One dim headlight
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to glfarnes's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well... Seems that everybody Forgot to Say the the Loyales has a Different Setup than Average Cars, Let me Explain. When Majority cars came with a Single Ground and two "Live" Wires (Positives) for Low & High Beams, to each Bulb; the 9004 Bulb Setup of Loyales are backwards, so You have a Permanent "ON" Possitive wire in the Middle, and Two Different Grounds for the Low & High Beams, that came from the internal Relays. So, I Think that you don´t have a Bad Grounding on that Headlamp, Maybe a Bad Possitive Wire. So, I Suggest to check the Well Workin´ Side with a Tester, Just Don´t Forget to Move the Key to "ON" ... The "Bad" Side shall give same Measurements... if you find a Bad "Live" Wire (Possitive) That´s it. Good Luck! -

My former White Wagon, the Weberized EA82, (now my "BumbleBeast") Was Leakin' Oil, but the Surprise is that it Wasn't from the Usual Places... it Was comin' from the Base of the Pipe Used to Pour Fresh Oil on the Engine, the one that Goes to one Head ... One of the Threads was Damaged, I don't know How ... Maybe it was Loose and Vibrations did damage it. How to Easy Fix a Damaged Thread on Aluminum in a Engine's Head? Well... I Started Removin' the Pipe. Here you can see the Oil and dirt that came from its Base And to Prevent Small Metallic debris from goin' inside the Head, I placed a Small Cloth very tight inside the Head's opening, and Covered it with many Masking Tape Layers. Then, I Drilled the Thread! ... ... Yes, I Drilled it! Originally it Was Like 1/4" ... I Drilled it to 3/8" Here you can See a Closer Perspective: Then, I Remake the Thread, but in 3/8" ... See: Here comes the Solution: I Drilled inside a 3/8" Bolt... ...And I made the Original 1/4" Thread inside the 3/8" Bolt! (Important Note: Don't Forget that Stock are Milimetric Measurements, I wrote Here the Equivalence on inches for easy Reference) Then, I Just Used Thread Locker, to Screw the 3/8" Bolt on the New 3/8" Thread on the Head, then I Removed the 3/8" Bolt's Head. (it was Pre-Cutted in each side, to make Easier Removal of the Head) Finally it Looks like this: And it Solved the Problem, Absolutely! I Hope this Ideas Could Help many People with Similar Problems, If you find this Useful, don't forget to let me Know By hitting the "Like" Button. Kind Regards.

Locking the Rear Wheels On (2WD only)
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Loyale 2.7 Turbo's topic in Transmission, Axle, and Brakes
Important Note: Such modification works identical with Drum or Disc brakes' setups, as long as both are for Front wheel drive EA82's ... However, these ideas might work on other cars' models; remember: Use this Ideas at your Own Risk! I Changed the Drums with Discs using the same modified Spindles, as you can Read more info and see Photos, Here: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/109931-public-thanks-to-a-great-friend-rear-disc-brake-swap/ Such modification works identical with Drum or Disc brakes' setups. Also you can see on the above photos, How I Redrilled the Lug Pattern on the Hubs of my beloved Subaru "BumbleBeast" from 4X140 to 4X114.3 ... ... I did that since year 1996 in order to let my Subie use more "Standard" Rims, it has been working Flawlessly since then; you know how hard is to find a good set of Rims in the original Subaru's 4X140 lug pattern, other than 13" ... only Peugeot & Citröen rims are rare-to-find alternatives; so I redrilled the Hubs and got rid of that problem, forever... Kind Regards. ► Edited to Update the Web Links, due to the New USMB's system. -
Modifying the Rear Spindle's Locking System (for Front wheel Drive -2WD- EA82 Subarus) _________________________________________________________________ When is Needed to do Service on Ball Bearings or Brake Pads / shoes on the Rear wheels of a Front Wheel Drive -2WD- EA82 Subaru, you'll notice that the Drum / Disc is held in place by a simple Nut which is prevented from spin freely by a Locking twistable Washer that Locks everything, and with time and repeated Twistings on and off, such washer trend to Break. Sometimes is even worse, the worn Washer Breaks / Fails \ Loosens the Nut while the Car is in Motion and it Makes the Bearings to Loose its tightness and can lead to a Huge Bearings Fail, Damagin' the Spindle and even it can lead to Loose a Wheel and Make a Huge Fat Crash... So, I Decided to get rid of the Washer Locking System, for a More Safer Option: I installed a Safer "Castle" Nut instead of the regular Nut, and I Drilled a Transversal Hole to the Spindle, where the castle nut settled, to Cross both the Castle Nut and the Base with a twistable Nail. Images Worth thousands of Words... See: Drilled the Transversal Hole on the Spindle, and placed the New Castle Nut Closer Perspective: Already with the Nail Crossed and Twisted: Finally, with the Original Cap ...... it Works Great! Finding a Castle Nut with same Thread and with Small Width to fit there, was very hard, I Found mines on an aftermarket store; the salesman told me they belongs to the steering arms of a '97 impreza ¿ ? I Hope this Idea Could Help Many FWD Subies Owners ... ... Kind Regards.

Wooden Stereo face plate
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Loyale 2.7 Turbo's topic in Stereo tips and tricks
I Attached an original intel Pentium III Processor's Fan (12 Volts + Ball Bearings) inside the Dashboard's Compartment for the Stereo unit; I placed the fan in the Top, held in place with Zip Ties to the Air Conditioner Vent out. Stereo Units -Usually- has a Yellow Wire that gets Power when you Switch "ON" the Unit, it's Intended for Power Antenna, or external Amplifiers' "ON" Signal, but I wired it to said Fan, in order to to Keep the Unit Cool, and it Works Great! That setup already has many years of Everyday use at Mid range Volumes ... (Sometimes Louder with Iron Maiden) ... And Works Flawlessly! -

I Didn´t Saw the Bonnevile Justy, (Could you post some Pics of it here?) but I Saw the WRX STi Justy for Sure! ... it has the EJ Engine mounted, and it Runs Sooo incredible Fast... I saw it on internet, Specifically on this Website: www.turboman.ca of Canada. I downloaded some Videos, I can send ´em to you, if you wanna see ´em. So, to Swap the WRX STi Engine on a Three Cyl Justy is a Incredible Mod to consider... and it was done Before. Good Luck!

Camping/fishing EA82 wagon. ideas???
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to misledxcracker's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yes... but Beside that, you can cut the Wagon´s Rear Roof right to its Base, then add a 12 inches of reinforced metal sheet all Around, then Weld the cutted Roof Again to that new Upper Trim, so it will Rise Higher. And Add a "Camper Style" Windows to the Front of the Raised Roof, to Look Nicer! I Saw someone done somethin´ almost like that, on an old Datsun 210 Wagon... now it has T.V. Set and other goodies, aside of other rear seat, in other Place. (I remember a Microwave and a Small Refrigerator there too) Well... Good Luck! -

Durable wheel paint
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Zebisko's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I Think that Ceramic Paint won´t Bear Off Roadin´ Conditions... You Know, Rocks, Hits, etc... I Suggest Epoxy Paint, the one used on "Safe Bank Boxes" (I´m Lost in Translation) that will Last more to the Impacts. Good Luck!
