How old is too old for gas?
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to The FNG's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Me Neither, Thanks for the info. Well... about the problem with your Subie's engine, Does it boggs down a Little even after Driving it? I Was thinking about a fail on the "Choke" that those SPFi systems has, but I'm not sure on the name... is it "Choke"? Kind Regards. -
Thank you for your Kind Words... My 2.7 wagon was awesome but somehow a never-ending project; the Idea to have an XT6 wagon was nice but the Lack of enough Space to fit the 2.7 plus Radiator there, made us (My dad & I) to be Creatives, and also we Learned a Lot with that 2.7 Project. But Now seems like Someone is Trying to do the same XT6 Wagon project but taken to the Next Level: Swapping all the Complete Front end from the XT6: By that way, the ER27 engine will fit Great but the Builder should be Very careful to reinforce both Structures where they meet. I Believe that the finished product with uniform paint should Look Nicer, but somehow it looks like the Honda Accord hatchback (AeroDeck) from that same era: Again, thank you for your Kind Words... Kind Regards.

Yes, we are very close to El Salvador. I Drove my BumbleBeast wagon to "El Cuco" Beach in El Salvador, (also across many other cities there) during the Holy Week Vacation on march 1993; I Liked that beach ... I remember that mistakenly my BumbleBeast almost got stuck on the sand there ... Well, I was 17 years old then and I drove too far on the dark sands (Due to Volcanoes) near to the ocean's waves of the Pacific ocean... Honduran beaches are very different, because Honduras is the only country in central america Without Volcanoes, and unlike the El Salvador, Honduras has coasts also on the Caribbean sea too, and our sandy beaches has white sand and clear waters. That is a Great Idea, maybe he can bring me the parts to his Country and I can drive there in a weekend to pick the parts... we're near. The only problem for me right now is the Lack of enough Money to purchase a Good working EJ engine + ECU & Wirin' harness and an adaptor plate... or maybe including its EJ transmission to avoid using an adaptor plate. So my 2.7 Wagon will remain unengined as the "Garage Queen" in my HomeTown for some time. I Already took certain parts from the 2.7 to improve my EA82 Bumblebeast, the idea is if I could Have only one Running subaru, lets make a Better one from the Two; so my EA82 BumbleBeast got the Ford Tempo and Honda Accord Spring coils, the dual beam H.I.D.'s with 5000K "Natural Colour" (No blueish colour) etc... So, I Really Thank you so much Bigjimd for your Kind offer, but for now I can not afford the cost of purchase and bringing here all the needed parts. I'll let you know ASAP any news on the subject. Kind Regards.

So sorry for the Yellow font I used to type, that worked with the Dark Grey Background the USMB website used to have for a while, as you can see here: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/128332-history-of-usmb/?p=1090011 I Wrote a Full Explanation about Why I Change the Text Colour & Size, Here: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/124339-prefer-the-brighter-web-page/?p=1052563 But I've been (Slowly, as I have not enough free time) Fixing every and Each of my most Important Posts, changin' the yellow text colour to a deep Blue and bigger font size, so you can read my posts easily. Thank you for your patience, Kind Regards.

Rear speaker size in an '87 GL coupe
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Dj7291993's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'm not sure about the Location of Speakers on Coupes... Have you removed the Panels to search? The reason is the Shared Ground between Left & Right Speakers that subaru did... That oddity works on older (Transistors output) Stereo cassettes, but a shared ground makes all the New Stereos (with Digital circuitry outputs) to Stop working as a prevention from a "Short Circuit". In simple words: New Stereos need Fully independent Wirings for each Speaker. I Hope this can Help you with the Proper Wiring. Kind Regards. -
I am almost 99% Sure that the cause is Different Bulbs, let me Explain: Each bulb provides some Resistance to the Circuit, when a Bulb Blows out, it doesn't provide resistance at all, so the Blinker without its normal resistance in the Circuit will blink Faster. When Different kind of Bulbs are Mixed, each side might have different resistance values ( Ω ) so that is Why one side has Different Speed than the Other... ...unless you have wired the Ground to the Bulb's Positive and the Positive to the Bulb's Ground. I Kindly suggest you to check all those bulbs and change all the Mixed types with the Equal (Proper) ones. Kind Regards.

85 mpfi head gasket - HELP?
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to rdweninger's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If you are Sure it is a Head Gasket issue, I Kindly suggest you to fix it and you'll continue driving that Subie. To replace the Head Gasket, first remove the intake manifold, next the exhausts, then the Timing Belts and Covers and finally the heads. Check each head to see if it is warped or cracked. The best way is to get a repair Manual (Click on my avatar) and follow their Directions. The head bolt Tightening / Undo sequence, as far as I Remember: Bottom Row = B, Top Row = T 1st B middle 2nd T and just to YOUR left looking at it as rocker view 3rd T and just to your right looking at it as rocker view 4th B and just to your right of 1st 5th B and just to your left 6th T most left 7th T most right 8th B most right 9th B most left ...as per gregory's manual, it says to remove just Loosen gradually on cold engine - no sequence... I Kindly suggest to review the manuals. The Better Gaskets for that engine is the Subaru Originals (At the Dealer or Online but Genuine parts), because the original Subaru Gaskets are better than the aftermarket ones; but I've read that Fel-pro Permatorques are very Good head Gaskets too and those don't need to re-torque the Heads. Here's a Website: http://www.ebay.com/itm/85-94-1-8-L-SUBARU-LOYALE-TURBO-HEAD-GASKET-SET-EA82-/190477104414 Some of us are able to change headgaskets without removing the engine from the car, however it is a lot easier with the engine Out... except for the added work of pulling / re-placing the engine. Good Luck! Kind Regards. -
Help diagnosing oil leaks ? please :)
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Skylar's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well... my BumbleBeast has 27 Years, over 300,000 original Miles on its EA82 an it doesn't Leak Oil nor Coolant; maybe because I Fix anything ASAP... I've changed Head Gaskets in the past, and all the Hoses frequently. Well, about the Coolant Leak on your Subie's engine: Have you Checked / Replaced the 90º 5/8 Elbow Hose, that goes from the Weterpump to the Heather pipe? Kind Regards. -
That is a Nice Trip. I'll Like to see Pics of your Subie in Mexico. That's because they Preffer to buy the "Made in Mexico" Stuff, always, also because that stuff is Tax free there (I mean their Made in Mexico cars doesn't pay import taxes). But there is a Subaru Dealer in Mexico: http://www.subaru.com.mx/ They started to Sell subarus in Mexico in year 2004 But Subarus are considered somehow as High Performance Luxury Cars there, so I only saw two in mexico when I went there in 2005: one in their Capital City (D.F. Federated District) and another in Acapulco City; both imprezas. The rest of latin america has more Subarus than Mexico. Kind Regards.

Well, the Description fits on that "Monster Wedge". Well... Subaru already did a Special car for a Japanese TV Series, known as the Subaru "Tortoise" (French for Turtle) I've posted it in the "Strange & Weird Subaru Stuff" Thread: But Sure it isn't that... ______________________________________________________________________________________ Edit: To avoid Hijack the Thread, I'll answer the Below posted question, here: Here's a Link to the Video, the Tortoise shows in the Minute 16:36 http://www.veoh.com/watch/v20523201hzK2atyR?h1=Kaiki+daisakusen.No.2 Kind Regards. -
