Timing Belt Covers - Yay or Nay?
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to mrroot's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I do Preffer to Leave them on, because I know a guy who was driving it`s EA82 without covers for a couple of years, untill he runs on a road that was under reconstruction... there where too many li`l rocks, so one of them did get between one belt and it`s pulley... It did broke the belt, but not just it... Also it broke the pulley, the bearing of the pulley and due to the High Revs. it Cracks the pulley base... And it is a major Job... So It won`t be Happen if the covers where on... I preffer the Looks of the engine without them, but it is a High Risk... so i say: Yay! -
EA82 Radio Questions
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to SyntheticBlinkerFluid's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Also Remember This, is Important: Subaru did make in the 80`s and part of the 90`s the Radio connections, using a common ground between the front and the rear speakers of the same side, but the positives are all independent. Due to the extremly delicate circuits of the newer radios, if you do not put in a new cable for the ground of the back speakers (As I Did, or for the Front ones, do what you preffer) you will damage the unit for sure. So, prior to install a new radio, be Sure that all the speakers are fully independent... Good Luck! -
Well... Personally I think that Subie Looks Good in Both Shapes of Lights... But I`ll prefer to Mount the Loyale`s Rectangular Wider Lights, Along with the Grill... Just as an Extra Information: Here in Honduras, I saw one guy did put ALL the Front of a Loyale Wagon EA82 (1986 Maybe) in a Brat... Just leaving the Doors and it`s Backside original; but it Looks Amazingly New!. Really, it`s very good Idea (or well.. I think so) because it really looks like a More "Updated Brat" and make all the other brats to look older. What do you Think `bout? Maybe is good Idea to Leave all the Original Design and just put the Loyale`s Headlights and Grill...

S#$TBURGERS!!! frapaceno in airfilter box!
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Uberoo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I did fix mine`s (EA82) by Changin` the Valve Seals... I mean the small round seal of each valve, they`re cheap, but it needs to open the engine, so Head Gaskets will damege and you`ll need to replace `em too... and they`re not cheaper... Good Luck! -

clutch pedal/cable
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to seth3030's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Also, you may need to take off the entire pedal to take it off, and maybe you can weld it, but I think that piece came along with a new cable, you can try to change it with a new one. To change the entire cable you need to take the pedal off. Maybe you can post here a Photo of this. Your Drawin` is Good, but a Photo maybe can help too. Good Luck! -
How to prime the engine?
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Joey Joe's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
All this ideas are good, but I sugest to take off the Spakplugs before do it, just to make easier reving the engine. -
another speaker install thread...
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to misledxcracker's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
In the Front doors is Easy: Just install them Over the Plastic Cover of the Speaker (I mean in the Door Panel), you can cut the Hole in the plastic and bolt it with nuts & washers... I done it. Also, in the Rear Doors, you`ll need to do more work, because you need to cut the door`s steel to make the speaker`s place. If you put it Horizontally, the magnet would not get hit by the rear window, since it can`t reaches too low. (Just take off the Plastic door cover and see). Also: I must say you that you will need to make all the wiring new, because Subies came with a common ground between front and rear sides but each side is independent. Good Luck! -
Where to find a rebuilt EA82? Price?
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Proteus503's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If you Really want to Change your engine anyway... Why don`t you think in put it on a More Powerful EJ Engine? like the EJ20 or 22 or Something? Maybe you can find a good cheap one at the JunkYard, and buy the Adaptor to the Trans. Also: I personally preffer to Rebuild the Engine than change it. Good Luck! -
Pics of guage mod and V1 install
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to ple1ades's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Looks Fine! This is the image of my Yellow one Dashboard: Also I got a Question: Recently a friend did help me to change the Oil of the White EA82, and did ShortCircuit the Oil Pressure Cable... So the Needle did go up fast and enough time to damage it... Now the needle is Always (With the Engine shut down) far low under the 0 (Low) position (Dropped Down) and with the engine revving up, it just reach up about the 0 point. :-\ It means that it`s workin` but just a little bit and Under it`s area. The questions are: Can I Fix it? and How? also: What is a V1? 10X -
Steamy XT - Head Gasket?
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to waimaks's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yes!, it souds to me Like it`s the Turbo, but also you must check the Small hoses that comes and go to the Intake, maybe a wrong connected one... -
It`s Easy! (Well... I Hope So) It sounds to me like you have a Damaged Relay Switch, or a Corroed connections on it. Just see it and Replace it if nessesary. It is Located Under the Passeger`s Front Seat, near the Safety Belt Base. You need to pull the floor`s Rug, and see it. I did have the Same problem with my White Subie, about two monts ago, so I did Replace the Subaru`s Weird Relay, with a fresh Bosch Relay (They are Standard and between 30 or 40 Amps, Subie ones are just 20 amps), and to make connections easy, I did obtain a Standard Relay`s Connection plug from a automotive Hardware Store. Also I did the Same with the Three relays of the Air Conditioneer; two on the Engine Room and one under (Behind) the Fuse box on the Driver`s side. and everythings works Fine! Also with the Bosch Standard Relay, power windows works more powerful and faster. (The A/C Unit works better too) Hope it will help ya... Good Luck!

