  1. You're Welcome! My Subaru "BumbleBeast" also has a 15.9 Gal Gas Tank... or they robbed me at the Gas Station! Kind Regards.
  2. ... a Beater? ... I believe that Those Good Ol' GL's aren't Beaters if they're properly maintained and / or Modified. So, I Agree with Mr_Loyale. Except when the poor old car is in So Bad Shape... and still moves: it could be considered as "Beater" then. Kind Regards.
  3. My Dad used to own one 1972 Datsun 1600 like that, but it was Short Bed, with the L16 Engine. The Doors tend to open in Potholes... and the Single stage Master Cyl. on the Brake made it Quite Dangerous... So finally my dad Sold it in 1995. Kind Regards.
  4. About this: I've been pulled by Police officers a couple of times, because they wanna ask me: "How the Hell you fitted Those Nice Rims on that Old Subie" ... ... They had Old subies at home. I Tend to Drive like a Grandma, Mainly because two Reasons: First, People at my Caribbean Country tend to drive very Bad, so Going Slow helps me to Avoid a Hit; and second, I usually drive my Baby Daughter to her Kindergarden and Back... One interesting situation I've not shared with you yet, is that almost all the Kids on my Daughter's Kindergarden, believes that my Subaru "BumbleBeast" is a Transformer ... ... Kind Regards.
  5. Yes, I'm Lawyer ... ... This Jalopnik article, remembers me the time when SOA choosed a Photo of my Yellow Wagon for their Website's cover: ~► https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150736327136689&set=a.10150626738451689.383896.101616856688&type=3&permPage=1 Kind Regards.
  6. Once again, seems like I'm lost in Translation... ...Award to whom?
  7. Hey! ... ... What a Surprise! Many thanks to the Article's Author and to Nipper to post that Here; it is a Great unexpected Honor for Me, which has brighten my Day; This Honduran Subaru Nut Writes Awesome How-To Manuals I'm Really Thankful and that motivates me to Continue contributing with my Writeups ... ... Kind Regards.
  8. For Offroading (Mountain) with a heavy loaded Subaru Loyale, I kindly suggest you to see this Suspension Mods' Writeup: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/106807-improved-shock-absorbers-and-spring-coils-on-loyales/ Kind Regards.
  9. There are Some -few- of Us in USMB who did that Swap; mine lasted Ten Years, now is Wrecked; and I must say that I Really Agree with 86BratMan, to do the ER27 swap isn't good Idea, unless you build a "SubaruStein" like This: But since many people -like you- asked more info about the Swap, here I posted a Writeup on the Subject: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/122165-ea82-to-er27-swap/ Maybe you find it Useful. If that were my Choice, I'll fix the XT6 instead... Kind Regards.
  10. Really you want to Know about That? Well, it was during the year 1987, I was 12 years old; My mother wanted to fumigate the house because it had been invaded by cockroaches that came from a neighboring building under construction, so I took everything I could out, covered the rest, and we took all the necessary precautions; but we forgot to raise the Windows in the Good Ol' Mercury coupe that was in the garage. We left the House for all that day long, in my Subaru "BumbleBeast" (it was almost New and White then... ) Photos of my Mercury: ~► Here. We assume that cockroaches fled the house by the fumigation, and got into the Mercury ... The surprise we took up the next day, when Dad decided to take out the Mercury for a ride... You can't imagine the Disgusting experience it was, with bad words being yelled in the Garage... The Next step was to Fumigate the Mercury
  11. That Mice on the car problem is unseen here in my warm country... ...But we had a Cockroach problem once, in my '69 Mercury Coupe. Kind Regards.
  12. Pure Awesomeness! But Wait! ... it is a Subaru: it is expected that Perform Great, like that! Kind Regards.
  13. Yep, I believe it is another problem, usually related to Dry and / or Loose Belts; but if it only sound while you're going in Reverse, maybe the Mounting Screws are a Li'l loose... Kind Regards.
  14. I know those old GL's Power Steering pumps & System are designed to use ATF fluid, but if the leak is very tiny, I kindly suggest you to Flush all the ATF out from the System and replace with Fresh Power Steering Fluid with anti-leak (Seal Conditioners) Additives. That Lazy solution worked on my "BumbleBeast" and has more than a decade without Leaking a single drop. I believe It is worth trying that on yours... the Steering will become a Li'l Harder than with ATF; if that doesn't work, at least you'll have a clean system to work on changin' the seals. Kind Regards.
