subaru in honda commercial
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to SoobGoob's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Very Interesting, Thanx! -
Thank You! ... I'm Glad that you Liked it! I have a new Video There, of my Yellow Wagon in Action. Back on the H.I.D. Conversion topic, let me tell you that the Lack of Regulating Laws about type and style of Halogens or H.I.D.'s that you can you install on any Vehicle, on my Country (Honduras) is one of the Factors that makes almost Any Honda, Toyota, Kia, etc, Owner to put H.I.D.'s on their Vehicles (Actually, the majority of Kits says: "Not Legal for Sale in the U.S.A." ) Those kits are Around 50W and I Saw Even Purple Lights (15,000K) that (I Think) is pure Garbage, just a "Hey, Look Me" Thing. I Just Think that something between 5,000K and 6,000K is ideal, but here are Too Many H.I.D. Converted cars with Improper tuned Light Beam Patterns, that almost Fry the incoming drivers' Retines ... ... is So Sad but True. I am still waiting here for the input from Other Loyale Owners with H.I.D.'s Kind Regards.

Thank you All, for your Kind Replies, and for the Great Advice! No, My subie doesn't have any Electrical Problem. They're Glass and Both Headlamps are almost New (I Purchased two new Headlamps at the Dealer, some time ago... They where at 50% Discount ) No Moisture! Well ... I Tried to Connect one of the Bulbs Directly to the Battery, and the Other is On Directly with the Car's Wires... (with Engine at idle) ...and Both Looks Equal; so I Don't Think that my Subie Needs Any Rewiring nor Relays. Thank you for your Kind Replies... I know that some USMB Friends have done the H.I.D. Conversion on Loyales Before, I will Like to know their Experiences with that on their Loyales... Anyone?

Yes! ... If you want to Change your Subie`s Timin` Belts, I Must Suggest you to Check and Change the Belts Tensioneers` Ball Bearings. I`ve seen some Good Timin` Belts Jobs, Failed by a Tired Ball Bearing... Good Luck!

I Want to Upgrade my Subie's Lights, but I don't want to end with a Subie Lookin' like This: (I found this "Mutant" Subie some time ago, in Comayagüela City here in Honduras) Kind Regards.
-
Thank You! I was doing some Research ... I really need to Improve my Subie's Lights, but I'm Afraid to damage someone else's Sight, and to Damage my Subie's involved Parts. I have already read the Information Links that you Gave me... seems like to "Upgrade" to H.I.D.'s are not an "Upgrade" and might be Harmful ... ... I'm searching for Options.

Thank you for your Kind Replies! Some time ago I readed this Thread about H.I.D.'s on a Loyale: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/66282-hid-lights-on-the-gl-wagon/ I Think that the Loyale's Headlamps wastes some of the Light, and H.I.D.'s might hurt other Driver's eyes ... I Don't want to do that. Beside of H.I.D.'s and High Power (100 W) 9104 / 9004 Bulbs... Is There another Option for Upgrade the Lights? Kind Regards.

