Today was pretty fun up there I didn't get to many pics but I got a few. All said and done I think everyone had a good time, This is one of the first trips I've gone on and not had to get trailer home. Chris Did pretty dang good for being stock and going through all this stuff. Of course there were a few spots where it kinda got messy but all and all things went well. I have a few more pics I'll upload in a bit and I'll post them here later. Jeff

True, Just for record that was right next to the road at baker lake. There was a lot of compact snow there, and I wanted to broad slide through the corner, as you can see that didn't work out. Brian did this trying to pull me out. Jeff

So does anyone know if there is like 25 feet of snow up there or is it pretty clear of snow? Jeff

I am 99.8% ready. All the more I have to do is get the extra axles and my spare tires on board, But otherwise I'm good to go. Today I took a big step, My buddy Will and I finally made a skid plate for my brat. For those of you who have wheeled with me before you may remember I never had a skid plate. The first few times I ever went out I torn the exust bolts all the way out to the point where the Y pipe was just hanging. After I rebuilt the motor I put 9/16 or 1/2" Studs in and never had a problem but I was always worried about messing them up. No more worries about it now. I also took care of my tranny mounts and the bolt I broke a while back with Scott. It looks Like we'll have two other toyota's coming down too. So over all that'll be 5 of us Just in My crew comming down. I'm starting to loose sleep already. Jeff

I got it to start working, just by clicking it for about, no joke, 45 min straight. All of a sudden she was just like new. I will have to replace it soon so all the info I got will be used. thanks guys Jeff

If I were to just change out the whole starter that would take care of it too wouldn't it? Jeff
-
I have now had 2 gen 3 wagons that every time I go to start, all it does is click, sorta like the battery is dead but its not. I don't know if it is in the ign. switch or the starter. I just put a new motor in it and want to crank it over but all the more I get is that friggin "click". I don't want to dive into the wrong part and make more work for my self so I figured someone on here would know. Jeff

Should be fun to try and make it up that big hill by Wal-mart and home depot right near your house there. I wish my Brat was more over the road worthy, I'd come over and play too. Its hard to believe that there is 6" of snow there last time I was at your place it was 101 deg at your place at noon now its all Snow. Can't wait to see the pics. Jeff

Boy, I don't plan on going into anything like that with mine. I still have a 16" hole in my hood. The hole is for "Maximum Preformane" ,It was a drunk Idea in the shop one night. Good thing I quit drinking. Jeff

I talked to Todd (todds) today, He said he might pull the old green Brat out, there still is a big maybe, but it would be cool if he could make it out to come play. Jeff

I finally welded my rearend up. It wheels a lot better, but It seems to like to go through the rear axles. I don't like that. Jeff
-
Hey scott, Will and Woody are lifted but Jake is not, He does have 14's on his Gen one and is going to be locking up the rearend. Jeff
-
That sounds good Scott. We are going to meet at Conway shell @ 8:00 am. That is at exit 221 head East back over the freeway and you should see it. Jeff

4 speed vs 5 speed 4 wheel drive
one eye replied to one eye's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I might just not need to use 5th gear unless I'm going down hill off the pass. With the 4 speed in it now in 4th gear at freeway speed 60-65 mph, my spedo says 42-45mph at about 1900 to 2100 rpm. but I think the gears are shorter on the way shifting up which would help. Jeff -
4 speed vs 5 speed 4 wheel drive

Will the clutch kit fit on the splines of the five speed from the 4 speed? or do I need to change that all out too? Jeff -
I got into it, and did all the stuff you guys said. I still had no fan blowing, so I took the blower motor apart, just to find that it had work the brushes all the way down the the copper wire, then through the wire. The only thing left was the spring and a lot of shavings. Jeff

I have 30X9.50X15s on my brat do you think that will make a big differance? Jeff -
Hey ken are you going to bring your toyota or a subaru? Jeff
-
Would there any advatages to putting a five speed 4x4 tranny in my Brat. My reverse pops out all the time, and I have a five speed sitting on the ground in my shop with the drive line. I just want to know if it's a good idea or not. Jeff

1600 or 1800 engine, how can you tell ?!
one eye replied to Greenley's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
1600 (ea71) have a light blue valve cover, While 1800(ea81) has A more green or sea green color to it. Thats the main way I always tell. Jeff -
So whats the count of people for this run. I have Will, Jake and me. for sure. possibly Woody Jeff

I'll check it out. I have the blower motor out and there wasn't any kind of nest in there I was thinking the same thing. But It could be that one of those blocks just "gave up" it has 225,000 miles on it so little things like this might be bound to happen. Thank you for the advice. Jeff

The heater fan in my 88 wagon has gone south. I took the dash part off to check the switch, levels 2 and 3 already didn't work, I was unable to get any power out of it. I then checked the fan, no power there either. Yesterday I smelled "something" burning, I think it was wires:rolleyes: , then today It stopped working all together. Oh the fuse is still good too. I have no idea what to do. Jeff

I think I'm going to bring my Brat. I would like to take the wagon but I've only driven it up and down the road next to my house. I just don't want to work the bugs out 75 miles away from home. My Buddy Jake wants to come to, he has an 80 Brat, I sold it to him about 4 months ago. He's a little wild so he's going to run his down on a trailer just in case. Cody (numberonestunner) is going to try and get the day off too he just wants to go for a drive. He recently bought a 77 wagon from me and wants to get it cleaned out with a good drive. Will, will probably come too he's got an 82 lifted wagon. I'm really looking forward to this. I think I might get a muffler on the brat before I go too. That thing is so loud driving down the freeway I can't even hear the radio. Jeff

We could also meet at Joe's (G I Joes) right at College Way. Jeff:grin:
