  1. I've Worked a whole Week during Night time to do the Swap... First Night I Removed the Sephia's Old & Worn T8D Engine. Then with Both engines Lyin' on the Floor, I Swapped intake Manyfolds.* Then the Other Parts. Brand New "Denso" U-Groove Sparkplugs. Brand New "Motul" SAE 15W~40 Oil & Luber-Finer Filter. Placed the New (to me) Spectra's T8D Engine on the Sephia's Bay. New "ShellZone" Coolant. ...and That's it! The Spectra Engine Fired Right on the First Key Turn and Purred like a Kitten!!! __________________________________ *So, 1fastkia was Right about the Port Differences: the Port Shapes are Different, let me Explain: The Sephia'a T8D engine Ports are Oval while the Spectras T8D Engine's Ports are Squarier and bigger, But the intake Manyfold of the Sephia Cover Perfectly the ports on the Spectra Engine: I've Just "Been There, Done That" So I Used my Sephia's old Engine Stuff on the Spectra engine and Worked 100% Well! Kind Regards.
  2. The Moderator and Kia Technician at the Kia Forums, told me This: here: http://www.kia-forums.com/kia-sephia-forum/66054-engine-interchangeability.html#post345792
  3. Compare it to the '03 Spectra's (Second Gen, Says K6-2) T8D Engine:
  4. This is the '00 Sephia's original T8D engine (First Gen, it says K6-1) when I Just Removed it from the Car:
  5. Well... Yes, I have been Lucky! This is How the Spectra's T8D engine Looked when arrived Home on the Sephia's Trunk:
  6. So instead of Doin' an OverHaul... ...I did a Crazy Engine Swap! I Obtained another T8D engine but Third Generation (From the late '03 Kia Spectra, my Wife's Sephia had a second Gen T8D engine) I Only Purchased the Block along with the Head (Long Block) Assembled as it came from Factory, in other Words: my Wallet wasn't enough big to purchase the Complete engine from the Junk Yard, so the people at the Junk Yard did Taken off some Parts from the Engine. Parts Removed in order to Lower the Price: Intake Manifold complete. Exhaust manifold Complete Flywheel. Front main Pulley Engine Mounts, except the one in front of the Timin' Belt Cover. (The old one was Damaged) All the E.F.i. Stuff, including ignition Coils, etc My Wife's Sephia still Ran with its original engine (Blowin' a Cloud of Smoke) and I Went to Purchase the New engine Driving it. The New (to me) engine was Pretty Clean, came from a Spectra with 67,000 Miles; the car was in a Huge rear Crash and the engine was inmaculate, even its oil was Clear. Since it came without intake nor exhaust manifolds, Flywheel, etc... I wanted to Use the ones from the old engine on the New; that way I will be Able to Run the New Engine with the EFi and OBD-II Computer from the Old one... and the Swap becomes Cheaper! Then, someone at the Kia Forums told me that it Won't Work at all due to the Different Design...
  7. ...And What an unholy Surprise I Found!!! The Timing Belt's Sprocket were Loose and the Previous Owner (or its Mechanic, I Don't Know), instead of Obtaining it New, or at least a Good used one, did This: With That Stupid Idea of Welding the Sprocket to the Crankshaft, not only the Sprocket wasn't well alligned (Making the Main Pulley to "Dancing"-Wiggling- as it is attached to the Sprocket) but also the Welding Burnt the Oil Seal there!!! So the T8D engine was Leakin' Oil and the Welded Sprocket to the Crankshaft makes to Change that Seal a Nightmare that involves to Change the Crankshaft and the Sprocket too... First I Obtained a Good used Crankshaft at a Junk Yard, then I Was Searchin' for a Good Sprocket and evertything involved, but then I Realized that the Pulley's Vibration must have "Eaten" part of the Engine's Life... And it was Still Blowin' White Clouds...
  8. Well... About That: The White Smoke never disappeared, but I Started to Check Things on the Kia and I Found a "Dancing" (Wiggling) Main Pulley, let me Explain: The Main Pulley that comes at the Bottom of the Engine, was moving almost an inch side by side on each Turn, so I Obtained a New one... ...Thinking that maybe the Old one was Bent.
  9. The Fuel Light is only one and it Trend to come On when the Fuel Gauge Reaches the Red Mark; is a very Small Square Light Aside the Gauge. ...and I Measured the Fuel Tank Long time ago, So I can Tell you that there's no 2.4 Gals left on the Tank at Red Mark; I believe that it Barely Reaches 1.2 Gals left. Kind Regards.
  10. As GD Said is a Waste of Time, also Money... The EJ Swap is the Best Idea to Improve the Old Subie's Performance, but you can Keep the EA82 as it is a Fuel Saving & Long Lasting engine. This is the Greatest & Funniest Phrase I've read in Ages!... ...I Like it! Kind Regards.
  11. Here are Some info about the Model Known as the Third Generation of the Subaru Leone (GL, Loyale, Omega, even Isuzu Gemminett II; it depends on the Country) : http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=968429#post968429 Also Here: Chart of EA82 changes throughout the years Kind Regards.
  12. Maybe this Thread could help you to Redrill it: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=73277 also, I believe that the Pitch is 1.25 but I'm not 100% Sure.
  13. I Like how the Green Contrasts the other Colour... Nice Subie!
  14. Mi 1985 GL Weberized EA82 has a Small Light Square aside the Gasoline gauge that becomes On when the Fuel needle is Touchin' the Low Fuel Red Mark. Maybe your subie has a Burnt Bulb there... Edit: I Forgot to say that Mine has Analog Dash. Kind Regards.
  15. I have a Friend here, who is the President of one of our Local 4X4 / Mountain Mud Track Clubs; he mades a Special Lift for those Land Cruisers, he also Drives a very tall one (a Li'l bit Older than Yours) I'll ask him if he lets me Take Photos of his Wagon and information about his Lifting procedure, so I can post 'em here. Maybe that can Help you. Kind Regards.
  16. Steve, could I kindly ask you if you know where I can Find a Rebuild kit for the EA82 Hitachi Compressors? I am just facing a huge Problem trying to find that to Fix my Wagon, as you can Read here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=126125 Maybe where you Obtained Yours? Kind Regards.
  17. I'm not sure if I Got the Idea... From 64,350 to 67,900 Miles... that Oil only was inside the Brat's engine for 3,550 Miles only? Was that Subie Sat / unused for Long Time? its Arguably, but you can leave the Oil unchanged if the car is not Driven for Long time, but the Engine Needs for sure to be Started at least twice at Month to Prevent it from Seize. Kind Regards.
  18. That's one of the Weirdest Steals I've ever Read. Didn't anyone Heard nothing? Basically I Don't believe a Straight Pipe will Hurt anythin' but the Enviroment, but you must be Careful to Drive your car Without a Cat, 'cos it could be Against the Law where you Live. Kind Regards.
  19. Also: You can't Start an Automatic Car if your Battery / Starter \ Electric System breaks Down and you're Alone in the Middle of Nowhere... While in the Manuals you can Start 'em using a Downhill steep or by Pushing it. Somehow Manuals are more Dependable. Also I saw one time an automatic 4X4 Mazda Pick-Up that ran out of ATF Oil due to a Hose failure, one of the Hoses that send the ATF to the Radiator just Leaked... and that left all the passengers alone in the Dark. Something alike is Hard to Happen on a Manual Trans. Kind Regards.
  20. Yes, I Believe it has Bad Head Gaskets, Specially if it Trend to Have certain "Pressure" on the Radiator, You'll notice that when removing the Rad's Cap while engine is Cool, there could be some "Blow" Sound. Good Luck! Kind Regards.
