Camber & Caster Questions!
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Loyale 2.7 Turbo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I Agree with you about to Check the Strut... and about the Yellow Print too! (The Blue is the one I used when this Forum was Light Grey... then Changed to Dark Grey, The Blue became Almost Unreadable ...:-\... I Already asked to the Mods to Change the Blue Colour to Yellow on the Writeups -Plenty of pics- I Made to Help People, a List of `em are at my "Public Profile" Page here, just click on my avatar...) -
Nice Found! ... Those Subies are Lookin` more Nissan alike, I Believe due to their Rims... and I Noticed a Different Steering Wheel too...

Colorblindness and fog lights
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to baccaruda's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I Suggest Normal Halogen Colour, `cos it is Yellowish without Being too Deep, and it illuminate Better the Road, and is Safer than the Blueish Colour, Specially on Wet Pavement. -
Brat spark plugs
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to bratman18's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I Preffer "Y" ones, and that "Y" only means that they had their Ground to the electrode tip, cutted in "Y" Shape, supossed to give Better Spark... Let me Tell you that for Years I`ve Tried Many Many different Kinds of Spark Plugs on my EA82 Subie... (and other Subies -and other brand cars- from Friends) ...From Cheap Champion, Autolite, ... to Bosch of Three and Four Tips, even Beru Platinum, etc... and I`ve Noticed that only two Kinds of Spark Plugs Performs Great on those EA Engines, both are Japanese and not too expensive: NGK`s = BPR6EY11 ( with the now Famous "Y" Cut ) Denso = K16TR11 ( with the called "U-Groove" Cut ... Almost Same idea ) Those are the Better Performers on EA Engines as far as my experience tells ... I`ve Changed many Spark Plugs on Many Subies and Those are the only ones I Could Suggest. Let me Tell you that the Denso ones Perform Better than the NGK`s ... They`re like the Same, but Denso ones comes with a Different Kind of Double Tip Ground to the Electrode, that instead of make the Spark Jumps from one tip to Another (Like Other multi tip Sparks Does) The Denso ones makes a Round Big Spark Between the "U" Cutted Tips that almost Surround The Electrode... The Denso`s K16TR11 have the Part Number 3194 I Hope that info can Help you. Kind Regards. -

Camber & Caster Questions!
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Loyale 2.7 Turbo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yes, You are Right! ... ... it is Hard to Explain and to Measure it Right, but After Taking it Out (I`ve Changed a Damaged CV Joint`s Boot before the Ball Bearing goes Out of Grease...) I Measured it against the Other Side`s one, and a Friend Mechanic did Help me... and Both of Us Agree that it is a Bent Knuckle! :-\ Well... imagine Driving a Subie Since 1985 in our Bad Crazy Roads Fully of Potholes & Bad Drivers... a Bent Knuckle is more Understandable... Well, it is just a Li`l bit Bent, not too Much but Enough to bring that Alignment Trouble and the Tire Wear... I`ll Start Searchin` for another -Junk Yard- one... Thanx! ... Kind Regards! -
Yes, me Too... but I Believe it is Much Wider than the Average EA / EJ Engines... maybe That`s Why the New impreza came Wider Too...

The Best way to Post Pics Here, is to Upload `em to a Free Pictures Server, like Photobucket, Then just Copy the Pic from there (with the Right Click) and Paste it (with the Right Click) Here... ...

Holy Cow! ... That Seems to be So Unsubaru... :-\ ... With the Recent Problems at the World Rally Championship, the only Thing to Happen Next to Kill Subaru, is that They Start Develop Straight in-line Cyls Engines for the impreza! http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20081217/SPORTS/812179943/1092/BLOG25

Speed Racer 37: 25 M.P.H. or less
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Markus56's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Lots of Reasons could Cause That... This are Few to Mention some: if it Still has the Original Craptachi Carb, then the Secodary Stage which is Vacuum Activated, must be Bad, Unplugged or has its Linkage Disconnected... Check it at the Carb`s Back. More Vacuum Leaks... Check All the Hoses... Replace as Needed... Distribuitor`s Cap And / Or Rotor Failure... Bad Spark Plugs + Cables Clogged Exhaust... Well, I Suggest to Start there... Good Luck! -
I find it funny
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to The Dude Abides's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Here in my Country Subarus are Loved or Hated by People, not Mid Feelings... People Who Love 'em, usually is due to knowing Something about Mechanics (even with knowing Just the Basic Concepts) Also they Learned to Love 'em with Time, as Time Passes by and the Subie is Always Ready to go Anywhere... Our Streets are Very Bad & Dangerous, not every car Survives and Last that Long like Subies do... They Seems to Last Forever, I Love to See those Old Sambar Pick Ups, Microbuses, Rexs, Justys, Leones, Loyales, even some FF1 Models Still Runnin' Good! ... Along New Imprezas, Legacys, foresters... etc ... Those Owners Love their Rides and their Features Like Hill Holder, the "Turn Lights Off when Engine is Off" etc... and they don't even think in sell them, never... Just like Me! I Love my "BumbleBeast"! But People who Hates 'em here, are People who don't care anything about Mechanics and had suffer from the Bad Repair Shops we Have here, with Things like Timing Belts (I Knew Someone who had three Months Tryin' to Start his EA82 after bad Timing Belts Job in a Repair Shop, I Helped Him with the Great MilesFox Writeup) or Bad CV Joins, or the T.O.D. Sound... The Main Reason to Hate 'em Here, is the Mechanic Ignorance at Repair Shops... I've Helped Lots of People to Fix their Subies ... ... Then They Like 'em Again. Seems Like There is a Thin Line Between Love and Hate for Subies Here... So sadly, Subarus are slowly disappearing, fading away from Honduras; due to this Problem: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/118040-subaru-is-loosing-dealership-support-on-central-america/?hl=%2Bloosing+%2Bdealership -

Top Ten Things To Do when....
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to SovereignMK's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Some time Passed by with that Question unanswered... Things have Changed a Li`l Bit; Now is Easy to Obtain Led Bulbs for Almost any Need, in Any Shape, Very Bright and with any Connection Base. No Need to do anything to the Car`s Wires / Lamps \ connection, just "Plug & Play" I Obtained Led Bulbs for my Subie`s Corner White Lights (side the Headlamps) at "V Leds" ... Also they`re at many Places, even at Amazon. Top Ten Things To Do when.... you pick up a 1986 GL Wagon? Beside Change All Fluids, Check each Wheel`s Brakes & Bearings, Check for Rust... the First I`ll Do is to Change the Timin` Belts + its Tensioneers Ball Bearings... -
Help me diagnose
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to blindrummer's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Maybe it is a Foolish Advice, but here it Goes: Have you Checked your Tires for Low Pressure / Different Size \ Different Rims? `cos the Metallic Sound could be the Exhaust too... if Everything Tire Related seems to be OK, I Suggest to Check Carefully the Links, Steering Parts, Ball Rods, etc... for Loosen Parts and misalignment...
