Vacuum line help
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to diamondjumper's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yes! ... Could you Post Pictures of your Subie's Current Carb Setup? ... Maybe that way we can Figure out what's Wrong with it... Let me Tell you that other Car Brands came with Hitachi Carburetors that Looks Almost identical to the ones on EA82 Subarus (Like Nissan Sunny / Sentra in example) those even fit Right there, but they Won't feed Right the EA82 Engine... I Tried to Drive my EA82 Subie with one of Those when the Original Craptachi carb died, it Never tuned well and fuel economy was lost, along it bring a Lack of Power... but the Weber Carb is the Best Solution I can imagine. So, along of Pictures of your Carb setup, I Kindly Suggest you to Post the Part Numbers found on your current Subie's Carburetor, in order to be Sure if it Belongs to an EA82 Engine. Kind Regards. -
Thank you for all your nice Comments! The Original Subaru Setup is 4 X 140 mm, I Changed that bolt Pattern, the New Pattern is 4 X 114.3 mm, the Same Found on many, many cars worldwide, such like some Nissan, Hyundai, Datsun, Ford, Honda, Toyota, etc; and is Very Common, Popular and much Easier to Find alternate Rims. Kind Regards.

Some of the Loyale Bodied Subarus came Factory with EA81´s Too (Here in my Country they even came with other Smaller engines too) so the EA81 will Work in your 91 Loyale, maybe you will "Feel" Somehow a little bit Less Power / Response, but Just a Li´l if the EA81 with Weber is Well Tuned; also you´ll Get Rid of the Timin´ Belts! it Worth Try... Specially if the EA81 is Known to be Good. Kind Regards.

Yes, Absolutely! Remember that the Only Difference on Subaru 2WD and 4WD Struts are that those intended for 4WD has the Spring Coil's Base welded two inches Taller in the Strut's Body, so it is Not Good Idea to Mix 2WD with 4WD Struts in the Same Car... unless you want to Raise Higher a Li'l bit the Rear or the Front of the Car, comparing with the other side... Kind Regards.

Hello Everyone! For many Years I Dreamed about to Swap a Rear Disc Brakes in the Place of the Drum Brakes on one of my Subaru Wagons, Because due to the Hard Use since 1985, the Drums had to be Rectified at a Machine Shop Twice (They Became Oval), and they Needs a very Thick Brake Shoes to Make it Work. Due to That, the rear shoes needed Adjustments every two Weeks, or the Auxiliary Brake Pump's Piston will go all the Way Out with the Unwanted Consequences... But to find Rear Disc Brakes for the FWD EA82 Subie isn't easy ... and it is even Worse in my Li'l Country. So a Great Friend here in the USMB contacted me: He had a Complete Set of those Rear Disc Brakes and just asked me for another Subaru Part to Trade ... Great Deal! ... ... But I Searched and Searched and Searched for that Part... All Across Honduras (and the Rest of Central America with some Help) and the Part that he asked to me was Almost impossible to Find! Because it has the LADM (Latin American Domestic Market) Specs and our JunkYards only have Cars that came from USA! ... Also the local Subaru Dealer told me that the part was Discontinued! Long Story Short: it Took me more than Two years to Find Brand New, some Pieces that goes inside that Part (More info ~► Here, on Posts Nº 29 and 30) and Finally I Sent them to USA ... and he Sent me the Complete Rear Discs Set! So I am Afraid of not finding the Right Words to Say: Thank You, Mr. Jerry (Bratsrus1) for your Kind Patience and effort, which I Really Appreciate ... you'll Never Know How Thankful I am! I Wanted to Share This story and Pictures of the Rear Disc Brake Set that he Sent to Honduras for Me: _____________________________________________________________________ So My Dream of Having Rear Disc Brakes Came True! This is How the Rear Disc Brakes Came Last Weekend, Well Packed in a Box: This is How the Stuff Looked just Out of the Box! A Brief Description of the Parts in the Picture: So, if you Notice from the Upper Photos, my Subies Run a Different Lug Pattern on the Wheels, not the Subaru Standard; I Did that Long time ago in order to swap more "Standard" Rims ... So I Have to Redrill the Lug Pattern on This Rear Disc Brakes also, to Fit the Rest of the Car's Pattern and Continue Using the Same Rims So I Worked this Weekend at a Friend's Machine Shop; and I Already Changed the Pattern ... ... Look at this Pic for Details: Well... Let me Know what do you Think About all this. Kind Regards.

