  1. I Don`t Believe it is Completely Damaged... But the Better Way to Know is to Open the engine and See. If you Check it and there are no big Damage, you can Just Reseal it, Change the Bearings, Head Gaskets, Oil & Water Pumps and That`s it! I Fixed a Subie with that Same Story Long Time Ago... The Owner Drove it around a Year Overheating Badly, it Even got Cracked Heads! ... ... but I Just Changed Both Heads, HG`s and Water Pump and it Still Runs Fine... You Might Consider that if your Subie`s Engine Didn`t Sing the "TOD" (Tick of Death) Song as the other engine Did, and if the Other engine Sang it for Long Time, your Engine`s Hydraulic Lifters May be in Better Healthy Shape than the Other ones. So, if you Think in Build an Engine with Parts of those Two, I Suggest you to Keep your Hydraulic Lifters, Maybe the Whole Heads... Good Luck!
  2. Maybe is a Fool Question, but There it Goes: Seeing Many of Us Swapping Carburetors on Bigger Engines Like EA81 and EA82 (And Some even in EJ22) is it Possible to Swap the Hitachi Carb from your Justy, with another one more Reliable? I Don`t Believe a Weber could fit There, but Maybe Another one... For Example, the Carb from a EA81 Could Fit There? ... if So, Properly Jetted will Work Nice and it will be Easier to Get Parts, I Believe... Kind Regards.
  3. Welcome! Needing more Details in Order to Help you to Fix your Subie, but an Easy Fix and a Good Point to Start Searchin` For the Cause is the Fusible Links. I Suggest you to Check them, inside the Black Box attached to the Overflow Tank, aside the Battery... Good Luck!
  4. I Respectfully Suggest you to Do Not Put Back the Stock Craptachi Carb again... I Suggest you to Take Off the Weber, Remove the Choke Linkage, Clean it Very Deeply and Carefully (always Wear Safety Gogles) with the Best Carb Cleaner Spray you may Obtain, if the Mini Fuel Pump inside Doesn`t Spray Gasoline, Then Change it (is Easier than it Seems) and Before Put it Back to your Subie, Check the Choke... if Choke is Bad, you may Obtain a Replacement, even the Stock Craptachi`s Resistor Coil Might Work there... After Reasemble, Check Everything Again Before Reinstall, you Know, Linkage, Pump`s Spray, etc... It is just Some Sort of Maintenance, I Believe that Just Doin` that, your Subie will Run Like a Champ Again! Kind Regards.
  5. I Like your Subie`s Blue Colour... Maybe adding Light Fine Metallic Grey in the Side`s Lower Part + Matching Bumpers will Give it a More Nice & Modern Look... With the Clear Coat over all. Could I Ask you Why? ... it seems to be a Hard to Find Banner with So 80`s Look.
  6. Maybe it has a Blown Hose, the Usual one who Blows First on EA82`s is the 90º Degrees 5/8" Hose that Comes from the Water Pump`s Upper side, Turning over the Engine and Connecting to the Heather Pipes... Because its Location, it usually is not Checked too Often... I Suggest you to Check Everything Related to the Coolin` System, fix the Needed, and Try to Drive your Subie Again... Maybe the Head Gaskets are Fine. I Believe that is Due to your Area`s Climates, isn`t it? All my Cars are Runnin` Fine Without Thermostat for Many Years and seems like this Keeps the Coolin` System more Healthy; but I Live in the Tropical Caribbean... (No Snow nor Salty Roads here, But our Roads Sucks) ...and the Temp Gauge Barely Reaches 1/4 in normal Driving Conditions.
  7. Yes, a Set of the Same Kind is Better than a Mixed Struts... You can Compare about the Base Plate when you take them out. Kind Regards.
  8. Could I Ask... ...How that Ign. System Works and What are the Advantages?
  9. Yes but No, Let me Explain: 2WD Models` Struts have the Base Plate for the Spring Coil, Welded Two inches Lower than the 4WD Models` Struts... So Yes: They will Fit Perfectly but No, You may not Use a 2WD Strut in one side while there is a 4WD Strut in the Other Side... I Suggest to Find the 4WD one, or Change `em Both with the 2WD ones... Good Luck!
