  1. ??? Well... An Ex Co-Worker had a 1988 Nissan Blue Bird 1.8 Turbo with Similar Problems; I Remember that he Told me that He Found the problem: it was a Fail in the MAF due to a Worn Electronic Part that I am Not Completely Sure Right Now; A Solenoid Maybe? So I Kindly Suggest to Check that MAF. I Hope this can Help. Kind Regards.
  2. This is the Result of my Wife's Search, she was after another car to keep as Backup vehicle, since the Series of Unfortunate Events that we faced with our Beloved Subaru "BumbleBeast" after the 7.3 degree Earthquake... and my '69 coupé is at my parents' home, far away... ► As usual in all my posts, underlined words are web links to further information on the subject. I wanted to buy a Local -Honduran- '90 Legacy with LADM (Latin American Domestic Market) Specs, means that its EJ20 engine came from factory with an Hitachi Carburetor and Distributor, and its 5 speed manual transmission has Dual Range; you can see Photos and a Video of that, in the following thread, ~► Here. But between my Wife and I, the only one who liked it was me... also Subaru doesn't have Dealer Support nor aftermarket support anymore in my Country, so to obtain spare parts for Subarus became difficult here; you can read more about that "fading" Subaru Dealer situation, ~► Here. So, we needed a Second Car, especially after our baby Daughter was born; and our "New" car shall have plenty Dealership and aftermarket support to avoid the problem of Lack of spare parts that I'm facing with my Subaru; and also we were on a very low budget; so after searching in internet, we won an Auction at the COPART website and we obtained this used 2000 Kia sephia Sporty sedan. It was Ridiculously Cheap: $ 300.ºº US Dollars for the Car plus another $ 300.ºº for the Delivery inside a Container, on a Merchant Vessel from Georgia (USA) to Honduras (Central-America) we're very near; then we just paid the cheap import taxes... and Kias are pretty abundant here, just like toyotas, they have plenty of Dealership and aftermarket support, mainly because Kias has been sold in Honduras / central america, since the 1970's decade. The car came with a minor Hit on the upper part of the front trunk, like if it hit the rear of a big pick up truck's trailer hitch; and has faded paint, but also it has a Very Clean interior that looks like if only the driver used the car, and never had any passengers. I know that older Kias are considered Junk in USA, but they have improved the Overall Quality in Recent years, I think from year 2000 they're Much better than the previous models used to be for sure; but still Kias are Cheap cars, and Used cars are very Expensive in my Country, so that Kia was a good bargain for us. The Question is: Does Anybody at this Club, have Experience with Kias / Kia Sephia? This sedan has an 1.8L DOHC MPFi in-line 4 cylinder, 16 valves, non-interference Engine; 4 speed Automatic transmission with Overdrive, Sporty mode; comes with chromed 15" wheels, rear spoiler and a CD Stereo, but it has Missing its Faceplate. Any Advice will be Very Welcome! ( Edit: it has Around 111,000 Miles) Kind Regards.
  3. Congratulations! ... I Really Like your Subie, it Looks Soo Clean! Could you Upload some Videos of it? ... I'll Love to See that EJ22 Loyale in Action! Kind Regards.
  4. Also, the Last Time I Went to the Dealer's Shop, I Took some Pictures of Their Manual with my Cellphone's Camera, Sorry for their Poor Quality but They Gives the Idea:
  5. I Have the Numbers I Obtained the Number of Each Part, but let me Tell you that there are Two Different Part Numbers for the Complete Distribuitor, for the Carburated Subaru EJ Engines, but Both Use the Same internal Parts. The Complete EJ Engine Distribuitor is Listed in the Dealer's Manual with Part Numbers: ► 22100 - AA460 (for the EJ15 and EJ16 engines) ► 22100 - AA550 (for the EJ18 and EJ20 engines) The Rotor Head is Listed with Part Number: ► 22157 - KA060 (item Nº 15 on the Manual's List) The Cap-Assy is Listed with Part Number: ► 22162 - AA090 (item Nº 14 on the Manual's List)
  6. Well... I've received many PM's about the EJ Engines with Factory Carburator and Distribuitor, also regarding about the Dual Range EJ Transmissions, and their Part numbers... So I decided to turn this Thread in a Source of Information about the LADM (Latin American Domestic Market) Specs Subarus, to share information & Photos about the Non-USDM Specs Subarus, not only from the LADM, but from the Rest of the World. Lets Share the Info! ... ... Kind Regards.
  7. Seems like I've Just Solved the Mistery about Why is so Scarse and Hard to find those ignition Parts for the Carbed EJ Engine... Please Follow This Link: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=874365 (and Look from Post Nº 28 to 30) I Hope This information will be Helpful. Kind Regards. JesZeK

  9. Well... Finally, I Have the Numbers I Obtained the Number of Each Part, but let me Tell you that there are Two Different Part Numbers for the Complete Distribuitor for Subaru EJ Engine, but Both Use the Same internal Parts. 10. I Will Ask my Money Back Too... Could I Kindly Ask you for Pictures of That EMPI Carb? ... I Have Never Seen one, just the Rebuild Kits Made from EMPI for Webers. Kind Regards.
