The five speed manual transmission Swap is a great thing, however, being working with the Rear differential only, is not a good idea; you can install the front axles to bring back the awesome 4WD capabilities and extend the transmission lifespan. Kind Regards. -

Welcome! Beautiful Subarus, Love the Brown colour on the Brat. The front Bumper on it came from another car, BMW? Kind Regards. -
Yes, it was me, here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/106807-improved-shock-absorbers-and-spring-coils-on-loyales/?do=findComment&comment=1302391 You mean that he could remove the Strut Top blocks, flip 'em and reinstall them? The SJR logo on them, should face the Fenders as that strut blocks are from your older SJR design, isn't it? ... as far as I know, only the Newer SJR lift blocks has the SJR logo facing the Front. Kind Regards.

Welcome! So, do you own a Subaru? ... ... Which one? Kind Regards.

That's the seal Colour that I was writing about. I don't know about the USDM specs, but the Local Subaru Dealer, in my li'l country, used to have available the three seal kits for the EA82 hydraulic steering Racks, a blue stripe one, a green stripe one and the Orange ~ Red stripe one, being this, the thickest one from them. That being said, I believe that the Black ones are aftermarket. I kindly suggest you to remove the Rack to do a proper inspection from the inner parts, in order to know what could have caused the Fail, and by the way, you can take Measurements of the New Seals that you Obtained, and compare 'em to the Old seals that the Rack originally had; in order to try to see if they gave you the wrong seals. Good Luck! ... Kind Regards.
-
Yes. May I ask, if the Colour of the Seals that you obtained in the Rebuild Kit, matched the ones that came originally inside the Steering Rack? I learnt on the Hard way, during year 1999, that Subaru made three different bore sized, hydraulic steering Racks for the EA82, being the one that uses the Blue seals, the one with smaller diameter; the Red seals are for the Racks with thicker diameter, and there also are Green seals, for intermediate bore sized, hydraulic steering Racks. There's a small chance that you used the Wrong seals, like placing the Blue ones on the Place of the Green ones, and despite that they'll fit, their fitment will be loose enough to let the Fluid to pass thru them, directly to the Boots... Kind Regards.

Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Sapper 157's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You're Welcome! Well, the Craptachi carburetor is also customisable, I even wrote ~► another writeup regarding that, however, Craptachi carburetors doesn't worth that effort, unless you really want to keep them; Webers are long lasting and gives less troubles in the long run for sure. For both the EA81 and the EA82 engines, I recommend to use both main Fuel Jets at 140; having 140 Low (primary) Stage and 140 High (secondary) Stage, gives the best balance between Fuel Consumption and Performance. That's the reason why I wrote this: Some but not all. Remember that the EA81 and the EA82 are 1.8L engines, while the EA71 is a 1.6L engine. Kind Regards. -
Thank you so much for sharing these Photos. You only need to be logged-in to your Yahoo! account, to see them... It is a good idea to have a Half Green and a Half White, LED illumination, on the same instrument Cluster, for comparison purposes. Good Job! The White LED illumination on Green tinted Cluster, looks like to be Easier on the eyes of the Driver, but the green looks like an off-colour; However, the pretty Deep Green achieved by using Green LEDs on Green tinted Cluster, is really interesting, and should look Better in Person. Seems like the iPhone 5 did not bear in a good way the Contrast, I wrote certain advices to make better Photos from such things like instrument clusters by Night, in case you're interested in reading and see a couple of photos, look ~► Here. Thank you for Sharing your Retrofitting job, it looks very Good! Kind Regards.

Thank you Josh, for your Kind Words! Here you Go: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/71510-ideas-on-swaping-a-weber-carb-on-ea82%C2%B4s/ Please read it slowly, as it has lots of information. The main difference between the EA82 and EA81, is the Adapter for the intake manifold; as far as I know, Scott in Bellingham from SJR Lifts, is also building a newer designed Adapter plate for the EA81; however, the Redline one is good for the EA81 as it is a single piece part; while the redline adapter for the EA82 is not good at all, especially on the long run, being a fragile, two plate adapter. Let us Know the progress on your Weber Swap. Good Luck, Kind Regards. ► Underlined words are web links. -

EA81 intake on an ea82
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Mechanical_misfit's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You'll face certain problems that will need your creativity to be resolved, such as the inlet Water hose position, etc... but despite that I never did such reverse adaptation, I believe that such install is doable; so I kindly suggest you to go ahead, do it, and let us know the results. Kind Regards. -
I just added the following information to my Writeup regarding the LED background illumination Retrofitting: Important Note: the warning light for Low fuel, will stay lit all the time, if you use a LED bulb on it, not only in these Subarus' instrument clusters, but also on many other brands' cars on which I have done such Led background illumination retrofitting; I bet it has something to do with the grounding they have related with the Fuel Level Gauge, LED's are much sensitive and a slight grounding will lit 'em up, so I kindly suggest you to Avoid using a LED bulb for the low fuel warning light, keep it incandescent and it will work flawlessly. The Writeup, plenty of Photos, is here: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/131336-led-retrofitting-on-instrument-cluster-dashboard-removal-procedures/ Kind Regards.

The Brightness gets controlled by the Dimmer knob, so that is not a problem. I've Never seen a White background on these Subies before However the Gauges looks that went Below Zero readings after they were removed, I bet that they might get damaged during the removal procedure. Have you done this Background mod yet? Kind Regards.

Thanks for your answer. Yes, that mere warning light for Low fuel, tends to stay lit all the time, if you use a Led bulb on it, not only in these Subarus' instrument clusters, but also on many other brands' cars on which I have done such Led background illumination retrofitting. I will update my writeup with that information. ► Edit: it is done, look here. Kind Regards. -

Your Loyale looks Awesome, thank you for Sharing these nice Photos. The Low Fuel warning light is lit, despite that it has enough fuel to not be lit; that means that you used a LED light in it, (or something's wrong with the indicator.) isn't it? Kind Regards. -

One vacuum port at the distributor, is for steady vacuum -outer one- while the other port needs Progressive vacuum -inner one- so, you should cap close the outer one on a Weber Swap, and plug the inner one to the Weber's front-left port. I know those Ford Rangers, here's one that I've been servicing and repairing since many years ago: ~► http://www.ranger-forums.com/member-introductions-12/greetings-honduras-%E2%99%A5-149022/ The only two advantages I see from the Ranger, are the size of the Bed, and their Good Brakes, but the four cylinder Ragers are not exactly economical to drive and the Ranger feels Anemic with those four cylinder engines, especially the twin spark 2.3L, noticeable more under load and / or going uphill; also the Rangers has huge blind spots around the rear view mirrors... Subarus really feels more Powerful and Faster, even loaded; also they are very Fun vehicles to Drive, plus they could be Lifted / Modified and get extra ground clearance, extra power, etc... fully customizable. I believe that your decision should be based upon your needs: If you need to haul big things in regular basis, the Ranger might be better, due to the long Bed; however, if hauling things is sporadical, the Subaru might be more than enough, and you will enjoy more the Subaru than the Ranger, especially in Muddy / snowy conditions. There are much more advantages and disadvantages for both cars, I only mention the more noticeable ones; in my own humble opinion. Kind Regards.
