  1. Also, I've been facing several huge problems this 2020 year, after the loss of my Father. Among them, my Mother was left stranded in the middle of Europe because she was about to get the airplane to come back to Honduras, when suddenly the authorities there, decided to establish by decree an indefinite quarantine for the SARS 2 coronavirus pandemic; the lock out happened at the ides of march... We were struggling to find a solution to help her to come back home and to keep her safe, several days passed while we waited, when I had an accident while walking on a Hardware Store's warehouse; I fell from the mezzanine and hit the concrete floor below, with my right side Knee. Long story short: due to mixed circumstances, we managed to bring mom back to Honduras in a special flight which was going to land in an airport far, far away from home in my country, landing the mere same day when I had a minor intervention on my right knee by an orthopedist, who extracted seven full syringes of synovial fluid on past April, and I just got out from his clinic and drove 1,200 kilometers non-stop on this baffle less Sorento, to pick up my mother from the airport. I disinfected every luggage with a can of Lysol, prior to place 'em inside the Sorento's trunk; we followed all the bio safety regulations and went back home immediately, and stayed locked for fifteen days, due to legal quarantine times' regulations. Everything went right healthy wise, except for my right knee, who decided to fail ... the pain was deep and terrible, just felt like an endodontic on my knee. I miss the times when my knees were known as the "Left" and "Right" and now they're the "Good" and the "Bad" ... I am getting better slowly from this nightmare that left me in bed with deep pain for weeks... it needed two more interventions in May, to get better, and is Feeling much better now, thanks to God. Prior to start the trip to pick up my mother, I switched off the Eco mode, the Kia Sorento (in which I modified the engine a little by removing the obstruction on the oil feed to the pump) raced pretty well, highways were almost alone, empty during these quarantine times, so I kept it between 80 MPH and 100 MPH sustained nonstop speeds going down and up hills, drove all day and night long, and the Sorento literally Flew like an airplane on the road, while the baffle less engine runs smoother than ever, noticeably even at idle speeds. I only shut off the engine for half hour, because I reached the airport when my mom's plane already had landed, she was waiting for her luggage; then after half hour, restarted the car and we traveled together back home, without any problems, thanks to God. I only miss the stability of my Subaru "BumbleBeast" on Highways, even the kia Sephia feels better in stability than the Kia Sorento, but this is a much taller car with shorter suspension for sure, despite that the Kia Sorento only measures ~ four inches longer than the Kia Sephia, it is wider. Here's a pretty short video, I was driving during night times on the Kia Sorento... slowed down to record this footage. Please be Careful during this CoronaVirus Pandemic... Greetings and Blessings. 2. I believe that this thread might better be moved to the OffTopic subforum. My father, the one who purchased brand new our first family car, the Mercury Comet Coupé in 1969, and I, were about to do a little travel on it, for its Fifty Years Anniversary last november 2019, and we just obtained brand new 20W~50 Valvoline's "MaxLife" motor oil, brand new oil Filter and a brand new electronic Fuel Pump, as the old one (also electronic, as I changed it two decades ago), started to fail due to low usage rate... We wanted to celebrate the Milestone of fifty years of continuous ownership, when my Father suddenly passed away; he was 74 years old, he wasn't ill nor suffered from any illness, he went driving his pick up truck to a place, where suddenly got a fulminant heart attack. My Family and I feel very, very sad and the emptyness we feel couldn't be described with words. He thaught me how to do basic maintenance on Cars, in this Mercury, when I was a little child in early 1980's; I learned how to change a fuel filter, how to change motor oil, sparkplugs, radiator coolant, etc... and to be with him, learning and doing lot of things, always felt amazing, to the point that a repair felt very exiting. I learned many, many things from my Father, such like Honesty, to be sincer, to be kind, to treat everyone in the way I would like to be treated; to work hard... in fact I started to work at the age of Ten years old, alongside with him, and now I'll continue, like him, until God call me. My beloved coupé will run again, but without him, feels very empty. I have stopped working on cars for a while... then I had to service the Automatic trans on my wife's "KiaStein" while my Subie "BumbleBeast" keeps going on Strong without any issue, but my Mercury lies inert on the Garage... Looks like a Car that has been parked since new there, flawless but covered in Dust, the tires are loosing their air, they're at half pressure now, and despite of having a Compressor at home, I don't find the courage yet to touch it...
  3. Thank you for your Kind words, which I really appreciate. Kind Regards.
  4. I've not changed anything, yet... in part due to the horrid situation of the Coronavirus Pandemic and its many different consequences, such like Quarantine times, stay locked at home, etc... Also in part because I've had health issues with my right Knee after a falling from a Mezzanine at work; so the level of usage of my Subie, decreased a lot this year and I've not reached the mileage I spected, yet. Please be careful during this pandemic times, take care of your loved ones and you. Greetings from Honduras.