Hi All !!! I use to Drive too much during Night Times, sometimes during huge Rainstorms. To drive on the Roads at Night's Deeps can be Dangerous due to the many problems we got on our Developin' country, like Huge Potholes on the Roads, not enough Signals, Some Roads are just Ground (no Pavement at all) and many beasts (Like Cows, Horses, Donkeys, and Drunk Drivers) are ussually Crossing the Roads very fast without any care... (Yes, Honduras is called "The Alice Country" due to its "Wonderland" Features ) ...so, a Good Light Beam is Really Necessary here, to reach your destination alive. Sometime ago I've posted about Changin' the 9004 Halogen Bulbs (Ussually 45 Watts Low / 65 Watts High - Wider Range) with 9104 Bulbs (80 W Low / 100 W High - Larger Range) See this comparison Photo for Reference: But they became scarce here, as many Good Quality Parts... now only low quality chinese parts are widely avaliable. So, this is the Light Pattern I have on my Subie, using: ► the Headlamps on Low: ► the Headlamps on High: ► High Beams + the Under Bumper Halogens: So, You clearly notice that the Under Bumper Halogens are Much More Brighter than the Headlamps. I use Flösser 100 Watts Bulbs on the Under Bumper Halogens, also the HeadLamps' bulbs are suppossed to be rated at the same 100 Watts too... but Under Bumper ones are really Much Brighter, big Difference. I've Already Checked the Connectios, Relays, etc ... every single Thing is just Fine, so I think that those 9104 Bulbs (or 9004) aren't really Enough for those huge Headlamps ... I don't Like that the Under Bumper Small Halogens gives me the only "Good Visibility" for the Road, as the main HeadLamps are weak. But that seems to be normal on those 9004 / 9104 Headlamps if you Compare their Brightness with Modern Standards, even with the more common H4 halogen bulbs. By the way, the Later EA82 Subarus, featured H4 Halogen bulbs instead the lousy 9004, also their headlamps' Housing is Plastic, despite of keeping the Glass lense; but that is in our LADM (Latin American Domestic Market) Specs Subarus, those were not offered in USDM. Let me show ya: But to Swap my 9004 Headlamps with H4 Headlamps, is very expensive. So: Time to Upgrade to H.I.D.'s ? I Don't wanna Hurt anybody's eyes with Extra Illumination Power on the Main HeadLamps, so if I go H.I.D, I'll Adjust 'em to the Best; I think I Really Need that Extra Power, for Safety. So, here goes the Questions: ► If I Will Do the H.I.D. Conversion, Which Kind of Light Colour is Better? I Really Dislike Blue Coloured Light, 'cos it Seems to be "Absorved" by the Wet Pavement... Too Dark to be Safe, so: 6500K, 8000K? ► Here in the Market are easier to Find 6000K Kits ... They seems to be not too Blue, around "White" ... What do you Think about? ► If I Do the Conversion, I Will Need more Space to Place the Ballasts, so the Overfill Plastic Tank for the Radiator, Should be Moved... Any Advice? Any other Idea / Suggestion \ Advice is Welcome! Thank you, Kind Regards & Blessings.

That`s my Idea too... after more than 23 years with my White Wagon, I feel just like That.

Funny Noise
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to The Dude Abides's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It might be a Dried Ball Bearing, Timin` Belt Tensioneer... (My White Wagon sounds like that at the Air Conditioner Compressor unit) Dry / Worn \ Old Ball Bearings... I Think that might be the Cause. You can use an Around two feet long Hose (Around 5/8") like an stethoscope, Put one end on one Ear, the other end near the Suspecting Parts... (Very Carefully, as Loud Noises could be Dangerous) ...and you`ll be able to Find the Exact Source of that Noise. If it is a Ball Bearing, I Suggest to Change it soon... Good Luck! -
New Stereo and speakers
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to The Dude Abides's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Great Job! I Mounted 6½" Speakers in the Front Doors of Both my Wagons, but Not in the Door... I Mounted `em in the Door`s Panel. -

New tires and wheels on RX
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Turbone's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Your Subie Looks Very Beautyful! So, those Rims got the Subaru 4X140 Pattern? ... NICE! I`ve Never seen those Before! -
My White Wagon Got 195/70 R 13" ... and My Yellow Wagon Got Fat 205/65 R 13" ... No Problem with That, the 205 Handles Way much Better, but are Less Tall that the 195, `cos the "/70" Factor. (Heigh) I Think that 205/70 should Work fine, if you could Find that size... But I shall say that my Wagons got Improved Coil Springs (Front of Ford Tempo, Rear from Honda) so, in a "Standard" Subie, that Tyre Size can hit the Underneath Plastic at the Front. I did used 205/60 Before the Coil Springs Change without any Problems, They`re Fat but not much tall.

I Suggest an EJ25 if you Can... I Know it got two less Cyls, but is Easier to Obtain Parts for it, and its more Lightweighted, Great Horsepower, etc...

An Oil Pressure Story
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Bill90Loyale's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Nice Written Story... So, the Automatic Trans Fluid, did Cleaned up the Oil System on your Subie, isn`t it? -
Let me be the 1st to welcome you.
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thanks for the Warm Welcome!!! This Thread is Five years Old! ... Nice!!! Let me Tell you that I Like Too Much the USMB, here we got Great Friendship, I can Obtain and Give Help, Knowledege to Share, and Lots of Subarus! Who could wish Anything Else? -
Well... I Hope it was going Slowly when it Fell on that Huge Crater, but Sadly, we have Many Craters on our Roads. I don`t Know why -and How- Many Hondurans buy Porsches, Masserattis, BMWs, and a whole lot of Too Expensive Cars, even if we Don`t have a Decent road to Run `em... We have Roads, but they demand to be Very Careful to Drive. For Example: Look this Brand New Masseratti, Parked side my Subie...

Running on E-85??
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to bluesuby89's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yes, I read about it on "Popular Mechanics" Magazine; I Believe that can be Better Idea to Run a Subie on LPG Gas Setup, but it can be Dangerous if the Car gets into an Accident.
