had square ones. Quad lights I think appeared in 82 on GL 2WD models (My 82 sedan that used to be 2WD has quad lights, but I've seen 4WD wagons with the single square lights) and 83 and 84 the DL had the square lights, and the GL had the quad lights, STD retained the round up until 1988 when they quit making the hatches.
  15. The technician is a moron. All cars sold in the US 1996 and newer are OBD-II, and I am pretty sure that Subaru started putting OBD-II in their cars in 95. OBD-II (On-Board Diagnostics II) actually runs it's own emisssion test, so as long as that check engine light is off, it's good to go as far as the on-board computer is concerned. Granted, computers make mistakes but it's not all that common. Most faults will be picked up by the computer.
  16. Anyone else ever checked this out, http://www.automotiveforums.com/ looks pretty cool, Not too many in the Soob section, but would be a good place to point those of us who have probs with other cars than soobs :-P
  17. either one works for me. Austin, send me some pics :-) I'm sure unless I find something totally f*cked up with that Legacy I will be down with it, from what I have seen it's straighter than my turbowagon. Do you have the air struts you took out? If so, please include them :-) I will be in Portland this weekend like I said, so get me those pics before Friday and I'll let you know. If that does not work out, then we can do it the following weekend if you'd like :-)
  18. ooo sounds cool :-) Count me in if it's cheap :-)
  19. Yo austin, any chance you could mob that Legacy down to Portland or near Portland this weekend, I will be up there working on a friends car, and if you wanted to bring the leguhsee down so I could have a look-see at it, and if it looks good (I'm sure it will but I want to look @ it before I commit to anything) I will hand over the Turbowagon to ya.
  20. I thought that it was the EJ16 that had a distributor, and the EJ18 and EJ22 used DIS? (I know the EJ16 was never imported, and I suppose a japanese EJ18 might use a dizzy but I'm not suire.) Just remember what I heard...
  21. Count me in!!!!! The 4x4 is itchin for some Snow! And if it's not ready, I've got the Turbowagon, or the Legacy if I have the Legacy by then.
  22. well, from my experience with Datsuns, the R160 and R180 are interchangable, it's the R200 that is not a bolt-in replacement.
  23. Yeah I need to go to the next meeting as well, to voice some opinions. I think the unnamed driver is just bitter about the Brats since he LOST to one. IMHO he should take his supercharged Durango to Woodburn if he wants to kick some arse, since I've never seen a big, huge, heavy, SUV with lots of power as the ultimate rally vehicle, but to each his own right? Maybe we should have liek,a mini-ute class, and a full-size SUV class?? Like, group all the Soobs, and import trucks, rangers, S10s, what not together, and then all the full sizes.
  24. If I had to guess, I'd say look on the transaxle where the speedometer cable would be if it had one, that is usually where the speed sensor is located. I'd check the wiring and whatnot before I replaced the sensor though, those can be expensive! Also, is it still under warranty?
