  1. Yes... seems like the Chassis on those old Subies isn't passing a Good ground signal for electrical Devices... But let me Ask, which Ground did you used for the Relay?
  2. Well, lets see: if the Relay Clicks, it -usually- means that its internal switch is Working on bypassing Power (+) from Spade Nº 30 to Spade Nº 87. So, if your horns aren't working, one cause could be their Ground, as you wrote; but another cause could be that you Didn't connect 'em both to the Spade Nº 87 on the Relay, or the Fusible to the Spade Nº 30, is Blown. Good Luck!
  3. Thank you for Sharing such Great Photos!!! I Really wish I could go to one of those Awesome Subaru Meetings... Kind Regards.
  4. You have it Backwards, the Spade Nº 30 is the IMPUT for the Relay, so the Fused line shall go to it, while the Spade Nº 87 is the OUTPUT from the Relay to the Device (Horns). Have you seen this? ~► Here. I Hope it will be Useful for you. Kind regards.
  5. Well... I'm glad to know that my Idea will Help you to do that Easier. Yes, me too. Maybe for another model or maybe I'm wrong... so, Could you post that part of the Chilton's Manual, here? Kind Regards.
  6. Very Kindly, Let me tell you two things about that: You can remove the Head Lamps to gain access to the Horns too, four nuts each one and Voilá! Subaru doesn't use a Relay for Horns... so The new ones doesn't sound as Loud as they could Be. I Learned that in 1996, when I Changed the Stock horns on my Subaru "BumbleBeast" with a Pair of Bosch ones. Good Luck! Kind Regards.
  7. I Agree, Absolutely. You might find some helpful ideas in this writeup: ~► Here. Kind Regards.
  8. Well... Back to Topic, I have to Correct myself, I made a Mistake about the Different Generations of the T8D engine: Usually is Known that the First Gen T8D engine came on the 1998 ~ 2001 Kia Sephia, and the Second Gen T8D engine came on the 2002 ~ 2004 Kia Spectra. Also I posted that here. Those T8D are almost Identical engines, but they has certain Differences. The Spectra engine has one Hp Less than the Sephia engine, but it has eleven more ft lb Torque. But the Spectra Engine is Built with Better Quality Materials and also has some Design improvements. As far as I Know, the Spectra engine has better Design for the flow of Oil & Coolant and is built with Better Materials, plus the Head is Ported to its Maximum, and other design advantages, In example: the PCV Valve on the Sephia is plastic and came mounted on a Rubber O-Ring to the Head's Cover; while the PCV Valve on the Spectra is Metallic, threaded and directly screwed to the Head's cover. But here comes the Correction: The second gen Sephia (1998 ~ 2001) came with the Second Gen already, of the T8D Engine; not the First gen; so the Spectra (2002 ~ 2004) got the Third Gen of the T8D engine. When Kia Purchased the Lotus Elan Design License, They Built the Kia Elan and they Developed the 1.8L T8D Engine for it, as a Huge Upgrade over the Isuzu 1.6L Engine that Lotus used on the Elan. So, the T8D engine was not engineered for the Kia Sephia, the First Gen T8D engine was used two years Before, on the Kia Elan (1996 ~ 1999). Its a Fact. Period. See the Wikipedia info Below: Read ~►Here. This is an Old Magazine Scan, Please note that the Engine used on the Kia Elan... ...is the Real First Gen of the T8D engine. And Yes, is a Non-Interference Engine ... ... Like the EA82. Kind Regards.