  5. Appreciated Sir, Photos are not displaying on your post. Could you fix them, please? Kind Regards.
  6. Since my Father loss, also his pick up truck and the house got somehow, sudden several damages at the same time... I had to work hard repairing both; different things such like changing some wooden parts that sustains the roof and the Aluzinc sheets of half the house, including several other repairs on it, such a brand new water tank (the new one is Plastic, while the previous one was built with the same bricks and concrete of the walls that cracked) and changing electrical wiring. Sadly I had to remove the Amateur Radio Antennas, my Father got a license to bradcast worldwide since 1977 and now I had to remove the antennas from the Roof because the antenna's base was installed on the cracked walls of said watertank at the roof top ... this is very sad. Also I fixed his Pick Up Truck, from small dents, issues on the Brakes, removing windshield to replace the rubber and placing it back, etc ... it has fresh paint and now only needs an alternator. But that is offtopic here. ______________________ Coming back on topic, finally I got my Hands on the Mercury, this mere weekend. I removed the exhaust manifold to change the old worn gasket with a brand new one, "Fel-Pro" fully metallic that I found easily on eBay; I'm surprised how easy is to find good replacement parts for these MuscleCars from the '60's decade, at a very good price. I wish it would e that easy for our vintage Subarus...
  7. Having had a huge lack of free time nowadays, I've done nothing to my Mercury... yet, but I already found a couple of New Old Stock electric fuel pumps, as the one on my Mercury has locked seized... Also, I found the sales brochure with photos of the complete lineup models for this Mercury 1969 online, includes photos of its Prototypes, which I've never seen before: ~► https://classiccarcatalogue.com/MERCURY_1969.html Kind Regards.
  8. Dual Range transmissions for modern Subarus, are available in USA, here: ~► https://jdmenginesimport.com/details/1079/subaru/jdm-subaru-5-speed-manual-transmission-99-05-2-5l-forester-legacy-4-11-ty755xs1aa.html#prettyPhoto There are other sources as well... Kind Regards.
  9. Back on Topic, Dual Range transmissions for modern Subarus, are available in USA, here: ~► https://jdmenginesimport.com/details/1079/subaru/jdm-subaru-5-speed-manual-transmission-99-05-2-5l-forester-legacy-4-11-ty755xs1aa.html#prettyPhoto There are other sources as well... Kind Regards.
  10. Offtopic, but Subaru sold isuzu vehicles as Subaru, such like the Subaru Bighorn (trooper II) while isuzu rebadged some Subies, such like the Loyale (isuzu Gemminett II) and the Legacy (isuzu Aska) more info on this: Legendary thread. (underlined words are web links) Kind Regards.
  11. Thank you for your Kind Words which are really appreciated Yes, my Beloved "BumbleBeast" is still running and offroading occasionally in Honduras. Now features some scratches done by my paranormal Dog while climbs on it... Kind Regards. (as usual on my posts, underlined words are web links)
  12. I forgot to mention two things: One is that maybe, the sales of Subaru in Mexico could be part of the SOA (subaru of America) and thus means that if it is so, they'll be USDM specs. Latin America received Subarus directly from Japan, thru the Dealers... but there are some Subarus that came from USA to the Latin American countries, even running on highways and roads from USA, like my beloved Subaru "BumbleBeast" and many others... many came used from USA inside containers on merchant vessels, so, in Latin America, some Subarus are USDM specs, and the others sold locally are LADM specs. Second thing: Underlined words are web links to further information on the subject as usual. Kind Regards.
  13. Subaru started selling cars in Mexico recently, since 2005, due to their protective economy to safeguard their local industry (they build cars like Kia, Honda, BMW, General Motors, Ford, etc...) Subaru gained access in 2005, but Subaru sales in Mexico are not significative, so, maybe you can find Subarus in Mexico but is like finding a needle in a haystack, somehow. Better search online prior to go, include Subarus in Central America, Guatemala and El Salvador have Subaru Dealers; Honduras lost the Subaru Dealer some years ago... being the last Subarus with LADM (Latin American Domestic Market) Specs, sold in 2012... there are but few. Kind Regards.
  14. There were Subaru Foresters being sold in india as Chevrolet Foresters. Here in Honduras... But you'll need to buy the Whole vehicle to obtain the needed parts. Kind Regards. Underlined words are web links to further information on the subject.
  15. Maybe one rim is bent from the inner side... worth rotate the wheels, the front ones to the rear in "X" pattern and check if the issue changes...
  16. Several persons are retrofitting those EA82 DOHC heads from the New Zealand's AutoFlight company, and seems like the hardest part is to obtain the Head Gaskets, as it will need to be Custom-Made; the timing belts are used directly from another car's engine. Besides an RX model running with DOHC EA82, I saw an XT Turbo, a.k.a: "Vortex" whose owner has a series of videos online, regarding the Retrofitting Process, See: Kind Regards.
  17. Thank You Because the smell and the fumes were strong enough to be noticeable outside... maybe scaped from the filling tube cap? That, plus the kind of fail that the car developed, made me search on that area... Kind Regards.
  18. Blocking the coolant passage is a Must, otherwise you might get hydrolock or cracks due to water getting onto the cylinders... Erasing the EGR has proven befefits for the engine, but some people need it to pass emmissions... Kind Regards.
  19. Mid 1984 to be exactly. Edit: here's an Example: https://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/122906-the-awesome-older-generation-picture-thread/?page=63&tab=comments#comment-1141474 I Agree. Good Luck.
  20. This Brat was for Sale... https://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/169413-1983-brat-fs-feeler/ ...Any news about it?
  21. Sorry. I'll try to be more specific next time. Lesson learned... Kind Regards.
  22. Like saying "to change Sparkplugs, you'll need to open the hood First" ... So, After both areas cleansing, some power windows' problems get fixed, without needing a Relay swap... You swap it only if needed after the Cleansing. Kind Regards.