Not too easy on EA82's ... They comes Factory with 4" Speakers Front and 6½" Rear; I Know that some 6½" Speakers might fit in the Front Doors but their magnet will Hit the Glass Mechanism, unless they are Small (Low Wattage) I Faced that problem Long time Ago and I just Placed the Front 6½" Speakers just over the Door's Panel and they have been There for more than Fifteen Years without any Problem. Here you can see a Picture: Kind Regards.

Vacuum line help
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to diamondjumper's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Which Carb your Subie Has? ... if it is the Original Craptachi Carb, it has a Vacuum Operated Secondary Stage... The one that Brings the Power on Higher RPM's and sounds to me like it is Unplugged or Plugged to the Wrong Port. So, The "Needed" or Basic Vacumm Lines at the EA82 with Craptachi Carbs, are the Vacuum for the Secondary Stage at the Same Carb itself, the Vacuum for the Timin' Advance to the Distribuitor and the EGR ones. I Kindly Suggest you to Start by Searchin' if the Carb itself has a Vacuum Leak, you can Spray Carb Cleaner on the Carb's Base while Keeping the Engine Revving at Around 2000 RPM's and see if the Spray Modifies the RPM's Speed... if So, it has been "Swalowed" by a Vacuum Leak that could be something as Simple as a loose Carb. The Secondary Stage, which is Located on the Carb's Rear; needs its Vacuum Advance pugged to the Right Port, which is Located on the Carb's Front... That Port has a "Progressive" Vacuum Behaviour, so if you Plug the Secondary Vacuum to a "Permanent" Vacuum Port, You'll Notice that the Engine will Deeply Accelerate to High RPM's... So Search for the Progressive Port. I Hope this can Help... if not, I Kindly Suggest you to do what I Did: Swap there a Weber Carb! Good Luck! Kind Regards. -
I Like your Buggy, it Looks very Nice! Here in my Country there are some Buggys Runnin' on Subaru EA81 and EA82 engines, also with VolksWagen's Bug Engines... but No one has a Complete Body like Yours... Could I Ask about the Body Material? ... is it Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic over Steel? ... or is it Sheetmetal? Kind Regards.

Thank you for Asking! Well... After facin´some problems, now I Hope that Soon I Will Repair my Warrior Subie (See This Thread to know Why) and I am Planning to do a Complete Restoration & Repaint Job... Kind Regards. -
I Kindly Suggest you to Check for Vacuum Leaks, Specially at the PCV ... the Problem sounds to me like a Stickin' PCV Valve. Kind Regards.

Everything Looks Very Good! ... I Like your Subie and by the Picture seems like you have many Great Old School Subies! ... Awesome! But I Kindly want to Ask you about the Great Stress Angle I Noticed in the Rear Axles... Do you Plan to Lower the Differential or you´ll Leave it like That? ...´cos the Great Stress Angle will Wear the Axles very, very Fast. Kind Regards.

Larger radiator for my EA82T?
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Steve W.'s topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Could I Ask if there is not Easy to Find a Custom Radiator Shop in New Mexico? ... or is it more Expensive to Order a Custom Made Radiator? I Run my EA82 Wagon with a Custom Twin Rows "Made in Honduras" Brass Radiator that was made in a Local Shop just using the original Rad's frame, because here the caribbean Climates makes the engine to Run very Hot with the Single Row one. Kind Regards. -
