  1. I Believe that for Both: Yes. I Saw a Thread about Battery Relocation but to the Trunk, like some BMW's ... you just Need to Run a Good Positive Cable well Shielded plus other minorities, but Could I Ask you Why do you want to Relocate the Battery? See this Thread in Example:http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=88477&highlight=battery+relocation
  2. Well... Those Old School Subaru A/C Systems are Very Long Lasting as the Car Themselves, their Problems are Related to the Relays and the Slippin' Belts. So if you Leave it Like That, it could last for Long Time Charged... in that Case could it be Better Idea to let it Work Again, it is a Weekend Job and if you Need Help with the Relays Swap, you can find my Writeup About That, Full of Pictures just by Clicking on my Avatar and Follow my Writeups List. The A/C Relays are Three: The Main One is inside the Car, just above the Fusible Box under the Dashboard; and Two more Relays are located in the Engine Compartment, just behind the Passenger's Strut Tower, below the Windshield. By the Picture you Posted I See that you have the Rare Panasonic Compressor Setup, which is Better than the Regular Hitachi Compressor. The Hitachi goes Between the Alternator and the Power Steerin' Pump, just where yours have the Alt. Kind Regards.
  3. The Main Problems with the A/C are the Electric Relays... They Trend to Fail with Age... I Replaced all those Round 12V X 20 Amps Relays with Standard Bosch 12V X 40 Amps ones and Problem Solved. Also the Slippin' Belt gives Headaches... But Fixed both Problems the A/C Works Awesome! ... and is Pretty Easy to Fix. But This... ...Could be Very Dangerous, 'cos if the Freon R12 Gas Leaves the Presurized System to the Atmosphere by Just Opening a Pipe and on its Fast Way Out, Touches your Skin, in Example a Finger; it could get Frozen inmediately and it could be Breaked and Lost! Also Freeing the R12 will Send Pollution that Damages the Ozone... So if you want to Remove the A/C System from your Subie, I Kindly Suggest you to take it to a Place where the R12 can be Drained with the Proper Equipment First. Kind Regards.
  4. I Have over fifteen Years of Experience with Car Paintings and Related Stuff... and I Found that the Fastest and Easiest Way to Remove Glue and Decals is very Cheap: RED OIL ... the one used to let Shiny the Wooden Furniture, it Also Won't Damage the Paint finish on the Car, just rub it with a Soft Cloth against the Glued area. Hope this can Help. Kind Regards.
  5. I Do not want to Hijack the Thread, but... ...Let me Tell you that this is a Very intelligent Idea that I just have imagined since long time Ago... Circuit Breakers on a Car will be Nice and also they will make it easy to Diagnose & Fix any circuit trouble like overload or short circuits... Please: Could you give more information about that? ... are there Available Breakers for 12V Car Systems? Kind Regards.
  6. if you Switch from Automatic Transmision Fluid to Power Steering Fluid, the Noise will Go; also it will Prevent some Leaking; but the Steering will become more Hard to Turn... not too Much. I Hope this can Help. Kind Regards.
  7. Yes, USMB is Wonderful! Also I Remember that Someone (That I Don't Remember Clearly Right Now) Posted some years ago that you can Use Real Fuses right at the Place where the Fusible Links Goes, so there is a Plastic Fuse that comes in other car's Brands, (like Corolla) that is Shaped with Female Pins and it Fit the Fusible Links Box Male Pins. I Suggest to use the USMB Search Engine for More info. I Hope this can Help. Kind Regards.
  8. Dear Friends: Thank you for your Kind Responses and your Words, I Really Appreciate That. Please excuse me for the Delay in Posting the Pictures but Finally you can see the First Hit... is not White Anymore... Read under my Nick Name... I was Wondering the Same... Imagine my Subie under the Sun Light... Well... me too! ... ... Well... the Guy who damaged my Garage was a "Hit & Run" so I Do not know who is... The Garage is Already Fixed but I Still Need to Re-Paint it and also I Didn't fix my Subie Yet. I will Wait for some Time to obtain Enough Money to Fix it Up... I Believe that the Better Way is to Obtain a "New" (to Me) Fender, Straighten the Rear Bumper and Paint the Car Again... Maybe I'll Change some of the Paint Pattern Design. I Will Post Here as Soon as any Progress is Made. Kind Regards.
  9. Welcome! More Details of your Subie will be Nice... so we could Help you in a Better Way... you even can Upload Pictures of it. Kind Regards.
  10. That is a Very Nice Lookin' Lifted Wagon, I Like it! Could you Give us more information about the Rims it Has? ... They Look 4 Lugs but seems to be 15" ... are Those Pugs (Peugeots)? Kind Regards.
