  1. it Depends on the Kind of Dirt you Found in the intake: if the Dirt in the intake Manyfold is Oily, well it Might be the PCV Valve Suckin` Oil that is Blowed by the Head`s Hoses... Let me Explain: The PCV Means Positive Crancase Vent Valve (or Somethin` like That) and it is Located Right under the Carb, at the intake Manyfold; it Gives the Ventilation to the Crancase and is "Sucks" the Nocive Fumes that comes from the Head`s 5/8" Hoses (one each Side) the PCV Valve is Tiny, it looks like a Plug for 5/8" Hose Down the Carb`s Base at the intake. it Has Some Sort of Rattle Ball inside that Allows only one Direction to the Fumes` Circulation... Maybe it is Clogged, you can Take it Out, unscrewing it and Clean it with Gasoline, but for $2.ºº I Believe you can Change it... But I Suggest to Use the Subaru Original instead Cheap Brands... The Oil Blowin` from Each head is a Problem with Older Engines, as they Wear the Seals... Have you found into the Air Filter Box some Oily Residues? ... if there`s no Oil, I Won`t Believe the Problem is There... The EGR Valve is Bigger, Bronze Colour -usually- it Looks some alike an UFO , Located on the intake Manyfold too, but at one Side; it has just one 3/16" Hose Plug `cos it`s Vacuum Activated... if it`s Stuck Open, can cause some Problems... Sometimes it is Plugged to the Wrong Vacuum and it lets it Open all the time, I Suggest to Unplug it and Cap the Vacuum hose, and try Drive it for a While (it takes some time to the Engine to clean Carbon exess) and see if the Problem goes... I Hope this can Help you! Good Luck!
  2. Yes! ... I Believe that could be Done... (I Remember some old Threads About) ...The EJ Engine is Wider than the Stock EA So it will Reach very Close to the Frame`s Sides; and to Fit it to the Gearbox You`ll Need an Adaptor... Also You must Keep all the EJ`s Donor Car Wires... Let`s the EJ Swap Experts Tell us Better!
  3. Why Don`t you Swap in that Hatch an EJ Engine? ... EJ20 or EJ22 Must Perform Great on a Hatch! ... That will be a Nice Project & Upgrade!
  4. 12 Motors! That is really Spare keeping! Both Subies Looks Like they can Be Real Good Wheelers!
  5. Beautiful!... Nice Pictures & Awesome Subies!!! ... Thanx for Sharing! The Light Red Leone Wagon (EA81) has very Nice Rims, Could I Ask the Size? ... Or are they Chromed Caps? I Like all your Subies, Specially the Loyale...
  6. I Believe that the Built-in Light is the Coolest Key from the Old Gens... Let me Tell you that the Same Keyblanks were used for Old Gen Subies -like Loyales- and Nissan...
  7. if your Subie has the Stock Carb, it is Hitachi, I Suggest to Take off the Broken Part and go Search for a Good one at a Junk Yard... if you Couldn`t Find a Carb`d Subie, Maybe you can Find a Hitachi Carb in some Nissans... Good Luck!
  8. Well... I Paid around 200 Lempiras (Our Currency, about 20 Lempiras per One US Dollar) it is like around less than 10 US$ for a Brand new Vacuum Advance module for the Disty...
  9. I Suggest to go search for a new Vacuum Advance module at the Subaru Dealer... When I did the Weber Swap on my EA82 Wagon, I Needed a Single Hose Vacuum Advance, so I Took off the Double Hosed one, went to the Dealer and I Found easily a Single Hosed one... (They had the double hosed there too) ...and I Found it there Very Cheap! Good Luck!
  10. it is Soo Sad what Happened to your Subie... Those Kids MUST Pay for the Damage they did... or Let the Police press Charges... Otherwise they`ll Continue just gettin` Worse...
  11. Very Nice Subie! ... ... I Like it. Seems to be long time Without use... but with some Time and effort it will be Runnin` Great Again. Also, it has the Panasonic A/C Config, not as usual as the Hitachi A/C Config, so Fan Belts must be Different than Usual ... Hope to See more Pics as You fix it!
