Kia Sephia Sporty
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Loyale 2.7 Turbo's topic in Non Soob Cars and Bikes Discussion
I Know that for the USDM and other Markets, there was No Third Gen Kia Sephia, (the car was named: "Spectra") but the Sephia name continued in the Market for Latin America. The first Spectras came here Still named as Sephia: Then came the "Sephia II": Still the 1.6L engine was the "Standard" while the 1.8L was "Optional". -

The Second Gen Kia Sephia, introduced in 1997, was still based on the Ford Escort / Mazda 323 of its era. Here you can see my Wife's "KiaStein" which is a Second Gen Sephia: And here you can see the "KiaStein" Parked behind a 1997 Mazda 323 / Protegé that has almost the same Body design than the Sephia, even the Mirrors, the Rear door's li'l triangle, etc... Certain parts are interchangeable: It came with the New T8D engine, which originally was developed for the Kia Elan: See the Wikipedia info Below: Read ~► Here. But for the Latin American Markets, the 1.8L T8D engine was Optional, the Second Gen Sephia came "Standard" with a 1.6L engine. -

Well... The LADM (Latin American Domestic Market) Receives different Kias than the USDM, also some are the same models but with diferent engine options. In example, After the Kia 303 (a Mazda 808 made by Kia) They imported here the Kia Capital. When the Capital was discontinued, Kia imported here the First Gen Kia Sephia, in 1992, which was somehow Based on the Mazda 323 / Ford Escort of that era. The First Gen Kia Sephia Looks like this one: the Sephia Leo (Hatchback): I remember I Saw a convertible Version of the First gen Sephia in a Magazine, and I searched for it on the Net 'till I found some pictures, which I want to share here, look carefully: It looks more Ford Escort Alike, specially its rear Lights and metal sheet design: 1995 Kia Sephia Cabrio (Magazine Scan): A couple of Photos from a 1995 Auto Show of The Kia Sephia Cabrio: Does Look more Ford Escort alike, isn't it? -
Suspension improvements for Subaru Loyale
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Loyale 2.7 Turbo's topic in Suspension
I've received some Questions about that Suspension Mods I've done, via PM; I'll post here the most common Questions along the Answers, in order to Help more people who wants to do these Mods. Well, the Rear suspension, using the Toyota 4Runner Shocks PLUS the Honda Coils, will be Lifted (a little less than) Two inches (2") but if you use the 4Runner Shocks along with the Stock Subaru Coils, it will be almost no Lift at all on 4WD Subies. (Remember: 2WD Subies has a 2" Lower base for the Coil Springs on the Shock Absorbers, as explained in the Writeup) Please don't forget that the 4Runner Shocks only have 4" of total Travel, while the Subaru Shocks has 6" ... BUT the Coils Won't let them go much Down, specially with the Honda Coils. The added +/- 2" inches will Stress the Rear Axles to their Maximum, if you want to Do the 4Runner Shocks plus Honda Coils on a 4WD Subie, Without stressing the Angles, you must consider to Drop the Rear Differential a Little. Kind Regards. -

Well... the Strut assembly comes with a Shock absorber and a Coil Spring, either the Front and the Rear ones. I was Writing about the Coil Spring on that assembly. You can see the Rear one which is a Mix of the Toyota Shock absorber plus the Honda Coil Spring, on my 1985 Subaru "BumbleBeast" EA82 Wagon, in the Following Photo: The Toyota's Coil Spring is too Stiff for the Subaru's Rear, the Subaru ones are OK but Weak for my Rude / off road \ loaded use of my Wagon, so the Honda ones were Perfect for me, those aren't too Stiff, nor too Weak. Look for Part Number on my Writeup's Link Above. Kind Regards. -
Welcome! ... ... You can find a Complete Writeup full of Pictures about the Weber carb Swap onto the EA82 engine, in the Followin' Link: ~► Here. I Believe your subaru is EA82 by reading your description. (For more useful info, writeups & Files, click on my Avatar.) Kind Regards.

Words of Wisdom! ... ...I Agree. -
For those who use the Subaru Loyale (EA82) in a Rude way, either with heavy weights or offroadind too often, I wrote a Writeup years ago, with some Ideas to improve the Suspension on those Old Gen Subies, using parts from other car brands that fits easily on the Subaru Loyale. The Writeup is ~► Here. Since it is on the USRM you cannot reply there, but feel free to comment here, share your experiences and add your own ideas, etc... I Hope that you'll find my writeup, Helpful. Kind Regards.

