  1. Well, just readed this thread, and I know that circumstances in USA and other countries are wide different, and in other way are the same; but I don´t understand exactly why you are selling your Subie. ... Unless you are making enough money to buy another and start all over again? * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Let me ask you a question: if you sell the Subie; your fantastic web page at "93Loyale" will die? You know that I really like your page for many reasons, the Info, the effort, the passion you did put on it, ... and also, both my wagons got pictures there ... so, the question is: you are gonna keep that page still alive without its first meaning (The 93 Loyale) or you´re gonna change the name? Well, whatever you choose, it is your own desicion, so I really wish you Good Luck!
  2. Welcome! I suggest to first check well the non runner engine, maybe it won´t need much work to do. Good Luck!
  3. Just Tryin´ to help with some Ideas, I think that engine has clogged / sticky injectors, (Dirty) and as you said, Bad thermostat. So, I soggest to try cleanin´ the fuel system, startin´ with a good brand injector cleaner in fuel tank, and "in Intake" kind too. (Both at the same cleanin´ session) and check and change if nessesary the thermostat. Due to the many electronic sensors on the SPFI systems, maybe rough idle is caused by the overheatin´ too (That changes the mixtre burnin´ propierties) and the dirty fuel system. Well... Good Luck!
  4. Hi!, I´ve covered almost all ´bout here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/...ad.php?t=53143 I suggest you see all my thread, ´cos there you´ll find the intake manyfold work to do, along how to hook hoses ideas, photos, etc... Good Luck!
  5. Hi!, I´ve covered almost all ´bout here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=53143 It is the 32/36 DEGV, I brought it from: www.webercarburetors.com I suggest you see all my thread, ´cos there you´ll find the intake manyfold work to do, along with other ideas, photos, etc... and Yes! go Install the Weber, is Good Idea! Good Luck!
  6. Hi!. I Agree that it depends on How you Drive, etc... but Let me Tell you Something: I Thing that is not the Clutch Disc, Just the Press. Why? well... My White Wagon EA82 had the Same Issue, I Changed the Clutch Disc, and the problem gone just for a While, due to a more thicker disc. But when time passed -not much- the problem came again. Well, I didn´t changed the Clutch Press Yet, (Press is called Here, I don´t know if that´s the right word in English, but I hope you´ll understand) but I done it to a Friend´s Subie that was in identical situation, and it Corrected the Problem, an it has about two years and still going good. well, I hope that can help you... Good Luck!
  7. Well... Is not easy to Figure out without more images of the Hoses, etc... but the Pic Above helps... I Think that you should try this: (Well, it is my Suggestion) Close the vacuum Hoses comin´ from the Carb. to that piece and to the EGR, and close every remaining Vacuum Hose between those parts. Remove and Cap the EGR Vacuum Hose, (That comin´ from the Carb.) Try to re-set Idle (Mixture / Speed). I think that can make your Engine to Run Smoother and dissipate the Backfire Problem... but the Purpose of it is to see if there are any Vacuum Hose bad connected or wrong connected and to see if the EGR is damagin´ Engine´s Performace. If done that, Engine is Smoother and backfire is Gone (Or Almost) I Sugest to Check the Timin´ (Ussually works Better between 18º and 20º, instead of the 8º that says in Some -not all- EA82 Models´ Hood) If you need the EGR to Pass Emissions Test, maybe try to put New vacuum hose Lines between the Carb. and the EGR, but FIRST Check the Vacuum Lines´ Diagram. Good Luck!
  8. I Agree!... That is Exactly what I was Talkin´ About Painting a Bumper. Good Job!
  9. XT6 are Nice & Special Cars, if you could buy it, then Go for it! I don´t know how much is the price, but just can be evaluated by obserb the Car... Check Engne, Drivetrain, Wheels, Brakes, Suspension, Etc, the Usual... and if you could, is good Idea to go with a friend that knows ´bout those Subies. Maybe postin´ pics of it here can help... Good Luck!
  10. Well, I´m soo happy cos your Subie is Runnin´ Again. About the Gap, the Basics are: Using a More Powerfull Coil... (The Stock gives around 27,000 Volts Out, I Use an Accel SuperStock, that Gives 45,000 Volts Out) ...you can open wide a li´l bit more the Gap Settings, along of Using a more Advanced Timin´ without problems, that makes your subie a li´l more Faster and the engine will not emit noises with regular Gas. I use my EA82 at 25º timing and only with Regular Gas... Good Luck!
  11. Good Idea!, you did "Polished" it... I can´t do that ...Because both my wagons did got heavy scratches (too Deep and even Small Holes) that won´t look good... Instead of that, I did painted them... (but first I used a special softener additive to the Paint) First I filled those scratches and then paint. Do you have Pics of it? I like to see that finish.