  9. Well... I'm pretty Sure that the Cab-Forward trucks that goes to the USA Market, are the Medium and Big sized Trucks. The one in the Above Picture, is a Small Sized Truck: About same Size of a Loyale Wagon, I Understand that is Hard to see it in a Photo whith the Car alone and no other car aside for comparison, also I understand that you wrote that it has: Because those Bigger trucks has also Four Wheels in the Back and two in the Front, but the Difference is that those Korean Small trucks (Kia, Hyundai Samsung and Asia Brands) on our Market has Different Rim Sizes between the Front and the Rear Axle, as I wrote: This is the only Pic I could obtain of one of those (Samsung) Trucks on the Street: Those usually comes in Single Cab, Cab and a Half, Double Cab and Bus Shapes. But also in other "Special" configurations, like Tow Trucks, ambulances, Dump trucks, etc... Those usually comes with a Strong in-line 4 cyl.2.7L Diesel engines, and are about the Size of a Loyale Wagon. And seems like they're capable of run on two wheels too! : Latin America and specially my Li'l country, has a Huge Market for those Small Trucks But also is a Huge market for the Mini Trucks (Less than 3 Meters, like the Subaru Sambar) you can see Many of Chevrolet (Daewoo), Suzuki, and Chinese Trucks & Micro Buses, even some of them Looks like Micro BMW's ... Like This: Those are Front engined, in-line 4 Cyl. with 1.0L displacement, 5 Speed Manual trans and Solid Axle in the Rear (RWD) with Coil springs in the Front and Leaf Springs in the Rear: Even with A/C and Power Steering, those Mini Trucks & Buses Seems to be Built to Last Many Years of Rude use. Subaru built a Series of Small pick ups with in-line 4 Cyl. engines (The Rare Subaru EN80 Engine) to compete with those Chinese ones, but Subaru cost twice than any Chinese equivalent, and Sadly, has the Worst Dealer in the World (in my Country), so No New Subaru mini truck or Mini Bus has been sold here in Years. Kind Regards.
  10. Awesome! I Watched your video on a large widescreen via a game console XBox 360, and I was stunned, your Subercoupe is truly impressive, very well done and the rear engine is a very clean installation. I Believe that this Thread should be Moved to the "Members Rides" Section. Best regards and congratulations.
  11. The past Weekend, I Changed the Old Engine Oil on my Subaru "BumbleBeast" First I Poured a can of Engine Flush to the Old oil and let the engine Idle fifteen Minutes, 'till it reached its Normal operating temperature. Then Flushed it out, replaced the Old Oil Filter with a fresh one, and Poured Fresh "Motul" 20W~50 SAE SM Oil... and added a Can of Hydraulic Lifters' additive. (More info on Oils, ~► Here) Kind Regards.
  12. Do you Remember the Special EA81 RX coupe with Factory Twin Weber Carbs and dual port Heads, that Subaru used to Run in the Safari Rally, in the Early 1980's decade? Some of them were Left by Subaru in New Zealand then... But Now one of those Twin Weber Safari Rally Coupe, that never was used in the Race, has sowed up for Sale! The price is Not in US Dollars, I believe it is in the New Zealand currency. Kind Regards.
  13. Same here, The Ford Tempo Coil Spring has a Half inch (1/2") smaller diameter than the Subaru ones, but that is not a problem. I Drive my Subaru "BumbleBeast" with them since Long time ago and they doesn't "Shift" nor make any noise. Kind Regards.
  14. Also, this Writeup Might Help: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=74206 Kind Regards.
  15. Your XT6 Looks Absolutely Beautiful! What I've done to my Subie... Lately? Well, I had to Modify the Center Console, which Now Looks like This: More Info, ~► Here. Kind Regards.
  16. Thank you for the Kind answer! Kia also does build Huge Trucks, Jeeps & Military Vehicles: More info, ~► Here. Kia has prescence here since the Seventies (1970's) Decade somehow, with the KiaMaster and the Kia 303 which was the Kia Version of the Mazda 808, as you can read, ~► Here. Also here in Latin america the Laws that rule the Cars' markets are more simple and are based mainly in safety standards, such like if your car's Brakes & Lights are Working fine and the engine doesn't smoke... Our authorities usually doesn't care if you build your own car of pieces as Long as everything works fine and has seatbelts. Maybe that is the Reason why Kia is so Abundant here. Our Local Kia dealer does import here Lots of Kia Diesel cab-forward Trucks, Big, Medium and Small sized Trucks. The Small sized trucks are Weird Because they use six lugs 15" Rims in the Front and six lugs 13" Twins in the Rear, to maintain the Bed's Height not too tall. Like This: The White toyota in the photo isn't the Prado, it doesn't have its characteristic grille with vertical openings; so it must be the Toyota Fortuner. ~► http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:FortunerKUN60GTRDSportivo.jpg Kind Regards.
