  1. Holy Cow! ... The Same Exactly Happened to one of my Wagons, (You can see the Thread Here) The Good Part is that You're Allright and No one got Hurt, but the Car Damage is the Bad Part: Only a Subaru Owner that Cares, like Us, does Understand the Feeling... But I Suggest you to Take this as a Chance to Improve some Things... Kind Regards.
  2. Many Reasons could affect the Behaviour of the Engine, when Runnin' on Low RPM's, beside the Vehicle's Weight / HorsePower Ratio, Load, Kind of Road; I can Think on these "Easy Check & Fix" Ideas that Might Help: Bad Timing. Failing Advance at the Distribuitor. Clogged Cat and / or Muffler. Worn SparkPlugs. Low Octane Gasoline. I Kindly Suggest to do a "Tune Up" Changin' Sparkplugs if they're Old and Check your Subie's Engine Actual Timing Degrees, it Should be Around 20º Kind Regards.
  3. Could it be a Vacuum Leak Too? ... After Cleaning the Said Parts, if the Problem Persists, I Kindly Suggest you to Search for Vacuum Leaks. Kind Regards.
  4. I Believe that if you Might find the Time to Take Off the intake Manyfold to do a Swap... You Might Wash out Clean the one you already have, instead of a Swap... I Washed my EA82's intake when I Did the Weber Swap... ...and it is Still Clean!
  5. If everythin' is allright with the Carb, it could be a Clogged PCV Stuck or somethin' related to the Choke. Does it Acts like a Flood? ... in that Case it could be the Float Level on the Carb. Kind Regards.
  6. It sounds to me like a Vacuum Leak... I Kindly Suggest to Check for Vacuum Leaks... Good Luck.
  7. Subarus got Different Trim Levels and Option in Europe... Could you Post Pictures of the Engine Bay / interior? I Agree with This, Absolutely...
  8. Seems like the Brake Lines Needs more Bleeding... That's the Symptom of an Air Bubble... The Brakes Feeling with Engine Off and Some Hesitation while Pumping the Brake with Engine on is Normal. There also can be certain Damage in the Master Cylinder too... I Kindly Suggest you to Bleed ALL the Brakes Lines... Good Luck, Kind Regards.
  9. The Jetting for a 1.3L Engine Shoud work Fine in a 1.2L Engine... but the Best way to Confirm that is to Test Drive the car with it. Did you Obtain the Weber?
  10. This year my Family and I celebrate my Subie's 25 Year Anniversary! My Dad teached me Mechanics since I was a Very Young Child... I Started Learnin' in my 1969 Mercury Comet Coupe, which by the way, reached 40 Years in my Family last Year... You can see Pics & info of it, ~► Here. My Dad Purchased The Subaru Wagon New from a Dealer in Hollywood, CA (USA) in 1985 and the Subie Came Runnin' from there to my Country... I Can't imagine any Better Way to Break New an Engine! Some Old Pictures that I've Scanned: In this old Pictures, The Front Rims came from a Subaru XT and the Rear Ones, which are much Wider; came from a Renault. (Cheviot Brand ~ Made in France ~ 4X140) Actually I Changed all those for a complete Set of Newer Rims, by changin' the Lug Pattern. The Odometer is About to Reach 300,000 Miles without Changin' Almost anything inside the Engine, except: Head Gaskets (a Couple of Times), Valve's Seals, the Heads themselves, and the Oil Pump so far... But Outside the Engine I've installed a Weber Carb, plus a Different vacuum advance on the Disty and it has a Free Flow Exhaust, plus Lots of Changes in the Rest of the Car... Here you can See it Parked next to my Other Wagon (The 2.7 wagon, now wrecked) I have been in this site since Year 2001, So I am Reaching this year 25 Years of Being a Huge Subaru Fan, and almost 10 Years to be in this Great Club! ... ... I Must say that I've Learned Many of my Subie Repairs Here, without this Amazing Club I would done many Mistakes ... Also I've Shared my Own Ideas & Experiences on How to do Many Repairs and to do some Improvements to our Beloved Old School Subarus, Posting my Writeups Full of Pics & Detailed info in the ~► USRM. During this Time and with the Kind Help of other USMB Members, I Compiled a Database of All Subarus made & Prototypes, which can be Viewed ~► Here, where you can Find Rare Models like this one: Rare Options, like a Digital Dashboard's Buttons, like the ones in this Pic: Or the Complete List of Subaru Prototypes, with Pics & info: And More Strange & Weird Subaru Stuff! ... ... Like the Subaru "Royale" which is a Stretched XT6 ... Please visit that Thread for Further Details & info. So the Purpose of This Thread is to Say: Thank you So Much to all of You here, in USMB; for being Always So Kind & Helpful! Kind Regards. ►Edited to Update the Links and add the Tags for the New USMB Search System.
