That was a Special intake manifold done by Weber for the early EA Subaru engines, Kostamojen obtained it from Japan for his Subaru FF1 (Star) Restoration Project, but then, he sold the entire, unfinished project to Subie Gal, and she is about to finish the restoration of that Awesome Subaru. More Details, Here: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/77261-documented-the-1970-ff-1-project-car/ Kind Regards.

Thank you for your kind words about me, which are immensely appreciated; and No, I am not Gringo, (but many of my best friends are Gringos). You guessed it right: that I'm Catholic, and I've always thought that the best things in life are always free. I don't want money for my writeups, a simple "Thank You" (or hitting the ~► "Like" Button) is enough for me. This thread has not any updates during all the past year, because my Beloved Subaru "BumbleBeast" worked flawlessly all year long, it only needed its regular oil changes. About the Choke found on the Hitachi (Craptachi) carburator for the EA82's, it has "Electric" Choke, which means that there is a Resistor coil that opens the butterfly with heat, generated by a 12V input, and thus means it is automatic choke. Kind Regards & Blessings. ► Edit: the "Like" Word is an interesting Web Link about the Subject.

2" or 4" Lift - I need your input!

I found what I believe could be the best "Combo" for mixed driving: I use my Subaru "BumbleBeast" 60% on road as daily Driver on City Streets and Highways; and 40% offroading during weekends to "Mountain Adventure" trips with my family; so I found that the Best combo for that kind of usage, is a two (2") lift plus dropping the engine's crossmember to keep the axles as straight as possible; also I run it with 25" tires (205/60-R15) all terrains in order to keep well balance between power / Driving conditions \ fuel economy. Kind Regards. -
I run my '85 Subie with ceramic plugs on the headlamps, since the 1990's decade; the idea is that the Ceramic plugs will bear more efficiently the heat from the Bulb; so those ceramic plugs are usually installed instead the plastic ones, when you change your regular 65W Halogens, with 100W halogens, in order to prevent melting of such plug. Kind Regards.

I wonder they goes for OEM because the Radio Shack ones are intended for Stable volts / amperes of 12V current, found usually on appliances; while a car develops around 13.5V with fluctuating volts / amperes; so I bet that those Radio Shack's bulbs will not last much longer... While, in the other hand, Automotive bulbs usually has thicker filaments to bear with extra voltage / amperage, and automotive LEDs (usually) comes with a resistor welded in one of their contacts, to help stabilize the input current. Kind Regards.

Dear Thomas, I wonder why they are Questionable... I Drive my Wagon with them since Long years ago, without issues except a Harder ride, and two inches of lift gained; but they gave a much more sportier feeling and better handling loaded. In this thread you could read about the experience of another USMB's member with them: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/143010-nicks-94-loyale-build/?p=1203326 Also, here is the complete Writeup's link, if you want to consider such modification: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/106807-improved-shock-absorbers-and-spring-coils-on-loyales/ Kind Regards.

One thing that I've seen very often in the Carburated EA82's that I've fixed in Honduras, is that their Craptachi (hitachi) carburator's secondary stage, which is meant to be opened by a vacuum; doesn't work at all... usually due to vacuum issues; and that makes the EA82's even more gutless... and saves Gas! You can easily test if the Secondary is working, but if it is failing to open and you could not afford a Weber Carburator (Which simplifies a lot, while cleaning the engine bay removing lots of the vacuum hoses' spaghetti, plus gives more low end torque and loud boxer rumble noise at deep acceleration) you might consider to convert your actual craptachi carb to a "Mechanical Operated Secondary" more reliable version, by using pliers and a wire; I've done that many times to many Subarus; it works linking the primary to the secondary, so the secondary start to open until the primary reaches the first half, (Just like Webers) as you can see on this very short Video: About the Suspension mods, Here is the Link, full of info, photos & Details: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/106807-improved-shock-absorbers-and-spring-coils-on-loyales/ About the Weber Swap, here is the Link to a completely detailed Writeup, plenty of Photos: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/71510-ideas-on-swaping-a-weber-carb-on-ea82´s/ Remember, if your subie need to pass emmissions, the Weber carb could be a Problem. Kind Regards.
