I think that are Key Words: Maybe the Loose wire(s) are the ones on the Battery Terminal. I Kindly Suggest you to Check 'em First. Kind Regards. -
Beautiful... Really Nice! I've seen some 1300 DL's here, but in the Newer Shape (Loyales) They have only four Speed trans and the EA65 engine.

I Really Believe that... ...is Normal when the Key is on the "ON" Position and isn't related to the problem at all. The problem is that when you Turn the Key to "START" Position it doesn't do anything... untill Some Tries, isn't it? If so, there are some areas to Consider: Worn Starter Switch Loose Contacts or wires on the Starter Switch Loose wiring to the Starter and the starter internals, as I said on my another post above. but also it could have a Loose / Rusted \ worn Fusible links... I Kindly suggest you to Check there, I hope by Doin' that you'll find the Source of the Problem Kind Regards. -
All the GL / Loyale Wagons I've seen has the electronic release with a push button on the Dashboard, just in front of the Turn signals' stick; even my old 1985 BumbleBeast has it There. But that only release the Lock itself and doesn't move the Opening Handle, which I Believe is that what do you want, to move the Hatch up. To do so, you'll need to remove the Hatch's door Plastic back and Look at the opening Mechanism on the Door, Maybe you can put / weld another metal piece to the opening Handle or directly to the release mechanism, to open it from the interior; but that means to open a Hole on the Plastic Back cover to Slide your hand there. Kind Regards.

That is Good advice, because the issue sounds to me more like the Starter itself is the Culprit. Have you serviced the Starter... yet? You can either change its worn internals or swap another one and Try. Good Luck, Kind Regards. -

That Really Sucks! ... I Hope he will Find it, soon... I Always do that, plus I Place a "Club" Locking Bar in the Steerin' Wheel, everytime I Park any of my Cars (all of them has those Club Bars) also, with the Wheels turned. http://www.amazon.com/Original-Club-Steering-Wheel-Lock/dp/B0000CBILL Kind Regards. -

Cracked head story
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to mickytrus's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Certain cracks between Valves on the First Gen and second Gen EA82's Heads could be considered as "Cosmetic" issue, if those doesn't went far enough to reach the passages. The EA82 engine has thee Gens of Heads, you can read more about that, ~► Here. Kind Regards. -
Adequate spark voltage.
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to majesticsubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
On the Time I Started to have issues on my EA82's Hitachi Carb, it was somewhere around 220,000 of Rude Driving, 60% offroad on our Hard Honduran Roads; but there was another fact that ruined my Subie's original Carb then: Someone poured some Mothballs on an almost empty Gas tank... The other two Subarus that I've fixed with worn hitachi carburetors, where over or al least around 300,000 Miles, one of Those ran with a Brand New Hitachi Carburetor for a Nissan Sentra (Same Base Measurements but it has a "Power Valve" inside); the other one went thru many Carb rebuilds (Just like me) untill I took that carb out and slapped there a used 32/36 Weber. Sorry for Hijack the Thread... but I Still believe that the Carb on that Subie isn't working Properly. Kind Regards. -

Is the one that goes to the Heather core Pipes, from the Waterpump's top. Is hard to see without removing the A/C compressor. Kind Regards. -

After Reading that Story, Let me tell you that it is somehow Familiar, because I've Fixed a couple of EA82's (Beside Mine's) with Same Symptoms. In my Li'l caribbean country, Unleaded Gasoline were available up to 1994, so its First Nine years, my EA82 Subie ran with Leaded Gasoline, which Clogged the Cathalytic Converters, the one on the "Y" Pipe and the one on the Middle of the Exhaust Pipes. So, those Subies blowed a Exhaust smoke that had certain rare odor and irritates the Eyes... The Symptoms you describe, leads me to Think about Two Posibilities: Clogged Exhaust. Dying Carburetor. I Already readed this: Let me Tell you that Those Hitachi carburetors becomes a True Nightmare when they are Old... in example, whe my EA82's carburetor failed, I went throught Three Rebuild Kits on Three Different times: The First one I Tried myself with No Luck, the Second time I took the Carb to a "Professional" on a Modest Garage and Still No Luck; the Third Time I Took the Carb to a more Expensive Subaru Garage and they failed too... Then that people Started to point things such like the timing or the ignition to be the culprit... I swapped a Weber Carb years ago and all that problems went away. So, I believe that the culprit on your subie is a mix of Clogged Exhaust and Dying Carb... I Kindly suggest you to Check the Exhaust and then you can try with other Carburetor. Kind Regards. -
trading 92 subaru wagon for 83 sedan
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to lilredjusty88's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I Believe that the Whole situation depends on What you Need for Transportation... If you Carry a Lot of Things, Stay with the Wagon. I you only want Transportation for You, you can Get the Older one if you Really Preffer it. Why don't you Keep the Wagon and buy the Older one... Too Expensive? I Preffer Wagons due to their Extended Capabilities to Haul Things & People easily, even on Long Travels. There are other Factors to Consider: Rust, if the Older one is Bone Stock or has any Modifications or Extras... If your Wagon has certain issues or things that you Dislike... Do you have Pics of Both? Kind Regards. -

Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to l75eya's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
There's a 90º Elbow hose with 5/8" diameter, that is usually the Culprit for coolant Leaks on that Area. Anyhow, I Kindly Suggest you to Replace it (and its hose Clamps) along the Waterpump you want to replace. Kind Regards. -

The electric fan on the Dual Fans Setup, not only comes on with the A/C, it also works as an Auxiliary fan and comes on when the Thermo Switch on the Radiator sends the Signal. I Kindly suggest you to Click on my Avatar, you'll reach a List of my Writeups and the First one there is all about those Coolin' fans and some easy solutions to Upgrade the Coolin' System. Subaru 360 series
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to willsmith's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Welcome! I Believe that a Good Quality, two cicle Oil will work fine There, just keep in mind the Proper SAE Grade and do the Mixture as it should be. Does your Subaru 360 came with the "SubaruMatic" System? If so, you must check The Followin' Picture: it includes the Lubrication Diagram on Those. Do you have Pictures of your 360? Kind Regards. -
Weber swap getting no fuel
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Mykeys Toy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'm not completely sure on that specific Subaru Model, but I believe that you can put a Temporary Direct Ground line to the electric Fuel pump, taken from nearby on the Car's Body, just to see if by doing that, the Fuel Pump will work fine. If so, the Ground line that comes on the Original wiring is the Culprit. If it still doesn't work and Both lines are Alive (Positive and Negative) Then, your Subie's Fuel pump could be Bad; if so, you can try another one there. Kind Regards. -

Timing Belts = EA82. Maybe the Sparkplug Wires are Worn and doesn't transmit all the Power. Have you Checked those Wires, are they Old? Kind Regards. -