  12. Oh my God! ... ... Almost 285 Hp!!! ... That`s Amazing! I`ll Like to See Pictures of your Subie!!!
  13. Beautiful Pics! ... ... Great Landscapes & Nice Subie!!! ... I Like it!
  14. Yes, I Agree that First should be Fixed the Thermostat, but This is Your Twin Carb Subie? ... if so, Why don`t you use a Pair of Webers 32/36 it will be Amazing! ... instead of those Craptachis... My 1985 EA82 Never got the idle mixture Screw to do a Good Adjustment while it had the Craptachi carb, but Since it has the 32/36 Weber Setup, to Adjust the Idle Mixture Screw Became so Easy, (Now it gives the Same Response as my `69 Mercury with in line 6 engine while Adjustment) Just if it is Too Open or Too Close, the Engine Shakes... but Movin` the Mixture Screw between that two Points, makes the Engine Runs Soo Smooth... Kind Regards!
  15. Also Some Keys from the 80`s and 90`s Nissan`s Should fit there too... I Went to a Locksmith to Obtain New Keys for my Subies, he Took the Back Door`s Lock out (The Less Used Key, due to the Remote electric Lockin` mechanism) and made one New Key followin` its Config, the new Key Works like Brand New in All Doors & Starter Switch... Maybe it is a Good Idea for you... Good Luck!
  16. I`ll Love to See Pics of Your Subie Wheelin` in such nice Place! Could you Post here Some Pics? Thanx!...
  17. Well... I Suggest to Upload the Pictures to a Free Pics Server, like Photobucket, then you can Post `em Here: Just Right Click on Copy at the Pic There, then Paste it here... ...
  18. Great Idea, but do you Know which are the Average Temps for that Engine? ... it will be Nice to Know How much Temp a Runnin` Engine should Show at: 1/4 Gauge (Like Idle or Cruising) = 1/2 Gauge (Under Load / Uphill Drive \ with Air Condtitioneer) = 3/4 Gauge (Very Hot) = I`ll Like to Know that Data, also if it`s the same for other Subie Engines... To have an Aftermarket Temp Gauge that uses a Great Sender unit or Something more Accurate on the Engine is Great Idea... Connie: Good Luck with your Beautiful Subie! I Hope to see more Pics of it Runnin`Great Again!
  19. Great! ... I`ll Love to See Pics of That! Here Came Just Very Few Legacies with the Carb`d + Disty EJ Engines ... Known here as the "Legacy DL" ... Good Luck!
  20. Great! ... So you not only improved the Looks of your Subie, you now Have the Chance to use Better Lights there -like H.I.D.`s for Example- and it Still Will Look Clean & Nice!
  21. I Believe a Bent Pillar Could be Correctly Repaired, I`ve repaired a Friend`s Toyota Long time Ago, with Great Success... it Depends on How much Damage it Have. Also you can Swap Doors... if That`s All your Subie Needs to Go Runnin` Again, maybe it Worth Fix it Up... Post Pics of the Bent Pillar to have a Better Idea about How much Damage it Have and which is the Better Way to Fix it Up, if it`s Possible. Kind Regards.
  22. Well... for `88 GL you most Post under the "Older Gen of Subarus" Forums... but Let me Try to Help you. First of All, you Must Know that the Chimes will Sound when you Open the Door, ONLY if you Leave the Key on the ignition Switch... Or your ignition Switch Has some Problem with the Position Sensor... Maybe you`re Pullin` the Key Before it Reaches the Off Position, Maybe it just got some dirt which is keepin` the sensor as if there is Still the Key, without key... I Suggest to Check this First, then if you Still want to Silence that Chimes, I Suggest to Remove the Plug that sends their Signal, it is Located at the ignition Switch itself. To do that, you need to Remove the Steering`s Plastic Covers... Good Luck!
  23. Do you Really have those Limits? ... I Didn`t Knew... Here there are No Limits to -Almost- Anything, For Example: you can Buy / Sell \ Purchase all the Cars that you Can, and Have them wherever you may Want, without Problem (as Long as you don`t have Troubles with your Neighbors) but the Average of Cars per Family remains in Two...
