Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Meeky Moose's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
...Oh my HolyCowNess!... You are in Heaven with that dealers... Try to find anything in our Country dealer... If you are Luky, they´ll have just one or two of anything you want, but most of time they don´t have anything there, and they don´t give any date to come, they always says somethin´ like this: "...Come back in six months..." and may pass years and your piece doesn´t come at all. Not only Subaru dealers are like this here. That´s why here are Too many BIG HUGE JunkYards... The last thing avaliable to keep your subie runnin´, is Internet Buying... Throught G-Box or Somethin expensive like that. -
Sorry Friend: In Mexico There are NO Subarus at All. Let me Explain it: Mexican laws only allows to be marketed there, Mexican Made or Assemblied Cars. Not Imported at All, except for pieces or Special purposses vehicles. So there aren´t seen many car brands, as in the other countries, even there aren´t toyotas (Now they´re tryin´ to get there too) and other popular car brands. To get there, Honda, BMW, SEAT, etc... had to put there a Assembly Factories or somethin´ like that. for example, Susuki sells their line there, with the "Chevrolet" name, and the Daewoo brand is under the "Dodge" name... ...I went Mexico about two months ago... Also; we at Honduras got many Loyales that says: "LEONE" on the backdoor, we see it normal, because in the USA carmakers change the model names, here comes as it gets in Japan. Also in the rest of LatinAmerica. For Example: in USA Toyota Echo, here came as Yaris; also we Got Hyundai and Toyota with the same name: "Matrix", we got a Hyundai "SVX" minivan, etc... Many many rarities... In Brasil there are a Ford with Chrisler name as a model, it depends on the patent registry... it was long time ago. So, maybe this was a Latin American Model... But NOT from Mexico... Hope this will help to illustrate you... Bye!

Loyale hesitation issue, continued...
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to mbrickell's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
...Well... I had Exactly the same issue with my EA82... It Definetively Was the Hitachi Carburetor... When they get old, no human being can fix them up; so I "Weberize" my Subie. Got a Weber 32/36 and it Runs Incredible, all issues and problems are gone. Maybe you can try to swap the CrapTachi Carb... Try it. The High Carbon Build Up, tells me that is the Carb the one that makes your engine problems. Good Luck! -

Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to NuclearBacon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
...Well... My Twin loyales are this: ...A Wallpaper of Them I made some time Ago... The Metallic Diamond white is the "Original" one, my father bought brand new in California, may 1985, and came roading highways and bad roads from there to my country... The only seven modifications it has are: the Rims, the paint job, the Weber 32/36 Carb (Gotta Love that Carb. and it´s sound) Also minor jobs in the exaust system (Freeflow) the glasses red tint, changed the interior to Brown, and the CD stereo. The Yellow one is my "Still Project Car". I have done in it too many changes to enumerate here... and is still in progress. Is a 1987 model bought first as a Parts car, and now is my "Weekend Toy"... Both are Manual 5spd Trans. FWD I wish some day I can buy a Brat... I love them! -
I Know how this Happens: I got the Same when my subie was with the CrapTachi Carburetor, and the second stage of it wasn´t working. (Imagine the Vacuum disconnected or somethin´ like that) Yes, it´s true... Sad but True. Sad because the subie feels extremly underpowered, and the engine becomes slower to accelerate, and at high rev´s it makes high "pop-pop" noises in the Carb... Now mine´s is "Weberized" ... Far difference! OK, my fuel economy is this: (Now) 33 MPG in Highways and 28 in cities. Specs: White Subaru Loyale 1985 EA82 "Weberized" with manual trans... (the yellow one is anotha´ story... )