  17. I see everyday, age old Kias still Running Strong in my Country. Even old "Kiamaster" Pick Ups (a Rebadge from the Mazda B 1600 / Ford Courier) I Wonder if those were available in USA?
  18. Thank you for the Kind Answer! I Believe it is a Really Good Idea to have automatic electric fans there, also the Plexi Glass... so you already controled the situation. I was thinking about to install there some heat & Noise isolating barrier, Like this ~► http://www.soundproofingamerica.com/ECHOLESS-ROLL-MAT.pdf Because I used a very similar product in a VolksWagen Bus, long years ago, with great results. I Really Like your Nice & Powerful coupe, almost can't wait to see it on a Video. Kind Regards.
  19. Yes, it Does Look very Beautiful, Good Job! I almost can't wait to see the Final results. Also I Like the Mahindra Pick up in the Back, we have many of those in my Country... the "Scorpio" Diesel is pretty Popular. Could I Ask if you plan to use the Steel 4X140 subaru Rims, or do you plan to put a set of alloy 4X140 rims? Kind Regards.
  20. I'm Sure that the Off-Roading crowd will want to do this Rear e-Brake Retrofit that I've done, while Keeping the Front e-Brake; both with independent Levers, side by side, next to each other Without the center console ... ... as a Great Slipping Control during 4X4 action. ► Edit: Some USMB Members already has done it, sucessfully! ► Update (added August 2016): Much more than four Years of daily driving had already passed since I finished this Retrofitting, and my BumbleBeast Drives & Feels Natural, with a Good working Rear e-Brake. My Experience: This Swap is Easier than it looks like, and the Results are Awesome; the New Rear e-Brake from Honda is More than enough for the Subaru; it only needs less than Half lever up to Hold Strong the Car, and also at half lever it has enough clamping force to Stop it! Is a Strong Rear e-Brake... not like the Average one found on common Rear Disc Brakes. I Hope This Write-up will be Helpful, If you like it, let me know by hitting the "Like" Button. Kind Regards.
  21. I had that Electrical Gremlins on my "BumbleBeast" subaru A/C long time ago, I Solved it: The problem is the Relays, there are Three. To find my Writeup about the Relays and how to Swap the Old round ones with Bosch standard ones, just click on my Avatar to reach my Public profile, then scroll down on my List of Writeups, to find the one about the Relays, it is plenty of Pictures and Diagrams. Good Luck! Kind regards.
  22. Awesome! ... I really love to see Pics of that wonderful Subie. Very kindly let me ask you this questions about the engine inside the Cabin: ► How hot will become the Cabin during Normal Driving? ► Does it blows odors / fumes to the Cabin? ► Do you plan to isolate the Engine's heat & gasses? I ask because it Could be Dangerous to Drive with the Windows up (in example during Rainstorms). All those issues could be solved, also I know it is not built to be a daily driver; but I am curious about the Overall car Behaviour and I have some ideas that could Help you to solve the above listed situations. Kind Regards.
  23. Some missing information: Does the A/C blows cool air while it Works hard, or it isn't working at all? By reading your description, I believe that the problem is Not the A/C Clutch, (it only engages or disengages and it is doing its job) I believe the compressor might have a worn or stuck ball bearing, and / or it could be somehow "Too Hard" to spin, in example: Low Oil on the R12 gas Mixture. Usually people Swap the Compressor... with another used one from a Junk Yard that if works, it will fail soon due to the same reasons that the old compressor had: Age / Rust \ usage. I Kindly suggest you to take your subie to a certified A/C Technician, in order to check the compressor's behaviour, usually those technicians could rebuild the Compressor with new internals if it needs it, or change the Old Oil / Gas Mixture on the System to let the compressor spin softer. Good Luck! Kind regards.
  24. As he said: ... if the Bulbs lit whenever the Highbeams flasher is Pulled, the Bulbs must be alright. So, beside the Relays (More info ~► Here.) The Main Lights' Switch should be the Culprit. I Kindly suggest to start checkin' there. Kind Regards.