Yes, I Did that Writeup years ago... it is: ~► Here. It includes front & Rear suspension ideas... mainly for rude use / offroading. I Hope that will be Useful. Kind Regards.

The Li'l Red Kia is "Picanto" ... Honduras has a Great Market for Kei Cars (Less than 3 Meters) and the Kia Picanto is one of the Market Leaders, with in-line 4 Cyl. 1L Gasoline and 1.1L Diesel engines; along the Chevrolet Spark (Which is a Korean made Chevrolet, former Daewoo) also many other brands sells mini cars here. Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Loyale 2.7 Turbo's topic in Non Soob Cars and Bikes Discussion
I try to avoid controversial subjects on this forum, but let me explain the two reasons I have to Not install an H.I.D. retrofit Kit on my Wife's "Kiastein" ► The first reason is related to the Headlamps transparency on my Wife's "Kiastein" : Since they're made by Policarbonate plastic, they has the Yellow Stain tint & blur... well, the car came like that from the USA, I'm sure that the Previous owner never cared of the Headlamps. But both Headlamps were cracked on their sustaining arms, the passenger's side one was the worse, so I already changed that Headlamp on the Kiastein with a Junk Yard replacement, which was a Chinese Replacement! ... not a Kia original headlamp but you won't notice the diference. I fixed the broken arm on the other side's Headlamp with an oversized washer and is working good since that, a couple of years ago... Here is a Pic about that, maybe that simple idea could help other kia owners: But the Replacement lamp has the same yellowish blur too... I Tried to Polish them both using great quality products such as "Turtle Wax" Polishment, without great results. So until I could afford a couple of brand new transparent headlamps, I'll avoid that retrofit on the Kiastein, because the yellowish Blur on the transparency of the Headlamps' Lens, could lead to a dangerous Glare for the incoming driver. My Subaru Wagon is a Very different Story: It has Thick Glass Headlamps, one of those even received the Direct front impact of a Kia Sportage once, in a medium speed collision. The Glass survived absolutely intact, but the Metal behind it, which is part to the Subie's Body, was Bent. Pictures ~► Here. My Subaru Wagon has almost four years with an amazing 55 Watts Bi-Xenon (Low / High Beams) of 5000K (White-Yellowish colour) without any issue, and I drive it by Night very Much; its Bi-Xenon's Razor edge Low Beam plus the crystal clear headlamps ensure it is absolutely No dangerous glare for the incoming driver's eyes. That was my First reason: the Yellowish blur on my Wife's Kiastein HeadLamps. ► The Second Reason is, the Lack of Money: Someday, if I win the Lotto ... ... I'll purchase a couple of Brand New HeadLamps and a 5000K Bi-Xenon retrofit kit for the Kiastein ... ... Kind Regards. -

Today I Drove a Local Subaru Forester 2009, with the 2.5L engine, Disc brakes all around and... Yes: Dual Range! It was Sold by the Local (Honduran) Subaru Dealer, so it is LADM (Latin American Domestic Market) Specs. It Belongs to a Friend's Father. I was able to take a few Pictures (using my Cellphone). Even my friend took one picture of me, with my Finger pointing to the Dual Range Lever ... ... Here are the Pictures:

I came across this LADM (Latin American Domestic Market) Subaru Legacy. It has a Factory Carb & Disty EJ18 Engine, but this one also has a Turbo! The Owner, who Lives in Argentina; Restored it. He Started by Removing the Engine for a Complete Reseal: I Really Like how that Engine Looks: Then, he Prepared & Painted the Body: Finally, Reinstalled the Renewed Engine: And here is the Final Look: More info, ~► Here. The Early Legacy that you can see in the first posts of this thread, came factory with a Carburated EJ engine with distribuitor and Dual Range trans, if you look at the early posts of this thread, you'll see it, next to my Yellow Wagon. The Latin American and Rest of the World Markets has many other Subies that are no longer imported to the USA, like the (New) Subaru Sambar (Micro Pick up & Micro Bus): Or Subies that never were available in USA, Like the R2... ...or the Subaru Traviq: The new Subaru Sambar Micro Trucks are Still Subarus... ...But the Subaru Dias Wagon is a... Rebadged Daihatsu! Another Rebadged Model is the Daihatsu Sirion as... Subaru Justy!