Oil Pressure drop at high RPM's?
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to FlyB0y's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Did it Work? Maybe you are using a Monograde Oil? 20W50 is the EA82´s Favourite. -
About to do a tune-up
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to jk4138's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well: NGK are Good, but I do Preffer BERU. or BOSCH. Also, if you can, change the Coil for a "Accel Superstock" that delivers around 45,000 Vlots. (The Original Subie only delivers 27,000 Approx) it will upgrade engine´s performance. -
I DREAM about to Get a Lifted Loyale AWD with the new H6 3.3 of the Outback... Huge Tires, Mud Everywhere... (Well I Live in Honduras, so Here Mud is ALWAYS Everywhere... I Mean in the Car after a Long Ride!) but I haven´t enough money to do it... I LOVE the Loyale Wagon... ...but my Favourite Subie is the SVX. I really Love it, Also the new Outback Blitzen 50 Anniversary... ...Now I´m Runnin´ to Get a Lotto Ticket... ...Maybe...

First of All: "WELCOME" Then: I sugest the SVX: it is a "Updated XT6" and is very Cool! I love that Car... ... Kind Regards.

Hydraulic lifters Q
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to Sonicfrog's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
O.K. I got a Sugestion here: My Loyale EA82 bacame Too Noisy some years Ago, it was the Hydraulic Lifters... BUT there was only one face of the coin... ...The back face of the Coin was this fact: Hydraulic Lifters becomes Noisy Due to Underpressure of the Oil! I Learned it by the Hardest Way... I know that they became Old and the wear plus dirty oily residues can make ´em noisy, but I sugest this: Change the Oil Pump, or only the Center of it (It´s main Gears). The Dealer has them, and here they cost me just about $ 16.ºº It´s Called "Oil Pump Kit" or Somethin´ Like That. Also if you can "Clean" the Lifters, Do It Now. If they where into the engine, pour the entire contents of a "Motor Flush" in the old oil before the oil change, and before the Oil Pump Change... It did fix my EA82 very well, it didn´t makes any lifter sounds since that, almost five years and countin´... I hope it can help ya! Good Luck... -
Maybe just for Info, But there it Goes: I painted mine with a new kind of paint avaliable here not too expensive; maybe there is cheaper. The paint is Called "Klass" and is Polyurethane based, so it didn´t use thinners, and even brake fluids can´t damage it. Here is the Link for CentralAmerica: http://www.surquimica.com/Products/servicios.asp?aplicacion=Automotriz I Think this will be a great Option. Also I tried the "Glassurit" Polyurethane too, I painted a friend´s car with it... But it is Too expensive. (Made in Germany) but is a very good paint.

Happy new soob convert. XT Turbo! Advice?
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to mrroot's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
...Well... First of All: Congratulations on your New XT! Good Car Ever! I´ll Sugest to replace all the small hoses... if they are the original ones, they are almost to break down; but they´re cheap. But this is not really cheap: I Sugest to inspect or Change the Thermostat Valve, and the Radiator Hoses... Also check for leaks of Oil under the Engine... Well, some Li´l Leak is "Almost" normal... but check it for any future trouble. Also: take each corner of the car Up, with the Jack; and check each weel for looseness on the Ball Bearings... Change if Nessesary. One Last: Change the grease from the Constant Velocity Joints with Good new one. I think that´s very important to do, with the "All Fluids Change"... Good Luck! -
click click click from rear of loyale?
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to mbrickell's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
...Good Idea, and then go down your car, to the Fuel Pump and hear if there is still sounds coming out from there, maybe a fuel filter hose, air in the system, etc... give us feedback, I got more ideas... Good Luck! -
Hi Everybody! Well... I got the Same issue almost five years ago... but in my Carbed (Now Weberized) EA82. It was a little cable (Two inches long and a female flat plug in each end) that is into a little black box (Inside are 3 or 4 identical cables, depending on model) attached to the water/coolant return box, near the Coil. They works as a "External" Fuse device, and with the time they crack out and then there aren´t spark at all. (Depending in wich one broke, sometimes there is no dashboard lights, etc... ) Try to Replace them if they seems to be "Cracked" or somethin´ like that; also Rust in them can make a bad connection, check them and see if that works... Good Luck...