  15. We have the Subaru XV available here in the LADM (Latin American Domestic Market) since 2010. You can download a .pdf Brochure of it, Here: ~► http://www.mediafire.com/view/?tp7eyf37099lysl The LADM specs does include a Dual Range 5MT: More LADM Specs Subarus, ~► Here. Kind Regards.

  17. Thank you, now I Understand the "Pac Man" shape of the O-Rings when they fail ... ... I've been told by Local Friend mechanics, that the Thinner Oil makes my Subie's engine Noisy, because I have "Accostumed" it to the Thicker 20W~50, Others told me that thick oil somehow does Quilting the impact between metallic parts, in a better way than Thinner oils does. Kind Regards.
  18. It really looks Clean & Nice, 4WD Automatics are Good, you know the advantage of the Torque Converter, but the car could be a Li'l more Gas Thirsty... I believe it is a Very Good Car, specially being in that Shape, but How much it cost? Kind Regards.
  19. Welcome Back! ... I'll Sing up there just to see your Wonderful Subie in Action! Kind Regards.
  20. The Pac Man idea sounds funny but I Don't understand completely what you're trying to explain... Well, I believe that I forget to write some Background info of my EA82's History: As I wrote in my "BumbleBeast" Thread, I had to change Both Heads and Valves in 1995, also the Waterpump and the Old "Rubber-Only" Seals with the Newer "Metal Core" Seals back then, I did the Weber Swap in 2006 and a new Oil Pump in 2007, But everything else in the Engine is Stock. So, I don't believe that worn seals are acting as "Pac Man" ... isn't it? Maybe I'm lost in translation again... The fact is that a thinner oil than 20W~50 does make my EA82 Noisy... ... once per year I do an Engine Flush and I pour an "Hydraulic Lifters' Additive" to the Fresh oil. Kind Regards.
  21. About This: My Own experience about the Relation between the Tickin' Lifters and Oil Viscosity is Backwards ... ...please let me Explain: I Live in the Warm ~ Template Caribbean Climates of Honduras, so I Always Use SAE 20W~50 Motor Oil on my EA82 "BumbleBeast" since it was almost new, now the engine has 300,000 miles so far... it Still Runs Strong and Smooth as a Weberized and well maintained EA82 could achieve. It doesn't have the "Tick of Death" problem, but tends to be a Li'l "Noisy" on its Hydraulic Lifters (Not too Noisy as the T.O.D.) only when is first started on Cold Mornings of our Winter times... and when I let it Idle in the Morning for a While, but the noise Dissapears after I start Driving (when Oil Pressure increases), and it doesn't come back for the Rest of the Day. There's absolutely no Hydraulic Lifters' noise during our Summer morning starts nor in the rest of the Warm-to-Hot Climates months we have here. BUT if I pour 15W~40 Motor Oil on my "BumbleBeast" which I had to do a couple of times, the Same Hydraulic Lifters' noise not only increases a Little, but it Stays all day Long, despite the li'l increased oil pressure on the System, due to the thinner oil. The Question is: Why? ...and I believe that the Answer could be this: What do you Think about this? Kind Regards.
  22. You are forgetting the Molybdenum Disulphide, shortened as "MoS2" which is an Extremly Good Oil Additive, with Proven Positive Effects. The MoS2 is totally the opposite to Teflon, because instead of adding a Film "Layer" of sticking gunk, it does really work as Liquid Ball Bearings, also seems like "MoS2" is the Future of electronics, as you can read ~► Here. I've poured it in my Subaru "BumbleBeast" Weberized EA82 engine, and in my Wife's "KiaStein" T8D DOHC Engine. I've used for Many Years, Special Gearbox & Differential oils formulated with "MoS2" in 80W~90 from Motul, as you can see: I've used Motul Gearbox / diff oil with MoS2 (Molybdenum Disulphide) Since many years ago, Always with Great Results; believe me: it REALLY Smoothes any Manual Gearbox I've poured it in (and I've used it in many, many cars, from friends' to my family cars, and someone else's cars I've serviced), so beside the extended life for a Gearbox / diff, it also makes it Smoother, I mean Softer shiftings and reduced noise & heat. The Molybdenum Disulphide is Widely used in High Quality Constant Velocity Joints' Grease: The Correct Mix of Oil or Grease with MoS2, was patented by the German Lab "Liqui-Moly" as you can read: ~► Here, and its formula is used in Liqui-Moly / Lubro Moly Motul Products, widely known here, with great Reputation. Kind Regards.
