  1. The Problem is not really at the Temps, `cos with Lower Temps you`ll need to leave the Car Untouched for Long Time untill the Paint cures well all over... the real Problem is the Humidity factor that can damage a well done Paint job. Two things you can Do: Wait untill you have Warmer Temps, or... Make a Paint "Oven" for the car to be Painted. How? move the car to be Painted to a Close Garage, Big enough to Paint without Painting the Walls or anything else there... Then, Place many Powerfull Lights (110V x 150W) Reflectors to cover almost all the Car`s Area to be Painted. Remove all the Plastics -they can Melt- as long as you can. Those Lights shall Warm up the Closed Garage... but you`ll need fresh air to Breathe... to Paint in a Closed and bad vented area can be very Dangerous!, but I have done it when I had no Choice... Close all the Windows, Turn the Lights on for a While untill they Warm up the Closed Garage, Wear your Safety Equipment. Start Painting with all the Lights on... it is Better if you could cover it Completely at one Time with one Coat, then go out to Breathe and Rest... (But if you Couldn`t do That, just Paint one Part and go Breath fresh air Outside, then go back inside again to do other Part and so on) ...give to the Paint enough Time to Cure... I Suggest the Whole Night -with Lights on- for Better Results, Then next day use Fine Sandpaper, after that Clean it very well... Then Cover it with the Second Coat, and give it the Whole Night under the Lights again... Your Paint will be "Cooked" with the Lights` Warmt, but if the Weather is very Humid & Cool, you can leave the car untouched more time, to let it Cure the Paint Completely. Then you can Polish it. I`ve Painted some cars, including both my Subies; and I`ve Painted some in that Homemade "Oven" Good Luck!
  2. Yes, Check all of That, and Also I Suggest to Check the Exhaust pipes... Sometimes cathalythic Converters got Clogged and cause the Lack of Power Behaviour plus Overheating. is your Subie Carbureted? ... I Know it is 1992 so its EA82 engine should be Fuel injected, but since you live at Anchorage, maybe your Model is Carbureted... (We got here even early Legacies with Carbureted EJ engines)
  3. Me Neither... but I Have had problems with Fram and Luberfiner Oil Filters... I Remember back in 1993, Purolator filters became Scarse here for a While... So the only options was: to go to the Dealer to Purchase an Expensive original Filter :-\ Use a Cheap Chinese / Korean \ Unknown make Filter Use a Fram or Luberfiner Filter... `cos Other Brands like Wix, etc Didn`t got available the Right Filter for EA82 at that time... So we purchased a Luberfiner, using their Catalog to find the one for EA82. After less than 10 Minutes of Drivin` the Car (My dad was Driving it from the Place where he usually Changes the Oil) Going Home, we Heard a Loud "PHOP" Noise, then metallic sound like something was hitting something at the Engine Bay, Dad stopped inmediately and I went Outside to see What Happened... My Surprise was Horrible when I Saw the Oil Filter Laying in the Skid Plate, and Oil Everywhere! ... ... I Yelled to my Dad to Shut off the Engine, Thanks God, that wasn`t engine damage; everything happened very Fast... Then we went (Walking) Back to the Service place where the Oil was Changed, the Place owner took the Subie Back there with his Tow Truck, and we Compared the Filters, the Old (Purolator) one, with the New (Luberfiner) one. Both was almost identical, but the new one have the Thread that screws to the Oil Pump, located very Deep Down (around 1 cm) from the metal edge under the Round Rubber Gasket; That`s why the luberfiner filter just reach to Barely Hold itself to the oil Pump by just the First turn or so of the Oil pump`s Thread... the Purolator one have the Thread raised very Up, at the Same Level than the Metallic Edge under the Round Rubber Gasket, so Purolator Holds Tight the Entire Thread of the Oil Pump. Remember that Subie`s Oil Pump Threads are Short. So, since then; I Check Carefully the Oil Filters I Use... Luberfiner and Fram Filters had the same Problem: Thread located very deep down. We Just let the Subie at the Service Shop and I went next day in Bus -far away to other city- to the Dealer`s Shop, and purchased a Couple of Original Filters... untill I found Purolators again. My EA82 uses Only -since that problem- Purolator Filters without any Problem. Two Different Sizes fits Great: The "Short" one, Purolator Part Nº L10028 and... The "Long" one, Purolator Part Nº L20064 With the Long one, the Engine uses one Full US Gallon and with the Shorter one, it uses a Li`l bit Less... Kind Regards!
  4. I Have 5000K with Low / High Beams on one of my Wagons, see this Thread for Details: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=89661&page=9 I Like your Subie`s Look and the Video.
  5. it is Just a "Misplaced Finger" error! I Noticed that your Subie has H.I.D. Lights installed, isn`t it? ... Which Kind of H.I.D. Kit did you installed there?
  6. Why is your Subie at the Shop? ... Nice Video!!! ... But it says: "Subary"
  7. Well... Maybe your old one was Delivering more Voltage than Normal... Try to Measure with a Tester the Total Amount of Voltage when the Car have the Headlamps On, and the Engine is Around 1,500 RPM`s ... if it still says 13, then it is Normal... if it Lowers Below 12V, it is Bad. Good Luck!