  11. I Don't know if anyone noticed this but I've been Offline for some Weeks... the Main Reason is Because I'm Feelin' So Sad with my Everyday Warrior Subie. Why? ... Well ... My Weberized EA82 was Recently Painted (Remember the Thread "To Paint or Not To Paint" at the Playground?) and it was very Nice Looking, I Was about to take a Couple of Pics to post here, but then... I Was Driving very Slow in an Avenue where I had the Right to Go Straight without Stopping; my Subie was Doin' around 25 MPH in Second gear, then when Reaching one of the many Corners that are all long that Avenue, I Noticed a Kia Sportage Approaching that Corner from the Street... Collision Course ...but I Thought that the Other Driver will Slow Down and Stop, 'cos there was a Red "STOP" Sign in the Corner, Right in Front of the Other Driver's Eyes and his Kia was running around the same Slow Speed than my Subie... ...But he Never saw that Stop sign and... well... when he Reached the Corner, he just turned his head to see if Traffic was coming from the OTHER side of the Avenue and NEVER turned his Head to see in the Side where I Was Coming... so He Accelerated his car Just in Front of Mine ... ... I Never Expected That! ... so his Sportage Crashed my Subie's Front Passenger Side, Just the Above the Wheel to the HeadLamp Area... Now my Subie Needs a New Fender ... ... The Guy admited that it was his Fault, swearing that he "Never saw" my Subie but he Agreed to Pay to me, but Just the 70% of the Damage... Well, he was a Good man that just made a Mistake... Then the Next Week, I was Drivin' my Subie with the Crashed Fender, when another Driver that was Behind my subie, who was Talkin' by Cellphone while Drivin' (which is illegal here), did Not Stop in Time after a Red Light where I Was Stopped... his Hyundai H1 SVX Van (Hyundai uses the "SVX" as Trim level Designation for the H1 Van) hit the Rear Bumper on my Subie ... ... Now the Rear Bumper was Pushed a pair of inches inside from one Side ... ... also, this other Driver said that he "Never Saw" my Subie. Sometimes I Guess if I did invented some kind of invisibility Paint ... ... So I Decided to Keep my Subie closed inside its Garage at Home and Drive my Wife's Kia Sephia while I Obtain enough Money for a Junk Yard's "New" Fender and the Paint, plus other required things to Fix it Up, including some new Rear Struts and other minorities. This last Weekend, my Wife, my Daughter and I, went to Visit my Parents at my Hometown, so we Traveled in my Wife's Sephia... and Could you Believe what I Found when I Came back Home? I Didn't Believe my Eyes at First Sight... My Subie was Still Parked inside the Garage, with the garage's Metallic Door Closed as I Leaved it, but Some Drunk Driver went Straight in the Corner in front of our House and Crashed the Garage's Door Plus pushing with it my Subie's rump roast Again! ... ... Could you Believe that??? Have anyone here Experienced a Car Crash while it is Parked inside its Closed Garage? So Now I Already Fixed the Garage's Door but my Subie's Rear Bumper Needs a FiberGlass Coat to be Restored, So I'll Need more Money to Fix it Up and it Means more Time to Obtain it... Well... Let me Know what do you Think About this. I Will Upload & Post here some Pictures About those Crashes as Soon as I Can... Kind Regards.
  12. Yes, it Looks Great! ... I Like it! I Kindly Suggest you to ask the Previous Owner about the Last Timin' Belts Change and if they're too Old is Better Idea to Change 'em along their Tensioners. Also the Oil / Filter \ Sparkplugs ... The Usual. I Really Like the Checkered interior, I just saw One here in my Country. Kind Regards.
  13. if it is a 32/36 Like Mine, Check if there is the Return Spring on the Secondary Stage's Actuator... Kind Regards.
  14. Glad to Read that you Found the Problem's Cause, but this... ...is Not a Normal Behaviour as far as I Know on those Subies, Could I Ask if you or the Previous Owner did installed something like an Aftermarket Radio (The ones that Needs a Constant ON Power wire to Keep the Settings in Memory) or Halogens, or Alarm, or anything like That? ... Because maybe there is a Misplaced wire at the Fuse Box. So I Kindly Suggest you to take out the Fuse Box and check each Wire for some unwanted power Detour, also Maybe there could been a Loose Wire that could have "Moved" when you Worked the Axles... I Hope this could Help. Kind Regards.
  15. This is True... Specially for the USA Market, 'cos in Latin America we had Carbed Subies from EA series 'till 94 and the Early EJ Series came Carbed too from 89 'till that 94 Year. Kind Regards.
  16. People at the Kia Forums told me that the 1.8L (16 Valves) engine on those Kias Need a Thinner Oil than the 20W~50 I Poured in it... they Suggested Just 30! For a 112,000 Miles engine, What do you Think About? ... it Really will be Harmful for the Engine the 20W~50 or I Must Change it for 30? I am Considering to Choose a 15W~40... What do you Think About? Any Suggestion will be very Welcome! Kind Regards.
  17. Also you Might Count the Subies that came with that feature to other Countries like Latin America... I have seen some of those here...