  10. Congratulations! ... Very Nice Lifted Subie, Seems it like only Needs Bumpers & Paint Job.
  11. Well... Then Try Something like This: Confusing, isn`t it?
(Translation) You`re Welcome! But here we only write in English... there are some people who Speak Spanish here, but everything is Kept in English so Everybody will Share and Understand. Pretty Subie you Have, Thank you for Sharing Your Pictures.
  13. I Agree, Absolutely! Well... if you can not Store your Brat, maybe you could Find a Friend who can give you Space for your Subie in the Backyard for a while... Because if I Were You, I`ll Never Sell it.
  14. Well... I Drove my Subie with those Relays Hangin' around there for much more time than a Week, which was more than Enough Test, They Work Awesome! ... ... So, it is time to Put 'em Back to their Place. I Obtained a Solid Metal Angle, I Drilled Four Holes in one Angle's Side for the Relay's Screws and Two Holes in the Other Angle's Side to Hold it Up. After Sandpaper & Covered it with AntiRust Paint, I Put the Two HeadLamps' Relays in the Corners, Away from each Other to Prevent Heat interchange. Those are the Yellow ones: Then, in order to Prevent a Loosen Contact, I Attached a Plastc Zip Tie to Each Relay, it Wraps Around the Relay and it's Base, Between the Wires, Holding both Together: Then I Cutted the Remaining end of the Zip Ties, The setup Finally ended Lookin like This: Then I Closed everything and That's it!
  15. Maybe you can Trade your Brat with a Wagon you Want... is Good Idea to Post it Here Too: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=70 Good Luck!
  16. I Respectfully want to Add an Option 3: 3. Replace your Craptachi Carb with a Weber... it will give to your Subie a Little More Power / Low end Torque plus more Reliability, but I Don`t know Much about Smog Stuff...
  17. Click in my Avatar, it will send you to my "Public Profile" Page... Scroll Down and you`ll Find a List of my Writeups... I Have one about how to Swap the Old Roundy Relays (Stock) With Bosch Standard Ones (Better), Plenty of Pictures. Those Relays are Behind the Sunglases` Case, Over the Fusibles Box. To Reach `em you need to take off the Whole Fuse Box, and look Up... I Hope this can Help, Good Luck!
  18. Why? ... Can`t you Keep the Brat and the Other Subie you Want?
  19. Welcome! will be Great to see Pictures of your Subie! Sometimes is Easier to just Replace the Whole Transmission instead of Repairing it, but I Suggest that if you write what exactly is the Problem that your Subie`s Transmission have, maybe we can bring more Ideas to Help you... Everything else is Better to be Changed New: Battery, Tires, CV Joints... Kind Regards.
  20. ...and when it Happens, it is About to Break! ... ... I Suggest you to obtain another Clutch Cable and carry it in the Trunk...
  21. Yes! ... I have seen one, even the interior (it is a Subie of a Client at my Work) and I Noticed the Door`s Speakers and every trim in Black... Those are Pretty Subies! ... ...
  22. If that`s not Deep Rust, you can use Sandpaper, Clean it and then Paint it with Anti Rust Paint (Like Rustoleum) That`s an Easy Fix, but only for Light Rust...
  23. That is a Great Animated .gif File, Good Job! I Just Love the Yellow / Golden one, very alike my Subies ... ...
  24. Not All Loyales got that Switch, isn`t it? ... My 1985 Models Doesn`t have it, Back to the Steering there`s Just a Top Mounted Push / Pull Button marked with a Triangle, to Switch On / Off the Parking Blinker Lights... The Only "Weird" Switch I`ve Found, is that the Main HeadLamps` Switch has another -Hidden- Position, more Left than Off... if you Press the Switch and then Turn it Left, it will Turn On the Side Markers / Tail Lights \ License Plate`s Lights Without turning On the Dashboards` Lights. But my Loyales got the Main HeadLamps` Switch mounted on the Dash, not on the Steerin` Column. Kind Regards.