  8. I Agree... if that happens to my Car, I will do every Possible Thing to take it Out from There... to Abandon the car, Taking the goodies from it, is like Abandon a Brother and steal his Wallet... Or Something like That. Here you can Find Very Kind People that Could Help you to Take it Out...
  9. Great! ... in That way we Learn more from our Subies and to make things better every time, so we appreciate more those cars and the effort done...
  10. Here there are No Snow... I Live at the Caribbean Tropics, but Now we are experiencing some "Extra Cool" Winter, not Usual... No Subaru issues so Far, but my Li`l new born Daughter got a "Cold" ... :-\ ... Due to the Very Cool Climate with Huge Strong Winds...
  11. No, I Don`t Suggest to Drain the Gas Tank, I Just Suggest to make a Li`l Test, to be Sure that it is not the Cause of the Problem. The Test: Bypass the Gasoline from the Fuel Tank, Try to Start your Subie with other Source of Gas. How? ... Well... I Did that long time ago, to Test a similar problem; I Disconnected -removed- the Electric Fuel Pump`s Fuse and Disconnected -Removed- the Gasoline Hose that comes from the Tank to the Carb, and Carefully used a 5/16" Screw to cap it, to prevent fuel Leakage. Then, I Used an Old, empty Plastic Gallon Container -it was from Coolant- That I Washed Clean, then Pour some fresh Gasoline in it, (Around a Liter or so) then I Opened a Tight Hole in its Cap, just to make a 5/16" Fuel Line Hose to fit Tight, it was about two Feet Long. Closed the Gasoline Plastic Gallon with the Cap Already with the Hose out, Sealed it with Duct Tape all Around and Connected the Hose`s Open end to the Carb`s inlet. Then I inverted the Gallon Upside Down and Opened a Hole it that Plastic Gallon`s Base (Now at the Upside) to make an Air Entrance... that Allows the Gasoline to Flow from that Plastic Gallon to the Carb... a Friend of mine did Hold that Plastic Gallon Up above the Carb, and Then I Tried to Start the Engine... After four or Five Attempts, it did Started, with very Rough Idle... after a Minute or So it iniciate to smooth the Idle... In that case, the car had some Naphthalene Balls pour on a Low Gas Tank... That`s Was the Problem`s origin... so we Not Only Drained the Gas Tank, Also we Washed clean it too. You can try to do Something similar, but First check for other Sources that Might be Causing this, Like a Vacuum Leak at the Carb. Good Luck!
  12. Well... if you just Run 50 Miles with a Tank Full of Seafoam + STP Carb Cleaner... Maybe the Gas / Air Mixture getting to the Carb isn`t enough to Spark anymore... That Could be your Subie`s Problem...
  13. Welcome to the Board! I Believe that your Subie just Needs new Head Gaskets...
  14. That Subie Behaviour, remembered me the Problems I Got some time ago with my 1985 EA82 Wagon... it Started acting the Same, and it was the Hitachi Carburetor... it seems like it "Swallowed" Dirty that was sticky on the Gas Tank, sometimes with rude Driving Conditions (Like Off-Roading) Sticky dirt from the Tank moves to the Carb and then the car Starts Acting like That. I Suggest to Clean that Carb too... Just in Case... Good Look!
  15. I Really Like your Brat! ... Those Rims Looks so Clean, Like Brand New! Smaller Tires Makes your Subie stand Lower, so in Pavament, they can make your Subie to use a Li`l Bit less Gasoline, due to Aerodynamics...
  16. I Agree... I Like your Third eyed Subaru! ... Looks Nice & Clean. I Hope it will be an Easy Fix... Good Luck!
  17. a GL Truck? ... Great! ... Maybe you want to do Somethin` like This: Or like This? ...It is Good Idea...
  18. So Sad to Read That! ... But the important thing is that you Didn`t get Hurt, Your Subie will be Nice Again! I Hate Hit-and-Runs Too! ... Did you tell about that Accident to the Police?
  19. Why an Evo? ... I Respect too Much your Choice, but Personally I Do not Like Mitsus... I Would Prefer an STI... but just curious: Why an Evo?
  20. I Suggest to move your Engine`s Timing Forward, that was Happening with my Weberized Wagon when I First installed the Weber... it Gives Much more Fuel / Air than the Craptachi... Worth Try to Advance the Timing. I Drive my EA82 Weberized Wagon at 25º without Problems... and the Under-the-Hood Sticker Says "8º +/- 2" Now That`s a Huge Difference! ... My Weberized Wagon Needed Spark Plugs & Coil Upgrade (Accel Superstock) to Handle better the New Mixture Amout Given. Also: Check for an Unplugged Vacuum Advance Line, the one from the Carb to the Disty. Good Luck!
  21. it Sounds like a Great Project! ... Could you Post Pics here? ... Thanks! Good Luck!
  22. Well... Good Luck! Let me Tell you that my Dad Purchased a Remanufactured Carburetor for Our Mercury Comet `69 (L6 250) Back in 1999... It came Chromed from inside to outside But it came for the 177 Engine :-\ instead for the 250... But it Works Great Too since the First Start Just like Yours and it Gives Much Better Fuel Mileage! is Nice to Know that those Carbs comes soo great!
  23. But Not Only Europe! ... There are Few of Them in Latin America, I have seen many 4X4 Bugs Here too... "Made in Brazil" or Somethin` like That...