  11. I have been Off-Line (No internet Access) For a While... my PC Keeps givin` me Headaches, but seems like it is Runnin` fine Now. Thank You! ... ... You're So Kind. Well... Let me Tell you that my Wife Won one Auction at Copart, so She Purchased a 2001 car with minor crash very very Cheap, thru internet, it is Coming in a Cargo vessel Soon... (So I Will Have more "Fixing & Painting" Weekends Job Guaranteed for a While) Kind Regards.
  12. I Assume it is an EA82, isn`t it? ... if So, to Check the Timin` take off the Rubber Cap at the Gearbox`s Top, it Hides the Flywheel with its Marks... then with a Timin` Light Gun, set the Timin` at 20º or Around 20º Should be Fine. Don`t you have Pics of your Subie? Kind Regards.
  13. Holy Cow! ... and I Thought that my Subies Timin` Problem was Weird! Good Luck! Kind Regards.
  14. Thank you, You're So Kind! But I'll Try to Obtain First the EJ Calipers already mated onto the EA Brackets. Kind Regards.
  15. Well, after searchin' among many local Junk Yards (Called here: ~► "Yonkers") seems like I could Not source the parts Locally for mating EJ Calipers onto EA Brackets.
  16. Yes, I remember that I liked the Stopping Power it Had when my "BumbleBeast" was New, in 1985. That is only a Memory nowadays... that front e-Brake system suffers too much Wear with age and usage. Kind Regards.
  17. No, it is Not a Secret; so I'll Post the Number here As Soon as Possible, I Didn't went to the Dealer yet, because I Have been ill... but I Think that within the few Next days I will. Kind Regards.
  18. Nice Legacy! With the Power Windows` Switch, I Kindly Suggest you to Try with Another Switch from a Junk Yard... Usually Rust on internal Switch`s Parts lead `em to Fail and Repaired Switches Won`t Last too Much... Kind Regards.
  19. The EJ Engine is the Ideal Way, but I am Not Sure if the Wide Space on the Engine Bay will Allow to Fit an EJ Properly in that 81 Brat. Your Brat is Gen 1 or Gen 2? ... I`m Not Sure... A Li`l Bit Off-Topic but I Will Love to See Pictures of That; Sounds Very interesting and I Believe that Many of Us can Learn a Lot. Kind Regards.
  20. Well... I had a similar Problem Some time ago; one of my EA82 Subie`s Timin` Belt Slipped, Due to the Fact that it Missed Some Theet! You could see Pictures and More information about, Here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=99888&page=4 Also, I Kindly Suggest you to Read the Great MilesFox`s Write up about the Timin` Belt Procedure in EA82`s ... it could be Found at the USRM. Kind Regards.
  21. Welcome! It will be Nice to See Pics of your Subie Here... and About the Misfire, it could have an internally Broken Spark Plug Wire... Kind Regards.
  22. So Sorry to Read That ... ... I Know that Feeling, some time ago, someone Stole all my Mercury Comet`s Sound System (It was a Stereo with Pre Amplifier EQ and Amp of 200W X 4) the Robber just Cut ALL the Wires, Making the Car Undriveable Untill I Rebuilt almost any Single Wire from its Electrical System... I Really Hate Robbers. Could I Ask you if That Wrench was Yours, Taken from your Garage; or if they Bring it There? Well... I Believe that Using Some Kind of Electric Shield could be Dangerous to the Family Too, if Someone Forgets to Disable the Shield Before Touchin` the Garage... I Kindly Suggest you to install some Motion Detectors with Lights and Sound Alarm, or something like That... A Nice Dog could be Very Helpful too! ... Kind Regards.
  23. Yes... Not only a Worn Ball Bearin` can make that Sound, but a Extremly Dry Ball Bearin` Too... I Kindly Suggest you to Tell him that is Better Idea to Take Out that Alt and Check it, `cos it might be More than Just a Ball Bearin` Noise; it could be a Broken Part inside the Alt, that Might Lead to More Problems if Leaved Unattended. Kind Regards.
  24. Well... Beside That way to do a RWD Conversion, exist the "Latin American" Way, Very Weird: To Swap the entire RWD Drivetrain from Another Vehicle. I Have Posted Pics here... For Example, Look at This Loyale Sedan: Look Carefully Under the Vehicle and You`ll Notice... ...a RWD Drivetrain from a 1983 Corolla Wagon, includin` the Spring Leafs... That`s Good Idea to Get Rid from Broken Axles... I Shoot those Pics here, in my Country. Kind Regards.
  25. Dear Friend Jerry: I will Send you an e-mail with the Answer As Soon as I Can Get the Right Numbers; I`ll Go to the Dealer Within the Next Weekend. Kind Regards.
