Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to the26incher's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
It was a factory option on Older models too: An EA82 with Wood Trim: Also, Newer Subarus has it... ...but those are Scarse. I Like your Red Subaru, it Looks Beautiful. Kind Regards. -

Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to the26incher's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Welcome! Yes, it was a Factory option; my wife has a co-worker who drives a Grey EA81 with wood trim... I've seen few EA82's with that but I don't know if that was a factory option for those too. Kind Regards. -

The Reservoir on my Subaru "BumbleBeast" Power Steering, is made of a metal which looks like stainless steel... I don't know but I just peeled the paint off from it over a decade ago and it still Shines and doesn't rust. Maybe you'll like to do the same? Kind Regards.

2002 Impreza, lifted with 3.3 SVX swap

Fuel gauge stopped working, sorta.
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Dj7291993's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If you removed the Front plastic screen from the instrument cluster and Moved the Needle up, it will do something similar to your description... I already answered this question in the other thread about the instrument Cluster, but basically talking, the solution is to place the needle back again to the place it was pointing before removing the Cluster, when you place it again back in the car. Kind Regards. -

Incandescent (standard) Bulbs on the Left and LED Bulbs on the Right... Yes, that Shows the Difference very well; thank you for sharing your photo, please keep us updated with any progress you made. The turn signals doesn't have green tint? ... interesting! My untinted cluster has green tint on the Turn Signals. Also, the Gasoline Gauge stays in the same place, no matter if there is imput or it is out from the car... so I don't believe it is Wrong; I kindly suggest you to let it stay where it was prior the cluster removal. Did you use Green LEDs or White LEDs? Kind Regards.

water pump shot, what about timing belts?
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to danzick's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well, I found interesting that Nobody has suggested that the 90º Degrees 5/8" Hose in the Top of the Water Pump, could be the Culprit; and those fail more often than Water Pumps, also a Water pump Fail usually doesn't develop such a small leakage that let you drive with it for so many miles... So, I Kindly suggest you to Start by Looking There, and let us Know how do you find that 5/8" hose. Good Luck! Kind Regards. -
help with new weber on ea71
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to dickdirty's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Have you already Tried to clean the excess of carbon deposits with Seafoam? I Bet it gonna be the Solution. Kind Regards. -
Very Kindly let me Share my Own experience: While is Good Idea to made Hubs in a more Commercial Lug Pattern than the Scarse 4X140 that older subarus Have, 4X100 isn't Good Idea, because the Hub center is Fat and there will be Issues like to cut it and other problems to find Rims which could fit there properly centered... Beside my Subies, I've done many Hub conversions in the Past for other Local Subaru Owners, but Not to 4X100, I done them to 4X114.3 which is Very Popular, like 4X100, and 4X114.3 (Also known as 4X113 or 4X114) is the Pattern for older corollas, Datsuns, Hondas, etc... there are Plenty of Aftermarket Rims for that pattern. This Photo belongs to my Lifted Subaru "BumbleBeast" EA82 wagon Rear Disc Brakes' Hubs, Here you can see How I Redrilled and Changed the Lug Pattern from 4X140 to 4X114.3: Now it Runs on Aftermarket 15" Rims, you can see Photos on the Link at my Signature. So, I Kindly Suggest you to use 4X114.3 instead of 4X100 to avoid more, unnecesary problems to solve. Have you seen the "Universal" Four Lug Rims? ... those have four holes at 4X100 and four Holes at 4X114.3. Kind Regards.

Those are Really Beautiful Subaru Brochure Scans, Thank you for Sharing. Kind Regards. -
To do the Hood Scoop, I used New Sheet Metal, cutted it to Form the Shape I Wanted and I Welded it to the Subie's Hood... the Original Idea was to Let the Weber Carb to Scream out Loudly the Old-School Boxer Rumble thru that Hood Scoop, using it as a Megaphone ... ... I Named it, the "InterFooler" Thank you! Well... You saw the very First Version 1 of the Custom Grille I made for my "BumbleBeast" which has Vertical Grooves, as you can see it on the Weber Carb Runnin' Video I posted few posts ago. This is a Newer Version 2 Grille with Horizontal Grooves, which does Match the Hood Scoop's Design I Made. I Have Not uploaded Photos of it on the Car, yet... so wait a little and I'll upload some, soon. The Hood Scoop has Been in all the "BumbleBeast" Photos on this Thread since the very beginning, because it has been Part of the Transformation of my Former White Weberized Wagon onto the "BumbleBeast" ... seems like nobody Noticed the Hood Scoop earlier, but the Pictures are Still available for viewing since Post Nº 1 Kind Regards.

Beautiful Subaru you Have, and Welcome to USMB! I'll Like to see Photos of the Engine Bay to be Sure about its Engine, but if it Really is the 1.6L it should be the EA71 engine. Kind Regards.

Regarding the Feedback Hitachi Carburetors I wrote a Complete Writeup about the Weber Carburetor retrofitting on the Subaru EA82 engines, (a Huge part of the information also is applicable to the EA81 engines); it is located ~► Here; however, not all the persons want to remove their old Hitachi Carburetor and retrofit a Weber Carburetor on these good ol' Subaru engines; so here is an easy Repair guide for those Hitachi Carburetors, plenty of pictures: ~► Hitachi 2 Barrel Carburetors Visual Repair Guide Also, I know how to Tweak a little the Hitachi Carburetors to gain reliability and improved acceleration when their vacuum operated secondary -high- stage fails; I wrote a small Writeup regarding the Subject, and it is Here: ~► Mechanical Conversion on Hitachi Carburetors Kind Regards.