  18. Just for info: we Had Subaru Touring Wagons Here since the Leone (a.k.a: EA81) then the Loyale (a.k.a: EA82) and Legacy, also the Baja came here but just very Few... ...and Lot of Body Styles / Engines Remixes were available... in Example: the Body Style known as "Loyale" came here in Sedan with 1.3L and 1.6L engines, in Wagon came 1.6L and 1.8L but that last one were EA81, the EA82 and the Turbo versions of both (EA81T and EA82T) were just "Optional" Engines for Luxury Models... Did the Subaru Lineup came like That There too? Kind Regards.
  19. Did you Know that there is a Kia Sephia Based Lotus Elan? ... Well I Just saw it here: http://cgi.ebay.es/LOTUS-KIA-ELAN-1-8-DOHC-Ano-2000_W0QQitemZ160378676399QQihZ006QQcategoryZ18308QQcmdZViewItem
  20. Me Too... I Kindly Suggest you to put a Tiny uniform coat of Shellac on each Side of all Gaskets, in order to make 'em Last Longer plus preventing from Vacuum Leaks. This is a Link to the Shellac from Permatex: http://www.permatex.com/products/Automotive/automotive_gasketing/gasket_sealants/Permatex_Indian_Head_Gasket_Shellac_Compound.htm Good Luck! Kind Regards.
  21. Well... be Patience and Try to get a Donor Car for Useful Parts in order to get it Fixed without being too expensive, if there is No Donor car available from the Same Model, you can be Creative and Swap Newer Subie Parts There... Pics of your Progress will be Great! Good Luck! Kind Regards.
  22. Dear Friend: Thank you for Share Those Wonderful Pictures of Subarus and your Country... You're So Kind! I Really Liked all the Pictures but I Really wish to know More details about this "Loyale Brat" ... Seems to be a Good Project Idea: I Really Knew many things about your Beautiful Country... also let me Tell you that my Daughter Loves the icelandic TV Series "Lazy Town" (also I Like it too) Kind Regards.
  23. I Really Like those Brats... So Sad That I'm So Far... Kind Regards.
  24. Seems like the Carburetor got Dirty, I Kindly Suggest you to Clean it and it could be done in Two Ways, the Easy and the Hard way. Easy Way is for Light Dirt: - Get a "Carburetor & Choke Cleaner" Spray. - Run the Engine 'till it Raises to Normal operatin' Temp, then Shut it Off. - Then unhook and Remove the Air Filter Box. - Use the "Carburetor & Choke Cleaner" Spray and Gently Spray first the Carb's Outside Movin' Parts and then the inside, while manually move the Butterflies and Choke; then Carefully insert the mini Straw in the Spray can's tip (be careful to avoid Spray yourself) and try to Reach with the Sprayed Cleaner the internal Parts. - let it Rest for a while, (one Hour minimum) then try to Start the Engine with Gas Pedal between 1/4 to 1/2 of its way Down; dont pump it to Avoid Drowning. The Car will be Hard to Start but after three or so Tries it Shall Start, first very Rough... Let the gas pedal Li'l Pressed and let it Stabilize itself while you still have the Gas Pedal Li'l Pressed. - Finally with Engine Runnin' at normal Idle Speed and completely Stabilized, take the Spray can again and Remove the mini Straw, manually Hold the Accelerator Cable and accelerate the engine at around the 4,000 RPM's and Hold it There while you give to the Carb's Throat Short (two seconds Long) Sprays of Cleaner... The engine will reduce the RPM's but you Must Keep Holding the cable at the same position and let the engine Back to the 4,000 RPM's acceleration and Stabilize itself back again ... - Repeat the Short Spray again while you still keep holding the accelerator cable ... do That for ten or so Times, then Keep Accelerated the Engine untill it Stabilizes itself again, finally when is Stabilized, release the Accelerator Cable and let it Rest at Idle RPM's for a While. - Final Step: Test Drive the Car, the Problem Must be Gone. - Advice: After done that Carb Cleanin' Procedure, I Kindly Suggest to Change Sparkplugs, air Filter and Gas Filter as Needed if those are Old, also is Very important to add a Gasoline additive "Carb & Fuel Injector Cleaner" to 3/4 Gas Tank and Drive the car without Refill the Tank untill Near Empty. There is a Chance that the Distribuitor's Points are gone Bad too, so I Kindly Suggest you to Change 'em. Warning!: Wash your Hands and avoid to Spray the Cleaner to the Skin or Eyes, is very irritating. Hard Way is for Very Dirty Carbs or when the Easy Way Failed: in That Case Take the Carb to a Qualified Carburetors Service Shop... or get Rid of that Hitachi Crapburetor and Swap there a Weber! for Better Performance, Easy Maintenance and increased Lower end Torque... also Better (Cleaner) Engine's Look. I Hope this will Help you! Kind Regards.
  25. I Agree, Absolutely. Could I Ask Why a Nice Lookin' Brat that seems to have a Recent Paint Job, will end in such Place like That? Kind Regards.
