I don't know in your Area, but here in Honduras, we simply go to a store like ~► This, obtain a brand new internal regulator and ball bearings, and renew fresh any alternator; which is a cheaper and easier option than sourcing another one... Maybe this information can guide you, in case you want to renew your alternator: ~► http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f85/rebuilding-alternator-117340/ Kind Regards.

Can't be sure regarding the Clack sound... But seems like you've run the ATF + Oil mixture on your EA82 engine, for enough time & mileage, especially since you stated that the T.O.D. has Gone; so I kindly suggest you to drain such mixture, change the oil filter, and try with fresh oil; I use Valvoline's "MaxLife" 20W~50 for high mileage engines with great results... However, if the Clacking sound is severe, I suggest to try to Diagnose it / repair if necessary, prior to change your Oil. Kind Regards. -

Then, after my last post, I saw that it is a SAE30R7 hose, so the complete sentense says: "Not for fuel injection Systems" Meaning that it is a Fuel hose, but intended for lower pressures... ~► http://www.veyance.com/ProductsDetail.aspx?id=6088 Kind Regards. -
Kabota deisel in a GL?
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to zmarrott's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That is very interesting, I'll like to see Photos too. I've only seen Kubota diesel engine swaps, on Chevrolet S-10 Pick Up, on Ford Ranger Pick Ups, , Jeep and even on a Suzuki sedan; However, an adaptor plate IS needed to bolt such engine to the transmission. In the past it was a forum member that attempted a similar swap but with a VolksWagen diesel engine, however it resulted too tall for the application. Kind Regards. (As usual on my Posts, Underlined words are Web Links with Further info & photos) -

That is a very interesting setup, I like how Clean it looks; the curve for the acceleretor's cable looks very Professional, like the rest of the parts that you've built. I can see on this photo, that the main fuel delivery to your Carburetor, the 5/16" hose, says: "Not for Fuel..." have you noticed it? Kind Regards. -

In case you Overfilled the Transmission, use this pretty Simple and Easy procedure, to remove the excess amount of ATF (it also works with engine oil): Kind Regards. -

Yes, you're right. In another subject, Something that I've learned about the F-4EAT automatic Transmission, is that it really needs to move the Shifter to each position and let it stay there for Five seconds, then back to Neutral, one by one, two rounds, finally leave the shifter in NEUTRAL with the engine idling at normal operating temperatures, Prior to remove the Transmission Dipstick, clean it, and Measure the ATF level. Otherwise, if you don't let the shifter to stay for five seconds on each position, two times, the ATF level will be falsely Lower than it really is. Another thing that I've learned from that transmission, is that the entire reading area on the Dipstick, from totally empty to full, covers the last eight ounces of ATF only; so be Careful while pouring fresh ATF; do it with the engine at idle speed, on normal operating temps and with the shifter in Neutral. Never forget to pull the Park Brake lever. -
Thank you so much for your kind words, which I really appreciate. I always hope that what I share, will be Useful for other persons... Kind Regards.

Helps to keep 'em Quiter, somehow. I believe that the thicker oil cushion between moving metal parts also helps to elongate the internals' lifespan. Check this information regarding such subject: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/152891-recurrent-question-how-to-share-photos-on-your-posts/ Kind Regards. -

The Oil / ATF mixture only have few hours working in your car, they do not work magically fast... let 'em do their job for a while. The new oil pump is available online, in example: ~► http://www.ebay.com/itm/SUBARU-429967100-GENUINE-OEM-OIL-PUMP-/331420507353 Kind Regards. -

I kindly suggest you to run it for a while with a quart of oil substituted with ATF, then flush and use 20W~50 oil; the ATF has more detergents, which will do a cleanup on the tiny oil passages on the Hydraulic lifters; also 20W~50 works better on EA82's in warm climate. Kind Regards. -
rear drive loyale conversion?
Loyale 2.7 Turbo replied to jaytee5211's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yes, it is Possible both conversions, 4WD and RWD. Briefly, let me explain it: 4WD is somehow easier, because you can find a donor vehicle and swap all the needed parts over; RWD requires more fabrication, but still you'll need a 4WD gearbox in order to have a driveshaft; in Honduras, is common to retrofit the rear solid axle from the early 1980's decade Corolla, including their leaf suspension... you can see photos here: ~► http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/88248-rear-wheel-drive-loyale/ To get RWD, others simply remove both front axles on a 4WD setup... However, the 4WD transmission and its rear Differential will suffer premature wear... Kind Regards. -

The ideas behind my suggestion above, are: ► First: to be Sure that the car is alright. ► Second: if it gets to normal operating temperatures, it will start easier with a low charged Battery. ► Third: then you can place your old battery back again, and drive until the alternator fully recharges it. The Gasoline might be bad, so I kindly suggest you to get a refill as soon as possible. Check for mice nest on the Muffler, prior to start it... Kind Regards.

Try to start the Car with ANOTHER, healthy Battery. I see that you are in Central America also, if you don't know anybody that can let you use the Battery from their car only to start and warm the engine; try asking such favor to a Taxi driver; I've obtained help from them if I offer to pay them a small tip. Kind Regards.

Very interesting, thank you for sharing your project with us. I noticed the added Switches on the Dashboard, even one hanging there... What are they for? Kind Regards.

Welcome! Your best and easiest bet, is to find a set of Gen 3 EA82 heads. Those have thicker casting on the weaker areas. The twin cam, 16 valves' Heads for the EA82 are only available in New Zealand, intended for aircraft purposes, they're very expensive and rare... Kind Regards. (underlined words are a web link to further information about the Heads)

Kinda remembers me when Amazon sent me a pretty small TV card for an old computer I used to have, inside a Big Box, that came inside another Bigger Box... that was a Huge packaging for a tiny device, and the people at the local Courier and Cargo company, asked the Volumetric measurement's price... the tiny TV card ended costing me twelve times more than the cost of itself at the Amazon web site... The business seems to be more on the extra shipping & handling fees, than on the parts that they sell; in fact is like some Restaurants, where the Meal itself is not expensive, but the beverages costs surpasses their regular price three times. Recently, I discovered that Amazon offers a permanent free shipping by an annual fee, pretty much like the Pricesmart membership business system that I've seen here in Honduras... That is a good idea for a repair shop or a business. Kind Regards.
