This is kinda a bad pic but you can see the Green where the wires where toasted bad. Not only that it looked live someone drove this thing across the Skagit River during Flood season......without using the bridge. That kills is what kills the wires. I'll post a better pic later, I left my camera in the shop and I have not put my shoes on yet. :-) Jeff

We got it all back together, But ........... the power steering pump was bad on it, so since we where there we figured we would just fix it too. come to find out that power steering pump on the XT is a lot different than on a regular gen 3 wagon so We changed overthing over to the bracket so it would work right. Well some where in the change over things didn't work out so good cause we were able to shread a belt in about 30 sec. the pully seems to kinda be bent in some way or another. not a big deal yet just making more work for tomorrow. :-\ Jeff

Today my dad talked to the guy who owns the wagon, I had talked to my dad about what everyone one the board had said, My Dad asked him what he wanted for It and he said 800 bucks firm. So the deal is over. My dad didn't bother to try and explain anything to him or even give him his price so This Subaru can sit for ever for that much money for all I care. I do have to say thank you to all of you that replied to my post. I give you guys alot of the credit for saving me or my Dad from buying a P.O.S. Jeff PS I do get $50 out of the deal for putting in one of my starters, So it is not a complete loss to me:grin: -
That link you sent us was very helpful, mine was just as bad as the pics that other fella had, we are right in the middle of putting all back together. Jeff

this is what I've done so far is look for a strpped wire somewhere in the harness thus is what it looks like. I think I've been looking in the wrong place:rolleyes: Jeff
-
Wow, this is becoming more and more confusing to me. I hate trying to play the what wire to check game:-\ . Chris are you getting all of this? I know the average person would be able to understand all this But I know nothing about Electrical stuff. If I can't run it straight off the Batt. I'm going to have a hard time. Jeff

I got one Just last week it was an 85 wagon it has not pump or any power stearing lines anywhere on it, and its a GL. Looks Like I got a one of kind, Lucky me. No power Stearing:rolleyes: That's my luck Jeff -
I checked it with the spark plug on the wire and The wire itself, I have not done an inline check yet. Compression Check is going to happen tomorrow morning. I was thinking and even said it to Chris right at the end I wonder if there is Bent valve or just a bad cyclnder. It does not have the TOD or anything like that. The worst part is, is that sometimes it runs perfect, It didn't do that today but the last time I drove it was last winter and it was about 30 sum deg. out and it ran great for 5 days and then it started missing again. I have replaced the cap and rotor, plug and wire. so I am pretty sure it is not a spark issue. I think that it is in the wires that tell the injector to shoot the fuel but I don't know where in the car to try to find this "place" to fix it at Jeff

So I have a huge problem, I have an 88 XT 4 wheel drive It has the MPFI in it and it won't fire on # 1. Chris (Audio file) and I have gone through the entire wiring harness and check all the Injectors and did everything in the book that tells you what to check for.....And Still it is only running on 3. Has anyone ever had this before, Is it the ECU or should I just through it away? It has me  . And I just want it to run. Chris Checked a whole bunch of stuff, and I dove into the Harness thinking that it had a short in one of the wires. I just don't know what to do anymore If any one has any Ideas let me know The specs on the car are 88 XT 4wd It has the spider intake on it MPFI 135.000 miles If there is anything else anyone needs to know ask me? Jeff

Right on. Well I'll shoot low to begin with and see what kinda reaction I get. If it is neg. I'll just walk. I have the parts, time and knowhow to get it going again but I don't want to work my butt off putting a motor together just to have a tranny go boom, or nickle and dime my self to death till I end up replacing every moving part on the car. Thanks for the Info to everyone. I'll let you guys know what becomes of this down the road. Jeff:headbang: -

Yeah I did, My brother-in-law is using it to go back and forth to bellingham for the week. I just put some Seafoam in it and it helped clear up the little flat spot it had going on. But I don't know if seafoam could clear this one up to make it run better. Jeff -

That ticking is what scares me the most. He said its been like that for the last 75,000 miles witch could mean it could end (blow up) anytime.:-\ Jeff -
New to me 87 RX (horay!)
one eye replied to audio_file's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I know the "white XT" I was looking at 2 years ago was a 2wd turbo, but you would have to buy the whole car. That's the only thing that sucks about going out there. Todd has one over at his place if all else fails but I think he would want to sell the whole car too:rolleyes: Jeff -

There is an all subaru Whole car sale place in Anacortes. The guy who owns it name is Ed. I think he got in trouble for not having a junk yard permit so he has to sell whole cars now no parts just whole cars. He has a lot of Crap there. Its right off reservation Rd and hwy 20 there. I don't know if there are any RX's there I know a while back he had a butt load of XT's but he didn't know if they ran or not and he wanted 400 bucks for it. Jeff -
So my neighbor has an 86 GL Wagon, It has been sitting next to the road for the last 11 months, My dad and I called him up and asked him what the deal with it was, and he said that he had put some new stuff on it before he parked it, CV axles and some other stuff that was little. It just needed a starter, So I put one in that I had sitting around. I got it started and it has a very loud tick in it on the # 3 cyclinder. I don't know if it is the T.O.D. But you can sure tell that it is there, Idling or driving down the road. He said that he wants to get rid of it, and Since I'm trying to own every Subaru in the world I figured I would pick it up. It runs Very well but has that tick and 279,XXX miles on it. How much do you think I should offer to him, I don't want to offend him but He asked what I would give for it. It is an 86 GL Wagon D/R no dents or scrapes, The hatch light stays on like the gate is open all the time, but its closed, the muffler is rotted off, some of the stripping on the side where it says Subaru is missing, the power steering does not work, and all the seats and carpet looks brand new. I don't know how much to offer. I think 500-600 bucks would be the max but, it has it real goods and real bads. Let me know what you think. Jeff

Need engine advice - What to put in the '75?
one eye replied to carfreak85's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I got one. It still has the motor and tranny in it. Just pretty much everthing around it is gone, Doors, Windows and the inside. On one of your trips back up To bellingham you could check it out if you like. It is in Conway at exit 221 off I-5 about 5 mins. Jeff -
that was very cool! Jeff
-
All have mud tires but Ben is not locked up I don't think. That would be cool to go up that way I went up there 2 or 3 years ago with Brian but I almost made it around the gate to go up there but I didn't. I want to stay away from Big rocks and tree stumps. that's all the more I ask. I think that's a good plan to go up that way. Jeff
-
Well at this point, it looks like its going to be woody, Ben and I. All three are lifted brats. Will, did you ever figure out the door issue you had? Jeff
-
It is a D/R. I'll have to get a hold of Scott and see what kindofa deal we can work out for a lift. Jeff
