Let me help you: here's your photo: You can copy the URL address that features code boxes, which is located at the left of the tinypic page, and paste it directly here. Nice looking Brat Kind Regards. -
Long years ago (1999) my Subaru had a fail on the steering rack that developed a leak of the ATF; after several unsuccessful attemps of repairing it, I swapped in another steering rack from a Junk Yard Subaru, and it had a pretty small leak; so I drained all the ATF (indicated to be used on my Subaru's power steering), from the system, and switched to Power Steering Fluid with anti-leak, which claims to rejuvenate the seals; and my Subaru has been working great with said stuff since then; however, after some years the tiny drop it leaked became a little more noticeable, I poured some Lucas Power Steering additive, and the thing still is working Flawlessly, up to date. When I changed from ATF to Power Steering Fluid (Synthetic / high mileage) I noticed that the steering wheel became a little bit Harder to turn than with the ATF, but nothing terrible; and when I lifted my Subie, years after that, the Steering wheel became even Softer than when the car was new, somehow... Kind Regards.

Yes, regarding this: If the Tick only sounds when the engine is Cold, then there's a chance that it is Not the Tick of Death, and I guess that you might be are using a Heavy engine Oil for your Climate, and / or maybe you're using a Monograde oil and a large oil Filter. I have thirtyone years using 20W~50 on my 400K miles old EA82, but I live in the Caribbean (Honduras), where climate Never gets too Hot nor too Cold; but here never snows; However, that number of oil, will be too Thick during cold starts in cold climate Areas, especially during winter times. I kindly suggest you to let us Know which SAE number of oil are you using on your EA82, and how is the climate on your area, then maybe we can suggest you a best option. Kind Regards.

Free Lift Kit for the newer car SJR
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Scott in Bellingham's topic in Products for your Subaru
This is a pretty good idea Scott, a win / win deal for sure, you obtain measurements, and the Subaru owner obtains a new Lift Kit from SJR. I wish I could help you, but I can only send my best wishes. Kind Regards. -
Oh, sounds like you all had some fun this weekend, wheelin' around. Jeeps are my Father's favourite cars from always, he wanted an in-line 6 cylinder one with short wheel base, but sadly he never owned a true Jeep, however he has an Asian Turbo Diesel, dual range, Huge wagon from those that you only see in Australia, Latin America, Africa, etc... but never in the USA. Here in Honduras, the Land Cruisers from Toyota, the Patrols from Nissan, Land Rovers and many Jeeps (among many others, mainly asian makes) are in local 4X4 clubs, and I go wheeling with them sometimes, (Mine is the one and only Subaru among them), they competes in the anual 4X4 clubs' competitions and have fun with the whole family on adventure mountain wheelings, on weekends also. Kind Regards.

Well... I like the Jeep. And I can't wait to see the awesome Modifications that Scott is going to make on it. Kind Regards.

EA82 filter bypass permanent fix
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Treblemaker's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
As I live in the extremely mountainous Honduras, and with age and usage, the front parking Brake became weak and was not enough to hold the car, even with the manual transmission always on first gear; so I try to park my cars with the steering turned in order to let the front tires to touch the Sidewalk; but sometimes there's no sidewalk and the parking spot is pretty steep. That is the Reason why I successfully retrofitted a stronger, rear parking brake on my subie, years ago. However, prior to retrofit that, my "BumbleBeast" subaru rolled backwards being on first gear by itself, several times, slowly... once it even hit a parked luxury sedan that was brand new then, three meters away from where I parked, and my Subie was engaged in first gear as usual, and with parking brake set... the hill was pretty steep and no sidewalk, as we were in a rural area. So I guess that I've been Lucky with my EA82. I always use a Purolator oil filter that is a little smaller than the one for the EA82, but all the other specs are identical. Thank you for sharing this information, Kind Regards. -
86 gl10 with A/C & Fan motor issues
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to scoobiedubie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If everything A/C related, fails at the same time and you are Sure that the system is completely Charged; then check the Relays, they usually fail after more than fifteen years. Here's all the info regarding the EA82 Relays that you might need, it cover the A/C ones: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/87523-how-to-swap-the-old-roundie-relays-with-standard-bosch-relays/ Kind Regards. -

There is a company called "Japan Treasure Hunt" which brings rare vintage Japanese car parts, to America and other areas, they do an intermediation between the english spoken people, and the Japanese people, as they are in Japan; I believe that they could help both of you, to research and find the needed documentation, in Japan, regarding your Subaru Manatees (FJ1600) so, I kindly suggest you to write them, and ask... worth try: ~► https://www.facebook.com/jpnhunt/ ~► http://jpnhunt.com/ Greetings from Honduras.

Allow me to go off-topic here, but very kindly let me tell you that you can have an ISO:9000 certification, and still build Junk parts; because the ISO:9000 standard is certifying the Quality of the PROCESS itself, Not the quality of the resulting product. I am a trained ISO:9000 auditor, my previous job required that in order to keep their certification. Back on topic, the mere Timing Belts sold locally by the "Gates" distributor, says GATES "Made in USA" but they do not sell Timing Kits Locally, only Belts, Timing Belts and Hoses. Today I purchased a T210 Gates timing belt for a 2.3L Ford Ranger, rebadged as Mazda B2300, it says "Made in USA" on the timing belt itself. I hope to never see a "Made in China" Gates belt, because then, it will not be a true Gates anymore. Kind Regards.

You are right, I forgot to mention that. I'll add the information to the Writeup. Kind Regards. -
The problem with LED lights, is that they doesn't spread the beam pattern in long distances, unless they're fitted on a Housing that uses reverse mirror projection; I investigated that long ago, and I ended using regular Halogens instead, due to this; the Led lights' beam doesn't go too far from the car. Here's a link to my old thread regarding the Subject: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/125225-rugged-off-road-lights-with-high-output-leds/ Kind Regards.

Ea81 strut springs. Difinitive answer!
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to BratWarrior's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yes, the EA82 coil springs for the front, fit on the front of the EA81 Models, you can use the stiffer ones from Kia and Ford that fit, if you want a Lift / offroading, Complete information & photos, here: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/106807-improved-shock-absorbers-and-spring-coils-on-loyales/ Kind Regards. -

Somehow I've understood it backwards. Yep, I posted information regarding such retrofitting, here: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/106807-improved-shock-absorbers-and-spring-coils-on-loyales/ That was an interesting story regarding how the old engine went away, and came back to its same original car; thanks for sharing. Kind Regards.