  11. Are you Sure that Only the Dashboard's Lights are out, or there is another Symptom; like a Dim HeadLight and / Or Tail Light? Because if So, it could be a Worn Relay... Kind Regards.
  12. Well... That means that there was No Brake Fluid Leakage at All... isn't it? Good Luck! Kind Regards.
  13. A Li'l Off-Topic Question, but How do you Say when Two Persons has the Same Name, in English? ... Namesake? We, in Spanish say: "Tocayo" Back to Topic: if you Need a Roomy Car and not too Old, you must Consider the Subaru Tribeca too... along the Forester and the Outback. Kind Regards.
  14. Welcome! if you... ...the Right Answer is a Subaru Wagon! Basically you'll got a Vehicle that has a Unique Reputation of Long Lasting, Amazing 4WD / All Wheel Drive Capabilities (Just Visit the Off Road Section) and a Woderfull Engine: Boxer ... with all the Advantages of Modern Tech... etc, etc, etc... Subarus are more used where Hard Winter Conditions / Off Roading Situations are Common; That's Why you'll see more in Certain Areas... Not Only of USA but of the World. I Hope this Li'l introduction to Subies will Help You. Kind Regards.
  15. Thank you So Much for Posting those Pictures. Definitely the Same Occurs in my Country... I Know that Feelin' ...
  16. No. Your Subie Still has its Original Carb? ... if So, let me Tell you Some Ideas that Might Help you: Those Hitachi Carbs use a Vacuum Activated Secondary Stage, which Usually Fails at Certain Age... I Kindly Suggest you to Take Pictures of your Carb, Front and Behind; so we can Figure out what's Happenin' but I'm Almost Sure that its Secondary Stage is not Functioning. Also a Good Tune Up with New Spark Plugs as Suggested, will Help A lot. Maybe the Exhaust is Clogged too... How is the Cathalytic Converter? Well... That's a Starting Point. Good Luck! Kind Regards.
  17. Also: The Greater Axle Workin' Angle will Destroy the CV Joints 10X Faster or So...
  18. if There are No Brake Fluid Leakage in any Wheel... There must be a Master Cylinder Failure... in this Case is Strongly Suggested to Change the Whole Main Pump due to the Wear it suffers thru the Years: it Becomes Oval. So a New Master Cylinder Kit not Necesary will Solve the Problem. Good Luck. Kind Regards.

  20. Please Visit This Thread: ( Click Here) To Find More Pictures and information about All the Subaru Prototypes, etc... Here a Pic from the Subaru Suiren: (there are More on that Thread, on Post Nº 651) Kind Regards.
  21. The Last time my EA82 Wagon made the Same Whistle Sound, very intermintent; it was coming from the Timing Belt Tensioneer's Ball Bearing. Some Coolant & Oil Leakage on this Engines is Somehow "Normal" if the Leakage is a Li'l Amount... Certain Places like the Oil Filter and the Various Tiny Water Hoses are Good Candidates... Are You Sure that the Head Gaskets are Damaged? ... I'll Suggest to do a Compression Test Prior to Determine their Real Being. Good Luck - Kind Regards.
