  1. It is quite simple, no writeup needed, just remove the old standard bulb, and place this in its place: ~► http://www.amazon.com/Putco-980116-Universal-Dome-Light/dp/B0016KBQ0G I did it years ago... ► Edit: I forgot to say that the Panel comes with different plugs, shaped as the different bulbs used in dome lights... Kind Regards
  2. Welcome! The Backfires and High Speed idle sounds to me like vacuum leaks, plus the Hitachi Carb might need a Rebuilt; The idle speed screw is next to the accelerator cable's plate at the Carb, but if it was working fine and nobody has touched that screw, the problem could be the Carb itself, and / or vacuum leaks. The timing on the Early carburated EA82 should be adjusted at 8º +/- 2º, but I run mine, which also is 1985, at 20º and I removed the Crappy Hitachi carb, and swapped in a Weber Carb = Better low end torque, better response and cleaner engine bay, without the Spaghetti of hoses around... Good Luck, Kind Regards.
  3. Why not to make one engine from the Two? I mean, to disassemble the Junk Yard one to take its heads and do the Valve job; then decide which block you'll use by seeing its internals. Kind Regards.
  4. In order to see if your subie has the Nippon Denso or the Hitachi distribuitor, you must provide us with Photos; but however if your subie is Carburated EA82, then the 2WD (FWD) models came with the Nippon Denso, and the 4WD (AWD) models came with the Hitachi. These EA82 engines doesn't like expensive Sparkplugs, they work the same with the Stock ones, and there is a version with grooved electrode; part number: NGK BPR6EY11. About Oil Filter, there are three sizes that fits the EA82, the "official" one is Medium sized Purolator L-24457, then comes a larger one which is the Purolator L-20064, and the Shorter one, which is the Purolator L-10028; I've been using the last two ones without issues since many, many years ago, but I do preffer the smaller one for faster pumping on cold starts, plus a li'l gain in oil pressure... these engines doesn't need expensive oil filters, just good quality ones. See: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/136206-motor-oils-and-brands/?p=1145764 Kind Regards. ► Edited to add the web link.
  5. Sorry for the Thread Hijack... The LADM (Latin American Domestic Market) had the 1.5L EJ15 engined impreza in the very basic model: Manual transmission, no 4wd nor power windows nor power locks... while the 1.6L EJ16 engine came with the same basic impreza, but with Automatic transmission. Seems like the 2000 impreza from the original poster is 2WD automatic EJ16, like the LADM Specs imprezas, see: End of thread Hijack... Kind Regards.
  6. It depends on the Market, the very basic impreza came here with EJ15. Kind Regards.
  7. A little bit Vibration while the car is Stopped and Engaged in Gear (Automatic Transmission) somehow is Normal, but as he said: made me think that it is something that could Not be considered Normal.
  8. Sounds like something is Wrong with the ABS control unit. Have you tried to pull the ABS Fuse and check for said vibration?
  9. I've seen on internet, photos of pre 1990 Subarus from overseas, that says: "Loyale" instead of "Leone" on them... this is a Closer view of the Door, from that coupe:
  10. What do you think about this Subaru EA82 Turbo Coupe, that says "Loyale" on the Doors' trims?
  11. Seems like my Photobucket's account reached the Monthly bandwidth limit Try the Direct Links to see the Photos: http://s11.photobucket.com/user/JesZeK/media/Subaru/101_0359.jpg.html http://s11.photobucket.com/user/JesZeK/media/Subaru/101_0358.jpg.html
  12. Beside the RX versions, there were RS versions. Some RS were renamed as "Star Edition" by certain Subaru Dealers:
  13. Thank you for the Pictures. Did you know that there also existed a "Star Edition" on the 1980's decade? ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/5893-anyone-heard-of-star-edition-ea82-3-door-coupe/
  14. Welcome! Post photos of it, especially from the valves' covers; so we could help you in a Better way. The EA81 could came factory with Solid Lifters, or Hydraulic Lifters; with a Carter Carburator or with a Hitachi Carburetor, also Twin Hitachi Carburetors... Kind Regards.
  15. Well, after fourteen years and 221K kilometers ... ... that timing belt could be about to snap in no time, maybe already has jumped a couple of teeth! ... it happened to my Subie some years ago, the Timing belt was so old that had some missing teeth. I Kindly suggest you to check that Timing Belt / Replace Timing kit as soon as possible. Kind Regards.
  16. This is great advise: But if everything is alright (Timing, Plugs, Wires, no vacuum leaks) let me tell you that once I saw an EA82 doing the same: Popping thru the Carburator, and after checking timing & Wires, the culprit was the Carburetor itself... Somehow, I'm starting to think that your Weber might be inadequately assembled ... Kind Regards.
  17. This is my Vote: Because beside I like Yellow, the Dark Mustard Yellow without shine of the Old-School Landcruisers were very well fitted for an awesome & Serious offroading machine, like yours. Kind Regards.
  18. Somehow it is an "Trial and Error" exercise... The setup is pretty similar to the Third Gen Leone (EA82) In my case, what I did was to close the door without the door's card and lift the glass 'till it was in the proper position; Then retighten the screws at the two stops, and try to open - close the door with the glass full up. Repeat if necessary... Kind Regards.
  19. To fit a six cylinder engine on a Body designed for four cylinder EA engine is pretty Bad idea... I had a wagon with the 2.7L ER27 engine from the Subaru XT6, and beside that there isn't room enough for the Radiator, the added extra weight to the front, compromises seriously the handling and braking power... overall bad idea for sure. EJ swap is the better idea, or enjoy the underpowered EA82 with its great reliability. Yes, vacuum leaks... Check the vacuum accumulator bottle, which is located in the engine bay, behind the passenger's strut tower, under the windshield. Kind Regards.
  20. Those horns are Loud... Awesome! Can't wait to see this Beautiful FF1 moving with its own power, after all these years waiting! Good Luck! Kind Regards.
  21. Nope, it is the electronic part inside the Distributor, that substituted the traditional contact points... More info, here: (by the way, this writeup with photos could be helpful here) ~► Procedures to Test the Ignition Module on the Distributor. Kind Regards.
  22. In the Future, people will say that never existed a 2013 Subaru BRZ, because all were sold as 2014 models... Yes, I Knew it! ... 1984 EA82T Sedan ... Awesome! I'm Glad that it is on the Right Hands! About the distributor problems, very kindly let me ask you if you already tested the Fusible Links? ... My question could sound foolish, but if they gets corroded or loose contact, they could make that issue also. Kind Regards.
