A Few Q's for the Gurus
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Heironymous Josch's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Main Power Windows Relay Failure... Clean Contacts & Replace the Relay. Also it can be Done by a Bad Working Engine Starting Switch, you can check it when your Power windows doesn´t Work while Engine´s on, just try to move a few mm the Key, maintaining engine on. If Power Windows comes Alive by This, Replace the Main Switch, if not, it is the said Relay. Good Luck! -

Thank you for your Kind Words, Connie!!! Well... I´m Back!!! ... I just came from a Job Trip to the Honduran "Swan Islands" and so on... and I just saw this Thread. About to Swap a ER27 engine on a RX, let me Tell you that it is Doable, but there are few things that you´ll need to Know first, and to do then. There´s no many "Plug & Play" things involved, just some parts will fit, some don´t, so you´ll need to Use your Creative Skills. Absolutely True!!! ... I still have Overheatin´ Problems with mine, and that situation, plus the Lack of Money / some Parts \ Spare Time, is the cause of that my Yellow Wagon´s Project is Still unfinished, the Subie Runs but to make it Turbo, first I need to Solve the Overheatin´ problem Safely, then I need the EA82T Pistons, plus other parts involved... a custom intake, etc... there was some sort of Guide to do a Turbo Conversion on a ER27, that I saw on the XT6.net site, I saved it but since my PC crash (Some months Ago), I saved it on a CD that I don´t have at the hand Right Now, but the Info is Still on the Internet. You´ll need to Swap almost all the electric stuff from the XT6 too. Keep the Control Unit, Wires, etc... Sorry, but Really I need to Agree, to be Honest. The Extra Weight on the Subie´s Front end, claim for a Suspension / Steering \ Brakes Upgrade. Due to the Overweighted Engine, Brakes doesn´t Handle safely, Specially at Higher Speeds (Believe me) and the Car seems to lower its Nose, creating a Weight forces goes more to the front, overloading brakes more... and Some Understeerin´& Hard Parkin´ issues may occur too... along with faster Tyres / Parts wear. I Understand you very Good, Specially with the as you Said, I also obtained my ER27 almost for free, so I think it is Natural to desire it on your RX, to make it Uncommon & Special (That factor was my Motivation too); but I have to be Honest with you, tellin´ the Issues that my ER27 Wagon have. Yes. Some Minor / Middle \ Major Work Shall be Needed. Yes! That´s what I was Writin´ about... Yes!, or it will become a Huge Head Gaskets Nightmare!... Anyhow, I wish you Good Luck on your Project, and please, Keep us Updated!!! (Pics Please!) -

Well... it sounds like a Good Idea, EJ Engined Loyales are Cool! Could you post more Pics of your Subie? ... it Looks Nice! -
I Think to Fix it Up will be the Best Option, if I where on your Situation, I´ll Fix the Subie instead of Scrap it.

What...the...hell... A/C Belt mystery.
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to GJTaranto's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That did happened twice on my White EA82 Wagon, and the Cause was that the Belt was Firmly Overtighten... :-\ ...I have the Habit to Re-Check everything, and sometimes I make Too Much Torque on the Wrenchs... Overtighten things... Well... Half inch of Free Twist on the Belts, shall be Enough. -
Weber install: backfire from intake.
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to TheYeti's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
is What I`ve Said on Page 3: Well... I Think that might be the Cause too... but more issues Might be involved, such like Vacuum Leaks, Wrong PCV + EGR functions, etc... Good Luck! -
Not Exactly, or that might be just there... `cos Here, lots of Yugos are Still Runnin` Around. Also, we got another Yugo Model that was Bigger than the "fiat 127 / Autobianchi" Based one, it was like the Lada Samara`s Brother.

Well... There are belts with Half inches Long / Short ... But there`s another thing to Think About: the Belt`s Wide. Let me Explain: Since the EA82`s Belt Pulleys are shaped in a Deep "V" Design, the "Standard" Belts, known also as "A" series, Fits on the Upper Part of the Pulleys, without "Touching" their Buttom; `cos they`re Wider than the Ones I use on my EA82: the "F" Series. I Use Equivalent Belts of the "F" Series, they gone down the Pulleys to the Buttom, and have More Grip. So, for the "Inboard" A/C Config, I Use This: Which its Number is: 11A0995, you could find it in Another Brand with That Number. is Less Wider and Half inch less Longer (Due to the Bottom of the Pulley Going), but Fits & Performs Better. And for the Alt`s Belt, I Use This: Which Standard Number is: 11A1120. I Suggest GoodYear`s "GatorBack" Belts. Good Luck!

First of All: Welcome!!! "Grindin´ Noise" ... Those are KeyWords here... I Think you´s Subie´s Engine got Problems with one of the Timin´ Belts Pulley´s Ball Bearin´ ... I Got that Problem too, Li´l time ago, see: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=75411 Maybe it can Help. Good Luck! -
Don´t Forget to Use a Relay there. Its the Safer Way to do a Long Lastin´ Electrical Setup.

Yes, the Coolant Hose... The Tiny one (5/8") that goes from the Water Pump to the Heather... It might be the Cause. Good Luck! -

Alternative Carbies for the EA81?
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to RavenTBK's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Without any Adaptor Plate, if the Original Engine´s Carb, was the Hitachi, another Hitachi from Nissan (1.6L Sentra or Similars) Should Work there, Right Bolt on, but I´m not Sure about its Performance... When my White EA82 Wagon´s Hitachi Carb Died, I Tried the Above Suggested Nissan Carb, My Subie felt soo Underpowered, but Might be due to the Jets... for an 1.6L engine... So, I Suggest to search for a 2.0L engine Hitachi Carb, Like the ones of some 80´s Light Trucks. Good Luck!