  12. Well... I don´t know the Right Answer, also I Don´t Have a EA81, but in my Experience repairin´ cars (Not only Subies) I think you NEED the Paper Gasket there, ´cos RTV won´t work well there... But, if you didn´t obtain the Paper Gasket, you can Made your Own! ... I do it sometimes, just buy the right kind of Paper for Gaskets, put the Piece of metal under it, and with a small hits to the Paper over the metal part (Use a Metallic Flat thing), the part will draw it´s own Shape on the Paper, then just cut there, and that´s your Paper Gasket. I know that procedure maybe won´t work in the EA81´s Oil Pump, (As I Said, I don´t Know that Pumps) but the Idea can Help you... Good Luck!
  13. Well... I was about to Call Jason ... ... but then it Happens: I was Drivin´ my Yellow Wagon, it was a fine weekend at the Island; Then I stopped the Subie nearby a Supermarket to buy Groceries... It was the Night of a Rainy day as usual this part of the year at the Tropics, ... at that time the rain was stopped, but the remainin´ water did fill up a small Hole in the way from my Parked Subie to the Supermarket; it was filled to the Top, exactly at the rest of the Pavement Level... I don´t saw it, and This is the Result: (You couldn´t Imagine the Enoumously Loud Yell... "OuCh!" along whith the Feeling that came with the mute sound in my Bones / Muscles: "CrAcK" ... It´s Horrible! ... So "Watch your Steps" ) Well... So that´s why I didn´t continued with the Oil Pump Stuff.... and Doctor said I need three months... half in bed (With leg up), half between bed and livin´ room, but no goin´ out. Really I like to see how is now my White Wagon... (Due my to Job... My White Wagon stays with me, where I work & Live, and my Yellow Wagon Stays with my Parents, and I Drive it Weekends when I Go see ´em) ... Right now it have about a Month Abbandonned. So I Think the Oil Pump trouble may get worse, due to the unused engine for a month... the question here is What do you Think ´bout? Maybe I´ll Stay Disconnected from the web, ´cos I still must be at bed, untill I´m right. but I just want to Thank everybody for the nice cooperation I received here ...
  14. HI! Thanx for Sharing your Pics with Us, Your Brat Looks So Nice!
  15. Well... I just wanna say that I LOVE THAT SUBIE!!! it is Very Nice, and with the EJ Engine on it is just like One of my Dreams came True, I Always wanted a Subie Just like That, in everything, including engine, I like All... Except for the Rims. Do you plan to put on it Newer Rims, Right? I Suggest a Big Chromed ones, like my Yellow Wagon: Maybe you dislike those kind of Rims, but I choose them ´cos they are too hard enough to survive the Horrible Roads of my Beautyful Country, Honduras... They are Hard, shiny and not too expensive; Made in U.S.A. (Don´t Remember the Brand yet...) I just wanna say that I love your Car, Congratulations, and please, post more Images of it as long as you made any progress on it. Good Luck!
  16. I Agree, I Like it All, and Appreciate all the work and dedication it must take, I love it´s finnish, except for the Dodge style Grill...
  17. Nice Car you Have! I Like it; Congratulations... You can use any kind of fuel, regular or premium in a carbureted model, i´m not sure in a SPFI or MPFI models... Try and See, and give us Feedback. Good Luck!
  18. Maybe the EA82 P/S Pump will Work, but I Suggest First to Change the Entire Power Steerin´ Fluid with the Better one you can Obtain, better if the new fluid got "Restoraton Additives" ... It has worked fine for both my Wagons... Good Luck!
  19. I Forget to ask you: What are the Extractors?
  20. First of All: Next: You can search about that in this Site, using the "Search" button above, there are a Lot of Disscussion about it here, but I Think that is Better to Keep your EA82 Carbed like That, due to the Design of the Cams and it´s Pressure (No exactly the same in Turbo, Nor Manyfold, etc... ) but it´s Better to Change the Crappy Hitachi Carb, for a Weber... It Increases Power, (Specially at Low Range) and Acceleration, Top Speed, Etc... Along with Noise (I Love the Roar of my Weberized Wagon) but check the Emissions Restrictions in you Area First. If you still wanna use a Turbo, maybe is Easier to Swap the Entire Engine, but in that case, (If I Could) I will Swap the EA engine, for a EJ engine... there are Adaptors for the Gearbox... Well... Maybe another member can help you more about that... Anyway, Good Luck!
  21. Hi! Just check if that hose has Nylon Thread between the rubber inside / outside... You can see that if you can cut a li´l bit of the hose, and see it. I use exactly the same Gates Hose... Just check if it Got the Nylon "Core" ... it means it is stroger than Average Hose, and designed to carry "Presurised" Fuel... it will work Good with Coolant Too..
