  1. Check carefully all the Vacuum Hoses, where they come from / where they go, `cos some of them are critical in Hitachi carbs. For example: the secondary stage on a Hitachi is activated by a Vacuum, if you don`t connect the correct hose there, you can finnish with one of this Three posibilities: 1) A permanent Vacuum = Always acceleratin` to Redline. 2) No Vacuum = No Secondary Workin` so, your car will become Slow and Unpowered. 3) Wrong Vacuum = May activate the Secondary in the Wrong Moments... ...And that`s the posibilities with just one of the many vacuums of the Hitachi... Are you Sure that you`ve Purchased the Right Carb. for your Subie? `cos slighty Different Carbs. can perform poorly... (I tried with a Nissan one... It was a Nightmare!) ...or suck much Gas... Be Careful. Maybe in the Future you Can obtain a Weber... is Better Idea. Weber = No Vacuums (Execept for the one that goes to the Dist. Vacuum Advance) Good Luck!
  2. Well... it sound interestin` I Agree with the Subaru as One Car For Forever, but I do Preffer the Loyale Wagon... ...Also, I wanna Add that Subaru did appear in too many Cartoons, I don`t remember now all, but I remember the 360 in many cartoons... Or the Impreza that won against Takumi, in "Initial D" Anime series of Japan. (the Impreza is of Takumis` Dad) You can see it Here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsifHojhLNs Or the 360 in "GetBackers" : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpKjBrkCBM8 Also, everyone Gotta Love the Brat, even in the Simpsons show has appeared one: Yes, most People drive "Rollin` Hazzards" Here in my Country... I do Preffer my Subarus...
  3. I wanna see those Pics and Video, but link Doesn`t work... Do you have a Workin` Link? Thanx!
  4. Just to help... I have a friend that got a Hatchback Subie EA81, who has fab. solid engine mounts, and the car became with a weird fellin` almost like you`re drivin` some old VW Beetle... Vibration is high, but also a li`l noisy. He is waitin` for the new mounts to come at the Dealer this December. The fact is that you can drive it with solid mounts, but then you`ll be bored with So much Vibration. Good Luck!
  5. For sure it will be a Nice Great Engine! ... Please, update with More Pics!
  6. ...Yes, with the Right Adaptor Plate... ...And Hard Work! ...
  7. Thank you all for your kind replies, I'll contact SJR now, to ask about a 1½" Front Blocks
  8. Why a two seater Plane, when you can get a "Flying Subaru"? With those 200 wild horses of power, and a Lightweight Brat, you almost fly... Or you can put Wings on your Impreza...
  9. So... Which NGK plug is Better for a EA82? the BPR6EY-11 with the "Y" electrode, or the regular one? On this 21+ years of owning (was my dad's First) my EA82 Wagon, I have used a lot of Spark Plugs, From NGK, to ND, to Champion, Bosch, Beru, Etc... but the NGK gives me better Performance, but I never used the "Y" version of `em... so, Any experience with them will be Welcome! Thanx!
  10. WD40, Marvel Oil, or similar brands should work there as Jerry said. I suggest to take the cable out, and clean it strongly with that penetratin` oil that repels moisture. Good Luck!
  11. Well... I was thinkin' on maybe using Just 1½" Blocks for the Front Struts ... Do you guys think that the Subie will take an added 1½" stress angle on the Axles, without eat 'em fast? Which other Issues will happen if I install 'em? Thanx!
  12. Usually, a Rusted Clables / Contacts on the Main Fusible Links (That`s the Black rectangular Box, in the Coolant Reservoir, near the Battery) can do that, even with a good Battery. I suggest to Check `em Out. Good Luck.
  13. For some reason, some information about subarus is almost like "Hidden" on internet, or unreacheable... I suspected that our Subies with Loyale Bodies (EA82) were made in japan since early the 80´s, when I Accidentally crashed the Glove box of our 1985 White Wagon EA82, and the plastic behind said in a circle: "year of manufacturing" and it said rounding it: 82, 83, 84, 85, 86. And then, I saw This: What do you think about? Also I know that subaru has selled Diesel models (On Justys - with Suzuki) since long ago in Latin America... and there says nothin´ about... but Well, that´s another story...
  14. On Loyales, FWD Front Struts are Lower rise than AWD ones, so YES!, it´s the Way to Go... Good Luck!
  15. Is it Carbed? if so, it´s the Carb, almost or Sure. Try clean it.
  16. Well... I respect so much everyone, and their own desitions... But I really HATE to see demolition derbys... Specially with a Suffering Subie on it. Maybe is Because My Heart feels its pain... Its Horror... Its Fear... Maybe is Because that Old Subie that in USA just cost around $ 500.ºº Here cost around $ 2,000.ºº and maybe is the Dream of a poor Family. Maybe is Because I have worked too hard for too many years, repairing and takin´ back to life too many EA81 and EA82 Subies ( of Friends, Clients, etc... ) and I feel so happy when they are Alive and Great Runnin´ Again... Or just Maybe I´ll Never Understand why in some world areas, People Destroy almost all the production of one item, and then, when just are one or two left alive, they turn them into a "Rare" pieces of Museum, or collectibles of Invaluable Price... I don´t Know why... But Anyhow... Good Luck!
  17. Maybe my Weber came bigger, ´cos the choke was hittin´ the steerin´ reservoir and the Webber´s Base was Hittin´ one of the Main Steerin´ pump Screws (at the Pump´s back) so, first, I removed the Choke (I live in the Caribbean Tropics, so Choke here isn´t needed) and I made a round metallic plate to close the choke´s openin´ Also, I cutted off the Steerin´ Pump Screw´s head, and it Works fine for me! Look a This for Reference: Also, I have to Make some Drill Job on the Intake Manyfold to make fit there the 5/16" Screws (Originally, EA82´s Carb use 1/4" Screws) Anyhow, Hopin´ that this post will help anybody with same problems. Good Luck!
  18. Yes, it will work nice on a EA81... that uses the "Single Plate" Adapter; for more info.: www.webercarburetors.com Good Luck!
  19. Well... I saw that Video... and I Hate it! ... - - - - - - - - - Talkin´ about Loyales, I really Love ´em, I have two Wagons, one Yellow with the ER27 swap, and one White with the mighty EA82. I made my EA82 really Faster, even faster and more powerfull than it was new (Said my Dad, who bought it new, in 1985) I changed the Carb. for a Weber, and the Vacuum advance in the Disty, for a Single Piped one, also, the Coil for a 45,000 Volts one (Accel Superstock) and the Timin´ to 25º and eliminated the "Y" Pipe exhaust filter, catalithic converter filter, and almost any control, including EGR is eliminated, and now the Car almost Fly! (Comparing it Now and how it was before) You maybe don´t Believe me, but the Difference is enormous. I simply Adore my Wagons; I really wouldn´t change them for anything else, but the EJ Engine swap, maybe is good Idea to bring more Power to an EA engined Car; but it depends on the specific needs of everyone... I tried it swappin´ the ER27 on my Other Loyale, but its overweight makes brakes too weak, and handling decreases, also the Radiator doesn´t fit, so I have an overheatin´ problems, maybe with a EJ engine, those problems doesn´t exist... Anyhow, Good Luck!