ea81... HELP GRRRRRRRRRR
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to scrap487's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
...Well... I got EXACTLY the Same Problem, i mean EXACTLY the Same. It was the CrapTachi Carb. I got my Subie Running with a Nissan`s for a While... Bad Idea. it was too much Gas Consuption, and it don`t have enough power to do the engine revving above of 3K RPM without small explosions noise on it... (Small Venturi) So, I did Throw away the Hitachi Crap Carb, and put it on a Weber 32/36 DEGV. it is simply the best thing happens to a Subaru Carbed Engine since a good tunning. Far Difference... Even when it was brand New, wasn`t so quick and powerful like with the Weber. But, maybe you got another Issue there, try check the Rotor on the Dist. the main Coil, and everything between them... I just said the History of the my Carb Problems because: Maybe that is the Problem of your Car. Maybe you can obtain a Nissan`s Carb Just to Try if it starts and Goes fine (Remember, not fine at all, but it won`t Dies) also, Nissan`s carb (Of the sunny 1,600) are exactly the same base of the Subaru`s Hitachi Crap, (It`s another Hitachi Crap) so you just "Plug and Play" (Plug and Pray!) and easy verifies if it was the Carb`s Fault. I just wanna Help ya! So, Good Luck! -
Here, things on JunkYards are "Even Worse"... ...Here are Lots of Junkyards, but they Always get their cars from USA, so, to make "Cheaper" costs, they "Cut Off" the back side of the Body (I mean, they only leave the part from the front bumper to the shift knob, No front seats, no Nothing from behind... They take off things like Struts, Coil Springs, Gas Tanks, Tail Lights; etc... to bring `em here, but Not a full body here, it`s almost impossible. ...I feelin` so sad lookin` those JunkYards since I was a Little Child... So, here I saw (in 1998, the Hurricane Mitch Year) here was one special subaru I wish I could have it when it was OK... It was a 1994 Loyale SportsWagon dark cherryred with the EJ22 Engine (Adapted, maybe done by it`s Last Owner) li`l lifted and with the Peugeot 14" Rims... but it was Crashed somewhere in the USA, and Junkyard operators did "Cut it Off" just to bring here the front part of it, as I said above. It was too sad too... If I could have enough money, I will be Happy to bring here for me an XT6 an a Brat. Love `em. I`ll love to be near of you to go "Diving" at this JunkYard between Subarus, Feeling the "Help" silent scream came from those Subaru Souls that with a few things done, can still run... I`ll hurry to get a lotto ticket... Maybe...

Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to LUVMYBRAT's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Both my Subies are Manual 5SP, but I know that here (Honduras), all Automatic came with just the 3AT untill `89. those models thru `94 came with the 4EAT. in other countries may differ... -
